246 Double Standards
Captain Wu had no choice but to use all his strength to carry Shen Luo out of the basement.
Once they were outside the bungalow, they finally saw the miserable state that Dong Heng was in.
His hair was disheveled like a bird’s nest, and his face was covered in dried bloodstains that had been there for a long time. His clothes were also tattered, and his entire body emitted a stench.
He squatted on the ground and buried his head in his arms, as if he was afraid of the sunlight. He closed his eyes tightly and did not dare to open them.

Lian Jing glanced at the man squatting on the ground in disgust. He could not stand the man’s stench and he turned to walk back to the car.
Shen Yin had been observing events through the car window. She was utterly relieved to see that Dong Heng had been caught and that Shen Luo was unscathed apart from being a little frightened.
“Thank you, Lian Jing.” Shen Yin thanked him sincerely. If not for his help, the case would not have been solved so easily.
Lian Jing raised his eyebrows and looked at her playfully. “Do you police officers only pay lip service?”
Shen Yin narrowed her eyes and smiled. “Well, what would President Lian like as a thank-you gift?”
Shen Yin had not been injured this time, so Lian Jing was in an extremely good mood. He instructed Zhong Xin, who was sitting in front, “Book a western-food restaurant. Thank you, Dr. Shen, for having dinner with me tonight.”
Zhong Xin suppressed his laughter with much difficulty and nodded earnestly. “Alright, President Lian. I’ll arrange it for you now.”
He admired Shen Yin even more. Only she could teach the poker-faced President to joke with others.
Shen Yin widened her eyes and looked at him in disbelief. “I still have to go back to work!”
The case was not completely over. She could not just walk away.
Lian Jing turned around and pointed at his watch. He said matter-of-factly, “Officer, it’s already time to knock-off.”
“But…” Shen Yin wanted to say something else, but the chauffeur met Lian Jing’s gaze through the rearview mirror. He stepped on the accelerator and drove away as fast as he could. The car drove off, leaving Team Three behind in the dust.
Zou Sheng stammered as he pointed in their direction. He could not help but say, “Captain, President Lian took Dr. Shen away.”
Wu Zheng glanced at Meng Heng and nodded. “It’s time to get off work.”
Zou Sheng immediately looked at his captain in surprise and delight. “Then I, I also want…”
“No you don’t.” Wu Zheng glared at him and said coldly, “Bring him to the police car and interrogate him separately from Dong Chang.”
Zou Sheng pouted and did as he was told with a pitiful expression.
These were clearly double standards!
The moment Dong Heng heard Dong Chang’s name, he trembled in fear and his face turned as pale as paper. He kept muttering in fear, “Dong Chang, Dong Chang! I’m not going, I don’t want to go! I don’t want to see him!”
Wu Zheng stared at the man on the ground with disdain. Suddenly, he squatted down and patted his shoulder. “Don’t be afraid. Tell us everything about Dong Chang, okay?”
Dong Heng raised his head in horror, his eyes bulging and saliva dripping from the corner of his mouth. “If I tell you, can you protect me?”
Wu Zheng nodded and promised him confidently, “We’re the police. We’ll definitely ensure your safety.”
