Chapter 295

That place was once the royal castle of a great nation that made a name for itself in the world. Countless scars had been carved into the audience hall, which must have once been beautiful, due to intense battles, leaving no shadow of its former self. And in one corner of that room, a man was slumped against a pillar in a ragged state before us.

“It seems like you’ve reached your limit here!”

“Damn it, why… Why did it come to this…!”

With the [Sword of the Hero] pointed at him, the Demon King uttered those words in frustration. His black metallic armor was damaged in many places, and his face, looking just like mine, peeked out from the cracked helmet. However, since the big reveal was already over, it didn’t really matter now.

“Why indeed, what an arrogant question. Did you really think that after calling yourself the Demon King and starting a war against humans, you would not be attacked?”

“It’s not like that!”

With cold eyes, Euralia spoke, but the Demon King shook his head vehemently, raising his half-shattered gauntlet to point at Burn.

“The Hero is fine! A fight between me, the Demon King, and the Hero is, in a way, fate. I had carefully planned for that!”

“It seems so.”

Looking around the audience hall once again, one could see iron rods sticking out of the pillars and ceiling. This was a countermeasure against Burn’s Hero magic… a defense against his lightning magic. In fact, due to these measures, the magic wasn’t well controlled, and it even rebounded back at them.

Well, since we had both “armor” and “shield”, it was completely defended, and while Burn was fighting with the “sword”, Tia and I destroyed it. Now it was nothing but junk.

“I’ll give you a hundred steps back 1; even you’re fine! I was somewhat prepared for the day we might face each other! I couldn’t really prepare a countermeasure, but at least I was thinking, ‘I hope it doesn’t come.'”

“Oh, I see…”

As the Demon King shifted his finger towards me, I made an ambiguous expression. Indeed, in the relationship between the main body (me) and the fragment of power (Demon King), encountering each other was inevitable. However, unlike the Bald Demon King defeated in Gou’s world, he didn’t seem to have come up with any countermeasures.

“But… but, no! That woman over there! That’s not right! Why is a woman bearing the power of the God here!? And why are you all coming at once in the same party!? That’s strange, isn’t it? Think about the balance!”

“It’s foolish nonsense. It’s impossible that the great God would overlook evil like you.”

The Demon King glared at Euralia, but she calmly responded. Her presence was completely irregular. And due to her playful interactions with me, she was now fairly strong. She may not be all that against ordinary humans or beasts, but against the Demon King, she might even be stronger than Burn.

Even with a fully-powered Hero alone, it would have been tough. But when he was accompanied by me, his main body, a competent Elf spirit-user, and a Saintess as strong or stronger than the Hero, it’s understandable that he’d want to complain. I can’t say I don’t understand his feelings…

“Well, that’s how it is. Bad timing, I guess.”

“Don’t mess with me! My life as a Demon King…!”

“I cannot bear to hear more of this nonsense. Yuusha-sama, please, finish him.”

“I got it! Super! ‘Lightning’!”

“Oh God! Now, grant the Yuusha-sama’s sword the great light!”

Burn was mumbling something, but under Euralia’s urging, he raised the Hero’s sword high. White light from his own lightning magic and Euralia’s prayer was infused, making the sword glow with an intense platinum light.

“It’s over! Super! Divine Thunder Slash!”

“I won’t let you do ittttttttt!”

With a mournful scream, the Demon King’s body burned white and collapsed. I made sure to collect the power from it, though…

“…Somehow, I feel a bit sorry for him.”

“…Just a bit.”

This Demon King was the usual type that blamed humans, so there was no room for sympathy. But being beaten to a pulp with overwhelming force did make him seem a bit pitiful.

But well, such feelings aside, the Demon King was now defeated. This meant…

“Phew… Well, we’ve defeated the Demon King, so that’s it for us.”

With our common goal achieved, there was no reason for us to stay here any longer. Telling this to Burn, he looked at me with a pained expression.

“…You’re really going back?”

“Yeah. I told you before, didn’t I?”

I had already told Burn and Euralia that we would leave this world as soon as we defeated the Demon King. But Burn reached out to say something, only for his hand to fall weakly.

“…Right. If I keep you here, it would be super! A nuisance.”

“Well, yeah. I mean, I’m the Demon King.”

“Banishing the Demon King to another world without defeating him is something that cannot be allowed… But unfortunately, I am quite tired after the battle just now. You escaped with your life.”

“…Huh, indeed. That’s quite lucky.”

We all had barely suffered a scratch in the Demon King battle just now. It’s not like we’ve walked down a path so arduous that we were completely exhausted… That’s why I can’t help but smile smugly.

Then, Euralia averts her eyes from me and speaks to Tia.

“Ed-san is fine, but Tia-san, won’t you stay behind? As a victim who was deceived by the evil Demon King, the Church will take good care of you?”

“No way! I don’t have any intention of staying behind alone, and if I were to be left behind alone…”

“What? You’d be so lonely that you’d cry!?”

Trying to lighten the mood, Burn says this in a teasing tone, but Tia answers with a mischievous smile.

“That’s not it. No matter what means I must use, I’ll follow you, and as punishment for leaving me behind, I’ll slap you hard!”

“…That sounds good. Then, let’s forcibly keep Tia-san here and prepare to slap the evil Demon King.”

“No, can you seriously not do that?”

Euralia, who seems to have thought up a brilliant idea, was met with a serious retort from me. Tia’s slap is, how should I put it, it resonates to the core. It feels like it diminishes something vital within me, like my soul or heart. I want to refuse it from the bottom of my heart.

“Anyway, is it time yet? The longer we talk, the harder it will be to say goodbye.”

“…Understood.”

As I urge him on, Burn, furrowing his brows, manifests the [Sword Of The Hero] in his hand. His face now was even more serious and stern than when he was fighting the Demon King.

“In the name of Hero Burn, Demon King Ed! I will banish you from this world… from our fellowship! This is—”

As Burn readied his sword and rushed at me, our bodies collided with a THUD…

“…The end.”

“Yeah, goodbye.”

–Condition met. Return in 10 minutes.

The sword passed beside me, and from Burn’s face, which collided with my chest, I could feel hot tears. I pat Burn’s head and pull away, then turn my back and start walking.

“Don’t forget. If you truly become an evil Demon King, the Hero and I will surely come to kill you. Therefore—”

“Never again! Hope we never… Super!, I’ll be praying for you!”

Hearing the voices of the two behind me, I don’t stop my feet and wave my right hand in response. As the presence of the two fades away, Tia gently takes my left hand, filling the emptiness.

“It was really… a long journey this time, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah. But it’s over now.”

“Oh, it’s not over, right?”

“Eh?”

Surprised, I look at Tia as she circles in front of me. Her hair, lit by the red sunset, was as beautiful as burning gems, and her face bears a full smile.

“After all, our journey continues! We haven’t even explored 20% of the 100 different worlds, right? There’s still so much joy and fun to be had from here on!”

“Haha, that’s true.”

The journey, which was almost ended by my carelessness, didn’t actually end, and we can continue our travels.

“I hope the next world is fun too… Is it too soon to think about that?”

“Nah, it’s not bad to look forward to it. But before that, let’s go back to the <White World>—Huh!?”

Suddenly, the world shook violently. Unable to stand, I quickly held Tia close and we both sat down, embracing each other.

“What is this!? Ed!?”

“I don’t know. This is no ordinary shake… Why now of all times!?”

–Three… Two… One… Commencing world transfer.

Not understanding what’s happening, we were “banished” from this world.
