“Nina.”

Looking back at the low voice, she saw Randell leaning at a sharp angle against the door.

“Randell, are you okay?”

“Because of your barrier, I couldn’t even go out, I’m fine as can be. I couldn’t even touch them, It was great to only watch Bellacs falling down while I was closed on the inside.”

“Oh……I’m sorry……”

“Why are you apologizing!” (Fiona)

Fiona flashed her head up and with a tearful face, she shouted at Randell.

“If you’re going to say something like that, get out! Why say something like that for those who had a hard time making the barrier! You can at least try to be nice! This, this, you’re such an idiot!”

“I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. Is that the limit of your vocabulary?”

At Randell’s words, Fiona groped around her surroundings. Looks like she’s looking for something to throw, Nina safely put the cup aside.

What Fiona picked up was a sugar cube that came with tea. A few round sugar cubes flew to Randell. He made a disgusted face as he watched each sugar cube drop at his feet

“You are the one with the habit of thinking that crying and shouting will solve anything. You’re not even a five-year-old.”

“Wh-what-.”

Fiona’s shoulders trembled. Thinking it was better to go back now, Nina got up from her seat.

“Fiona, you should rest now. I’ll talk to you later. Okay?”

Nina dragged Randell out and stopped him from throwing any last words over her shoulder by calling his attention.

Closing the door, Nina ruffled her hair once.

“Why do you keep provoking her?”

Ignoring Nina’s question, Randell glanced Nina up and down.

“You seem fine.”

At Randell’s sarcastic remarks, Nina let out laughter mixed with a sigh.

“I’m sorry I’m fine.”

“Do you know how annoying it can be to keep quiet without doing anything from the inside because I’m afraid that breaking the barrier will harm you?”

An important person is fighting outside, and even though he has power, he can’t even lift a finger.

“Not twice.” (Randell)

He said so and offered her a crystal seed.

“Give me your spirit energy.” (Randell)

Nina was dumbfounded, but she obediently filled his seed crystals.

“Is this enough?”

Randell made a satisfied face.

“Yes.”

“What are you going to do with it?”

“With this, I will be able to get in and out of your barrier without difficulty because it’s the same power.”

“That’s handy.”

Nina blinked her eyes thinking she will have to make one for Adrian later.

“Give me one more.”

She held out her hand and Randell took one of the seed crystals and placed it on Nina’s palm.

Ah.

Adrian.

The thought tickled her stomach, and Nina bit her lip.

She poked her head up with a jerk.

“Then I’ll be on my way. Jack should have brought the report by now. Randell, do you want to come with me?

“Thanks but I refuse the meeting. Tell me later.”

“All right.”

Nina nodded. After he went to investigate the case separately, Nina went up to Adrian’s office. Jack was settling down with a grave face when she arrived.

“Is the story over?”

Nina looked at Adrian and Louis and asked, but Adrian shook his head.

“We’ve been waiting for you.”

Nina smiled and looked at Jack. After Jack frowned, he began to speak.

“The Capital barrier was broken by The Cult, and the Bellacs were called in to attack. At least, that’s the official news.”

Jack sighed.

“The front of the Temple is crowded right now. Citizens flocked to seek the protection of the Saint.”

Then he added he was even more afraid of people trampling each other to death.

“The Saint came out and said to the people to be relieved that she had defeated the Bellac that broke the barrier. But it was like… she seemed to be using some kind of magic trick.”

“Trick?”

Adrian asked and Jack nodded.

“I started to have a crush at the Saint.”

Jack took a playful look at Nina and looked at Adrian again and then said:

“But that was not like a good feeling… Personally, I felt very bad. I feel like I was on drugs.”

At his words, everyone looked at each other.

Nina pointed her finger to her eyes and told them about what Fiona had said to her just before.

“Lucrezia’s eyes were bright red and the iris was elongated. Fiona said she came when she was being tested in the lab. Just like the human turned Bellac we spoke of back then.”

“Is the Saint a Bellac?”

Jack spit out a somewhat amazed ‘huh’ while stroking his dagger.

“That’s interesting.”

“It also explains why it was black. She’s using the power of the Fallen Spirit King, and it seems to cover the entire capital.”

When Louis finished speaking, silence fell.

Chills came up their backs.

It felt strange and frightening to have something sinister on top of their heads that was not the sky.

“To get such power, they will need a real piece of the Fallen Spirit.”

Nina narrowed her eyes and turned her gaze to Adrian.

“I have to break the rest of the pieces quickly.”

“I am not interested in saving the world.”

Adrian mumbled and sighed.

“But I can’t let the world perish. First, contact Prince Faradiv. I wonder how much the imperial family is aware of the situation.”

“Wow, are you going to leave your name in our history books?”

At Jack’s joke, Adrian gestured with an annoyed face.

“Tsk, go ahead. Louis, get Randell to sort things out. Nina will talk to me for a second.”

“All right.”

“Yes.”

As they left, Adrian looked at Nina and asked.

“Are there any injuries?”

Nina smiled and she turned around. Her long black coat flaps lightly.

“Nope.”

Nina looked at Adrian.

“Oh, I’ll give this to Adrian.”

Nina said as she took the crystal seed dyed with the power of the spirit out of her pocket.

“If you have it, you can go in and out of my barrier at will.”

“Thanks.”

“It was nothing.”

Smiling Nina rested her hands behind her back.

“So, Young master, do you have anything to say to me?”

“Well-.”

Somehow he had a troubled smile and Nina softly said.

“Young master, if you don’t want to talk, you don’t have to.”

Adrian smiled bitterly.

“Nina.”

He called her out as he sighed and turned his gaze out of the window.

The Capital barrier collapsed,

Hordes of Bellac invading,

The world was heading towards destruction.

But the worlds he wanted to convey to her were more difficult than all of them together.

He looked at Nina’s side profile. A neat forehead line, her cute bridge nose, and a sleek jawline. Her long eyelashes made him want to touch them just once.

“Hey Nina, about making a lover.”

“Huh?”

Nina’s eyes widened at the unexpected words and Adrian looked back at her.

“Can’t you delay that for a while?”

Nina had a strange look on her face and she said.

“Are you the only insane person who thinks about that in a situation like this? Or do you have a fetish for death?”

As she threw out the words she had heard in the dream, Adrian’s face turned pale.

He opened her eyes and looked at Nina. She thought that even if she swung her sword at him, Adrian wouldn’t have gotten as white as this.

Rather, Nina was the one puzzled.

“Adrian?”

“Nina, that…”

No words came out

He took hold of the desk. His head was dizzy. The feelings of having his dark secrets, which he had wanted to hide the most, uncovered in broad daylight came up belatedly.

It was the first time he had been shaken so much, so Nina strode towards him.

“Adrian, are you okay?”

Without touching him, she carefully leaned her body towards Adrian and asked again.

“Where…….”

He murmured

“Where did you heard that……”

“In a dream.”

Hearing Nina’s words he raised his head sharply.

“Nina, I’ve never once-.”

She immediately recognized what he meant by his pleading whisper.

“I know, you would cut off your tongue rather than say that, Jean said so.”

“Jean?”

With a face that suddenly asked why he was brought up in here, Nina scratched her cheek awkwardly.

“Well, I was feeling down after the dream… and Jean comforted me.”

Adrian covered his face with both hands. He caught his breath and looked at her after he wiped his face with his hands.

“Somehow, it doesn’t seem like a simple dream.”

Of all things to have dreamed of that.

He looked straight at Nina. No matter what the dream meant or what it was, he had no intention of avoiding it.

“Nina is the most precious person to me. You were the one who gave me all my heart and soul.”

Nina felt her stomach tickle and gently pulled one of her hair-tails.

‘Something’s different.’

Although the words were the same, something was different. There was something different than it used to be.

Is it because I accepted it in a different way? Or is it because Adrian’s way of speaking is really different?

But I do get what he’s saying.

“I know. Adrian.”

When Nina answered, Adrian made a relieved face and said

“I’m sorry.”

Nina tilted her head.

“It’s a dream. Never mind it.”

“Even in a dream, Nina. Even if it was a dream.”

I nodded my head at his melancholic words. Seeing his miserable face somehow made me feel lighter. I know I’m cherished, but it feels good to feel this way.

So Nina said with a lighter heart.

“I’m not going to make a lover anyway. Maybe there won’t be any in the future.”

At her words, Adrian said, “Huh?” and looked at her. Nina greeted him playfully.

“Then I have answered, so I will go away.”

Nina quickly retreated and Adrian sighed as he looked at the closed door.

‘I guess I’m being punished for having such a dream.’
