Certainly, they were cut, and fragments fell to the floor. Then those fragments wriggled and became new Kuronuri, attacking me. That’s still okay, but the problem was that the Demon King didn’t seem to be affected at all, even after having its tentacles cut.
“Ugh. No sense of pain, physical attacks on the main body are ineffective, the cut-off parts turn into weaklings, and there’s no depletion in the main body? Are you kidding me? That’s the worst.”
If it were hard or fast, I was confident that I could handle it somehow. But if cutting it has no effect, it’s not a joke to me. After all, my attacks were only with a sword, and I can’t use any kind of attack magic.

I cut through a mountain in a momentary flash. Having accomplished this great feat, I observed the situation while activating [Regenerate] with all my might, feeling my whole body creaking with pain.
So what will happen? Will it resume battle, divided in two? If so, I’ll keep dividing it until it can’t regenerate…

The two dark masses transformed into various demonic beasts, then crumbled. Trying to change into something, yet becoming nothing… The desperate struggle made me feel an indescribable sorrow in my chest.
“I see. It can’t handle being split in two all of a sudden… Got it, I’ll finish you now.”
There’s no option not to defeat it, nor do I intend to torment my defeated opponent. I plunge my arms into the wriggling darkness, each divided into two, and begin to absorb its power.
I devour, increase, and continue to live. As the Demon King’s body shrunk, such primal emotions merged within me. When all that power settled inside me, the last two lumps made a splash, turning into a black puddle and melting into the world as if evaporating.

“So the Kuronuri are disappearing all over the world now? Wow, that must be causing quite a stir… Convenient for me, though.”
I had been wondering how to inform the world that the Demon King was defeated, but with this, there’s no need to do anything. The hero selection will surely be postponed or canceled since there are no Kuronuri, and Doben’s village won’t be attacked.
