“Demon King!? Why would the Demon King take a request from a human and come to help!?”

“Well, I don’t really know either…”

I reply with vague words to Tia, who questions me in surprise. I have no clue, and I myself would like to know why.

“Well, but for now, we have no choice but to observe the situation.”

“That’s true. There’s really nothing we can do about it now.”

If this was an attack by the Demon King taking advantage of the human crisis, we would have confronted him with all our might. But if he came to help, that’s a different story. Of course, if it looks dangerous, we intend to provide support, but basically, the local Demon King and I are supposed to be enemies, so getting too close might disrupt the situation.

For that reason, Tia and I keep our guard up as we watch the battlefield. And there, the Demon King was continuing a gallant speech.

“Seriously! Because of you, my territory has suffered devastating damage! I won’t let you ruin the world I’m supposed to rule any further!”

[Offer it.]

“I refuse! ‘Demon King Enchantment: Chaos Enchant: Fly’!”

As he speaks, the Demon King’s cloak flutters, and his body dances in the air. The Demon King, who quickly ascends, unsheathes his old sword and swings it down at the winged face.

“As usual, a strange response! But… ‘Chaos Enchant: Fissure’!”

“Whoa, really!?”

With the Demon King’s chant, a dark light bursts from the sword embedded in the winged face, and black cracks form. I couldn’t believe that he could easily crack something that I couldn’t cut… However, the winged creature didn’t care and raised its spear high.

[Offer it.]

“I won’t let you! Humans, lend me your strength! ‘Chaos Enchant: Fort’!”

“Ooooh!!!”

At the Demon King’s words, about ten humans gather at the winged creature’s feet and hold up metal shields. The dark light dwells in the shields, successfully catching the spear shot by the winged creature just in time.

“As a bonus! ‘Chaos Enchant: Fragile’!”

The Demon King descends rapidly, fluttering his cloak, and strikes the spear with his sword as he chants. The spear shatters as if it were made of glass.

“Wow, amazing, amazing! Hey Ed, that person is really strong!”

“Yeah. He’s something else.”

Tia excitedly pulls my arm at the cooperation between the Demon King and the humans, and I too leak a voice of admiration. It seems that the Demon King is stronger than I thought.

In fact, I can’t imitate that. I have about ten pieces of power now, but the human vessel created by God can’t withstand the Demon King’s power, so I can’t use it.

But the Demon King is different. Even if it’s only one piece, because he is an embodiment of the piece itself, he can use that power fully. It’s natural that the Demon King, who can spill the contents all at once even though there’s only a bucketful, is stronger than me, who can only use the water that seeps out even if it’s filled like a lake.

However, of course, that’s only about “using the Demon King’s power.” The battle isn’t decided by that alone, and it’s not that there are no countermeasures against the winged one… But it seems that while I was thinking about that, the conclusion is about to be reached.

“You destructive one who only spouts arbitrary reasoning! Kneel before my power this time! ‘Chaos Enchant: Finish’!”

The Demon King’s sword, held high, was imbued with an unusually bright dark glow. He thrusts it out and rushes straight at the winged creature, stabbing it in the chest. Black cracks spread all over its body, and soon it crumbled as if made of pottery.

[O,O,, offer…]

“Hah! Nonsense!”

“Woooo! Victory for the Black Knight-sama!”

The Demon King, muttering with a proud smile, is met with continued cheers and excitement from the surrounding humans. But he completely ignores it and walks slowly towards us after landing on the ground.

“You seem to have done quite well.”

“Although I didn’t want to. So, what will you do? Do you intend to fight me here?”

“Maybe there are loops where such a choice is made, but unfortunately, I’m a pacifist. How about discussing it over some drinks for now?”

I remember that the Demon King of this world was normally an enemy who tormented humanity. But at least in this loop, it seems he is going around helping people. So I think it’s only natural to have room for discussion, and it’s good to be able to gather information without worrying about the details if it’s with someone who knows the circumstances.

“Indeed, that’s wise. As expected of my main body. Let me introduce you to my favorite shop!”

“You have a regular place, huh…”

While slightly smiling at that line, we were led into the town by the Demon King. Normally there would be quite a tedious process, but it seems that the soldier from earlier vouched for us since the Demon King, a hero, was with us and because Tia and I took the initiative to face the winged one. We entered the town almost without being checked.

And what we learned upon entering the town was that what those drunkards said was not entirely wrong.

“There’s a huge number of people.”

“This definitely feels like they’re letting in as many as possible.”

“They must have been hiding in their homes due to the appearance of the winged ones just before. That might be part of it… Well, it’s diverse. It’s just a town of inferior humans after all.”

The Demon King continued speaking with a smug look, in response to Tia and my murmurs. The main street was so crowded that our shoulders might collide just by walking, but it was strange how it lacked vitality despite so many people being there.

“It’s true that outside seems more comfortable. Right, uh…”

“You can call me the Black Knight. It seems that’s how the human beings call me.”

“I see. So Black Knight, is that shop much further?”

“No, just a little more. Follow me quietly.”

Saying so, the Black Knight turned into an alley from the main street and walked into the darkness. As I continued to walk, surprised to see people sitting down even in such places where there would normally be no popularity, I came to a sturdy wooden door with a small lantern hanging on it at the end.

“Here it is, come in.”

The Black Knight himself opened the door, and we followed him into the shop. There were several suspicious-looking characters quietly drinking in the dimly lit room, and their gaze instantly gathered on us. But as the Black Knight didn’t even look at them and briskly walked into the back of the store, we hurriedly followed him.

“Hey, hey, is it okay to just enter without saying anything?”

“Don’t worry. This shop is funded by me.”

“Eh, you do that too!? Why!?”

“I have no choice. As I said earlier, I’ve unfortunately become more involved with humans. It’s often easier to solve problems with money rather than force.”

“That’s certainly true…”

Punching with a fist is an incident, but hitting with a gold coin is legal. If he understands this properly and uses it accordingly, this Demon King is not only strong but also very smart. He is not an enemy now, but I must never let my guard down.
