“I went to the neighboring country.”

“I went to the neighboring country.”

The day after I escaped from the princesses’ request for an engagement, I explained the situation to all my acquaintances and decided to travel to a neighboring country to take temporary refuge. During the process of explaining the situation, I made some new discoveries and hired a woodworker to make wooden dolls at the Greg Trading Company, but I’d spare you the details because my priority right now was to escape to the neighboring country.

Even though I was going to flee, I was planning to return to the kingdom periodically by teleportation so as not to be discovered by the princesses, so it was more like killing time until the princesses’ heads cool down.

There were two countries on either side of the Kingdom of Schells, one was the Kingdom of Second and the other was the Duchy of Saverdales. The Kingdom of Second was an enemy of the Kingdom of Schells until more than a decade ago, and the two countries were at war until recently.

On the other hand, the Duchy of Saverdales, as its name suggested, did not have a king, but was ruled by a great nobleman called the “Grand Duke,” and I heard that it was a country where agriculture and livestock farming were the main industries.

I had planned to tour the world at some point, so I had a general idea of the surrounding countries, but it would take me about a month to reach the border of Saverdales, a neighboring country, using a horse-drawn carriage.

Considering that even with my current flying magic it would take me a few days to get there, you could tell how far it is.

I didn’t make any particular preparations for the trip because I always have the supplies I need in my storage. Rather, I always anticipated this kind of situation, so I was well prepared to escape immediately if something happened.  I’m kind of astute in this kind of situation…

At any rate, if I flew eastward from the royal capital Titania, I should be able to reach the border town in a few days.

“I never thought I’d be fleeing to a neighboring country for this kind of mood.”

In reality, I would have left for the neighboring country in a more excited mood, but now I felt like a criminal.

I managed to pull myself out of the downcast mood, and with the fresh feeling of heading to a new place, I managed to keep my motivation up as I departed for the neighboring Duchy of Saverdales, using a combo of flight magic and invisibility magic.

It was not a particularly rushed journey, or rather, there was no need to rush to the neighboring country, as there was a strong cloud cover factor until the princesses realized their mistake. When it would get dark, I could just go back to my home in Orargrand and go to sleep.

Then there was nothing special, except for a few less interesting events, such as the appearance of a B-rank stray monster and the discovery of a bandit’s nest being frozen to death. ……What? Enough about what’s happening? No, no, no, you must be joking.

I continued on smoothly toward the border town between the Kingdom of Schells and the Duchy of Saverdales and finished the first day.

On the second day, I couldn’t gain more distance than the first day because I was making takoyaki and pudding, etc., which I had not had enough of in my inventory at my home in Orargrand.

The third day went smoothly without any problems, and as the sun set, I returned to my home and went straight to sleep.

Finally, on the fourth day, I arrived at a town on the border between the Kingdom of Schells and the Duchy of Saverdales. It would normally take a month to arrive by horse-drawn carriage, but perhaps it went that long because I flew a little slower than usual.

In order not to be spotted by the people around me, I dropped off at a blind spot a little before the town. It was troublesome, but I decided to walk on foot from there and headed straight to the city.

I came to a position where I could see the outer wall of the town, but here trouble occurred. A group of bandit-like men with bad looks were running toward me from the direction I was heading.

(Is that…bandits?)

I supposed that one should not judge people only by their appearance, but from all appearances they looked like bandits, and there was no doubt that they were in fact bandits, but as no actual harm had been done to me, I was hesitant to touch them.

In the midst of all this, I saw a man in the lead with a grin on his face and the corners of his mouth lifted up. Apparently, he was thinking of something bad.

“Boss, I screwed up! I’m counting on you to do the rest!”

“Huh? What are you saying—”

After saying that, the man and his men left the scene like rabbits. A few minutes later, I was surrounded by soldiers in the city. It seemed that my first trip to a neighboring country would start with me being suspected of being a criminal.
