Chapter 60

Darkness spread throughout the hallway.

Elena continued to swear while clenching the lab’s doorknob.

Ever since she had her memories of her previous life, vile swear words – which she had rarely used – continued to spew out from her mouth.

She had no choice but to do so.

Since her laboratory looked extremely shitty.

All the potions she had created – from the moment she had her own private laboratory until now – were shattered on the floor.

Glass shards were scattered all over the place, and the spilled potions were filled with ashes.

All of her research materials, on the table and the bookshelves, were either missing or burnt, as seen in some of the remains.

“Hah.”

After a lengthy time of swearing, Elena angrily tousled her hair.

She felt deeply annoyed as she cautiously entered the laboratory.

Elena reached out over the empty bookshelf.

On her hand was a round item.

It was a video sphere wherein she had previously cast invisibility magic.

She did this in case an event like this would happen again.

She immediately played the video.

Even without checking, the culprit could easily be guessed.

As she watched the video, her anger intensified.

She felt stupid when she recalled how she told Jane that he wouldn’t do it again.

“Ha.”

Elena let out a sigh.

‘Is this my karma?’

She smiled in self-deprecation.

Her boiling rage gradually cooled down and then it flared up again.

Last time, she let it slide. But this time, Elena would no longer hold herself back.

But now was not the right time.

‘It’s already late.’

Elena first tucked the video sphere into her arms.

‘… I wanted to drink a revitalizing medicine for my fatigue.’

Unfortunately, all of the potions were damaged, so it wasn’t possible.

Elena inspected the whole area while trying to suppress her anger and began to clear the place.

She was already worn out that all she wanted was to lie down on her bed right away, but she couldn’t leave her laboratory in disarray.

‘I’m working at a time when I’m already depleted of my magic.’

With magic, she could quickly clean up this mess. But because she had spent most of her magic in training, there was only a scant amount of magic left.

Still, Elena squeezed out her remaining magic, similar to someone wringing their laundry dry.

Resigned, she pushed her body to finish cleaning the laboratory.

After about an hour or so, the lab was now pristine.

It was restored to its previous clean state, with no potions or experimental data scattered.

“Lupes, dog XX.”

Elena left the lab, cursing the person responsible for this.

But first, she had to sleep.

****

Early morning.

Elena struggled to get her weary body up.

After taking the video ball in her arms, she headed to Lupes’ dormitory.

First of all, Elena wanted to deal with Lupes; and then, she would take care of Lupes’ friend, that moronic barrier wizard.

Bang! Bang!!

Elena immediately knocked on the door after arriving in front of Lupes’ dormitory.

As if fate would have it, the door opened.

Elena promptly kicked the partially opened door.

“Lupes!! You motherfucker!!”

She charged in, venting out all of her anger.

As if he had been entirely awake for these past few days, Lupes squeaked in alarm, his sleepy eyes widening in shock.

But despite being shocked, he didn’t show any other changes, as if he was expecting Elena’s arrival.

Elena rushed to Lupes’ side and punched him.

Bam!

Lupes’ head sharply turned to one side with a strong fricative sound.

She then kicked him in the stomach, knocking him down.

Then, she climbed on top of him and pummeled his face a few more times.

“Stop projecting your useless inferiority complex onto me, you punk!”

In an instant, his face became swollen. Elena grabbed Lupes by the collar. His lips obviously busted.

Meanwhile, Lupes only smiled.

His black hair tangled.

Brown eyes stared at Elena.

Then, the swollen lips slightly opened.

“I… I hate you.”

What did he mean, saying something like that?

Elena’s eyebrows rose wildly.

“I hate you too, you motherfucker!”

“I hated you before you came into the tower.”

Lupes grabbed the hand that was holding him by the collar and roughly pulled it off.

Elena thought about hitting him one more time but decided to get up.

Now to hear what the guy who kept rambling about has to say.

Lupes wiped the blood from his lips and threw a vicious glare at Elena.

He entered the tower at a young age no less than her.

However, when he learned that a child – who was called Elena and was the same age as him but wasn’t formally inducted as a wizard – boosted the profit of Magic Tower with ‘Rose,’ his heart began to twist with jealousy.

He could do better than her.

Lupes believed so and tried to catch up with Elena.

But he couldn’t reach her.

Eventually, Elena Respell quickly rose to the position of Chief Researcher.

She quickly climbed to a place he couldn’t reach.

Even if she’s the same age as him.

She had always developed any potion with ease.

So he wanted to retaliate against her.

Some time ago, Lupes wanted to steal her research data.

Unfortunately, Elena caught Dulmi.

Never had he been more humiliated than when she showed him the video sphere.

However, a few days ago, the ‘Black Grass’ she developed made record sales comparable to ‘Rose.’

When he heard the news, he couldn’t stand it.

Therefore, Lupes decided to make a mess of her laboratory which contained Elena’s years of hard work.

He again asked the wizard who set a barrier in Elena’s laboratory.

That person shuddered and refused, but Lupes asserted that it was the last time.

Besides, he was obliged to do him a favor.

At the same time, Elena Respell was busy practicing magic.

Lupes opened the door to the laboratory once the barrier was lifted. And apparently, there was no video sphere attached inside.

Despite doing this before, he couldn’t help but think that she was stupid to not install a video sphere here.

Lupes then destroyed everything Elena Respell made and happily left.

“Hahaha!”

After hearing his ridiculous story, Elena laughed.

She pulled the video sphere out of her arms.

Lupes’ eyes widened at the appearance of the video ball.

Elena said while injecting magical energy into the video sphere.

“How can you have the gall to look down on me? You never thought that invisibility magic would do the trick, did you?”

From her sarcastic tone, Lupes bit his lips in frustration.

“You seem to be caught up in your inferiorities, you can’t even properly judge the situation?”

“Hey, shut your mouth!”

“You shut your mouth.”

The words that came out of Elena’s mouth were faint.

Yet the frosty look was still there.

If looks could kill, her glare would have annihilated Lupes from any moment now.

“Now, in this situation, do you still have the sense to comprehend what I will say?

Elena’s right eyebrow rose.

She moved closer to Lupes as her lips slowly parted.

“Do you think I got to this position without exerting any effort?”

Her blue eyes flashed with anger.

“I was 13 years old, from the moment I discovered my talent in magic until now, more than 10 years have passed. There has never been a single moment that I did not strive for my goals.”

She gnashed her molars and spoke.

“You know what I haven’t done yet? Except for when I’m sick, I have never slept for more than six hours in a day. Do you understand that?!”

A voice filled with indignation emanated from Elena.

Lupes did not respond.

At the same time, some people began to take notice of the uproar.

This was because Elena’s angry roar was reverberating to the opened door and out to the hallway.

The wizards who were woken up from the commotion early in the morning, and the wizards who were about to go to bed, flocked outside of Lupes’ room.

But Elena didn’t even care about their gossiping mouths.

“If you had regarded my efforts, you wouldn’t have done something as dimwitted as this. Stupid dog XX!”

Elena’s anger gradually grew.

Heat spread all over her body, and even to her head.

She could lose her temper at any moment and would again attack Lupes.

She even has the urge to step on this guy in front of her right away.

Elena gathered her magic power in her hand.

It seemed that her wrath would not go away if she didn’t deal with this guy today.

As she stretched out her hand to Lupes, the wizards’ chattering became louder.

However, no one came forward to restrain Elena’s wrath.

It was at that time that a sharp voice was heard.

“What is all the fuss here?”

The voice seized Elena’s remaining reason, which was close to fading.

“Ar–Archmage!”

One of the spectating wizards shouted in surprise.

Before long, Elena’s reason came back.

Abruptly appearing at the forefront of the spectating wizards, the Archmage perhaps used a teleporter.

As soon as her eyes met hers, Elena’s body suddenly felt weak and she mellowed down.

Originally, the Archmage was not a person who would do something like this.

Even if the wizards fought each other using magic, it was the same.

But not today.

Karen stared at Elena and Lupes.

Fortunately, she could feel the magical energy that had been gathered in Elena’s hand dispersed.

The reason Karen came all the way here was because of Elena.

Karen, who was working in her office, noticed that Elena’s magical energy contained considerable anger.

Over the past few years, she was able to quickly notice Elena’s physical condition.

So when she caught the sudden disturbance in her, she hurried straight over here.

‘If I hadn’t come….’

Lupes, as well as all the wizards in the vicinity, would have been lost.

The Archmage looked at Elena and Lupes.

And moved her hand.
