Chapter 32

After dinner, the Marchioness called me to the garden for a short walk. I hadn’t seen her in a while, so I assumed that was the reason.

When I returned to the Marquis, I felt as if I had always desired my ‘home.’ In Korea, I used to rent a room every month, and there was never a time when the Palace was my home.

So I really liked this place where there was ‘My room’ and it became ‘My home.’

When I went out into the garden in my casual clothes, the Marchioness was nowhere to be found, and there was an unexpected person standing around. “Prince?”

“Ah, Elsia.”

Ixion returned a rather awkward look. Then he spoke in a monotone tone, as if he were reading a book.

“On the way, I ran into the Marchioness, and she said something urgent came up, so I came instead.”

‘Is there any urgent work?’

I was easily persuaded because she was doing all of the Marquis’s work. Something else appeared to have happened urgently.

“That’s correct. You could have a maid inform me…. Then, I’ll go inside.”

“Wait.”

“Yes?”

“Didn’t you come out for a walk?”

“That’s true but—”

“I can’t sleep either, shall we walk together?”

It wasn’t time for anyone to sleep just yet. Even so, I nodded because I didn’t have much to do in it.

“Well, sure.”

We began walking along the garden path.

Come to think of it, I didn’t use divine magic today. I had no idea how to look at Mana, so I don’t know how long it had been purified.

“Is there anything else you like besides music, writing, or something like that, Elsia?”

“Yes? But I don’t like music or writing?”

“I heard you like a man who’s good at that.”

“It’s because I’m incapable of doing it.”

I had forgotten about the topic after dinner, and I thought it was unusual.

Actually, I didn’t have the impression of saying anything casually. “Do you have an ideal type, Prince?”

“Well— I’ve never thought about it.”

“That’s why I just said what I was thinking at the time.”

“I’m not even thinking about it right now.”

“Come on, there’s no way.” I followed him and naturally carried on the conversation.

“Really. I’m not sure I can afford to think about it.”

“Oh my, why?”

“I have something much more important than knowing myself right now, and it’s a waste of time to think about my ideal type,” he said sincerely. “So, Elsia, that’s what I’m saying.”

“Yes.”

“Don’t you think your ideal type is too biased?”

“Yes?”

‘What kind of nonsense is this?’

He grumbled with a very cheeky look on his face.

“To worship only art is against the pluralistic values.”

“Isn’t the ideal type a very personal value?”

“However, Young Lady, you were once a country’s princess, and now you’re even volunteering.”

“So?”

“Think about a more community-oriented ideal.”

“Prince.” I was dumbfounded and said with my arms crossed. “You realize it’s forced, don’t you?”

He sighed and nodded after a brief moment of silence.

“I’m sorry.”

“…..”

“I understand.”

“That’s all right.”

It was an unusual accusation to make that the ideal type of person is egotistical.

“If there’s anything about Young Lady, it seems that I’m a little strange.”

“If you knew, now pay attention to my ideal type.”

“How could you say something so harsh?”

“What? Is that too harsh?”

I still didn’t seem to be adjusting to my new social status. Because I could only see Ixion as a member of the royal family, I couldn’t understand how arrogant the royal family was.

Ixion continued to speak to me while flinching.

“Community oriented ideal type is not a big deal.”

It appeared that the ideal type was impossible to find in Imperial society. I sighed and looked at him as if to say something else.

“Is there anything you can do together, even if you put in the time and effort? It is not enough to be competent in a single field.”

It wasn’t for a hero who excelled at fighting alone and won every war.

“Together? I haven’t really thought about it—”

“There must be a lot you’ve never thought about it, Young Lady?”

‘Prince, don’t you like me?’ I really wanted to say that. But I had to adapt to the damned class society, so I replied with a frown.

“I didn’t consider it because I didn’t require it to live. I’ll give it some thought.”

Together— If it’s together— In fact, when I had a lover, there was something I wanted to do together. It was to go to the amusement park and ride the fastest rides together. My job was a static exercise, but I was the type to enjoy speed.

Furthermore, because I was fearless, I was skilled at riding various rides, so my dream was to get a free pass with my lover.

But there couldn’t have been an amusement park here, I said, trying as best I could to respond in this world.

“Um… Because I like fast things? There’s a sense of speed.”

“Really?”

Ixion’s face glowed at once.

“Riding something super fast? I’d like to do something like that together.”

“Good offer. Finally, there’s something I can do with my body.”

“Yes?”

“I’m quite skilled with horses. ‘Isith’ is also a great horse.”

‘Horse? Oh, yes, that’s correct. It’s a horse if it’s fast!’

He took off his coat and placed it on me. “If you run, it will get colder.” His physical condition has caused him a great deal. Because of his large physical differences, his coat felt almost like a blanket to me.

“Do you know how to ride a horse?”

“Only at the liberal arts level, and only what I learned from the Marquis’ work—”

“That’s enough. Let’s go.”

“Right now?”

“Yes, now.” He looked me in the eye and smiled.  “From now on, I won’t delay anything any longer, because I’m anxious.”

“A-about what?”

“I’m not sure either.”

“No, why are there so many things you don’t know?”

“I told you. I don’t think about useless things. The more difficult the battle, the more difficult it will be if you add other thoughts.”

I sensed a strange excitement from the man who took my hand in his.

“Right now, I’m only thinking about one person—” His hands were larger and warmer than I had expected, and I blushed unknowingly.

“I don’t have to be concerned about anything else, not even myself.”

********

Niel knocked on Elsia’s door but there was no answer.

‘She didn’t use divine magic today, so I need to see the flow of mana.’

Elsia herself doesn’t know, but there is a distinct difference between using divine magic and not. Of course, he was the only one who noticed it.

Both black magic and divine magic were extremes, and thus compatible. Rebecca, the Lord of Wizard Tower, speculated that it had something to do with Elsia’s inability to use any other magic.

Even Niel, a wizard, didn’t know much about black magic, so no one would know who she was. And Elsia was constantly worried about the Ixion.

She claimed that he would notice her energy because he had killed so many monsters, and that he would keep an eye on her.

His gaze, however, was difficult to interpret as surveillance this evening. Maybe—.

“It’s pointless to wait.”

Niel stood silently in front of Elsia’s room as Heim quietly opened his door, came out, and said endlessly.

“She went out with him.”

“…Do you mean the Prince?”

“Yeah. The guy who’s been wandering around without knowing what’s going on inside his own heart.”

Heim smiled.

“As a result of that, you’ll suffer a little later as well.”

“Do you mean the Prince is having a hard time?”

“Yeah. You’re going to have a difficult time for a long time. Right now, he’s using some force.”

The nonsense made Niel sigh. When he spoke to his brother, he wanted to get this conversation over with as soon as possible.

“All right, I’ll get in.”

“Don’t wait. Just get back, Brother.”

With a smirk, Heim said.

“I said they wouldn’t be able to go back in for a long time. My sister and that man.”

“What exactly are you—”

“It’s been a long time.”

*******

“Ah!”

Without realizing it, I let out a pleasant expression. I was not afraid of the speed because Ixion was firmly supporting me from behind. ‘Isith,’ Ixion’s black horse, ran like the wind.

He drove without hesitation because he was a frequent visitor to the Marquis. He seemed to know exactly where he was going.

“Prince!”

To think about it, I’ve never had such a short and enjoyable experience here before.

I shout with excitement. “I really like this!” I shouted loudly in case he couldn’t hear me over the wind, but Ixion lowered his head and said it clearly in my ears.

“That’s a relief.”

The low voice seemed to hover around my ears strangely.

It was early winter, and Isith was running fast, so a strong wind passed by, but I wasn’t cold because I was wrapped in his coat.

“You are free to tell me whenever you want.”

I didn’t really respond. I was just thinking about learning to ride horses when I return later. When I ran as fast as I could to my heart’s content, the crescent moon appeared.

Ixion fed Isith water when we arrived at a lake where no one was present. We leaned side by side under a large Zelkova tree while Isith rested.

“You must do a lot of exercise.”

“Yes? I just went along with it.”

“If you’re not athletic, you can’t even stand still.”

The calm surface of the lake was lit up by clouds and moons. I felt strangely dreamlike as I sat there looking at the beautiful scenery.

‘What a quiet place there is in the Marquis.’

I had no idea I had come here as an adopted daughter, but Ixion seemed to have visited the Marquis’s place very often because he was not properly attached to the Imperial palace. I’ve never heard of such a lovely and luxurious place from Dalton.

‘Perhaps it’s too far away.’

In fact, even a quick-footed horse would have had to travel quite a distance to reach the Marquis’ residence.

“Ah, that’s right!”

I never thought I’d get this far, but then I remembered something I’d forgotten and shout in surprise. Ixion fixed his gaze on me.

“Why?”

“In the evening, I was supposed to meet Niel. I’m sure he’s waiting.”

Every evening, Niel comes to check on Mana—

‘I didn’t use divine magic today, so is there nothing to record, right?’

Uncomfortably rationalizing, I let out a shallow sigh.

As I did not use divine magic today, I felt that I should quickly return to the magic ground tomorrow and concentrate on volunteer work calmly again.
