His playful teasing made my whole body heated. A smile burst out of Cain’s mouth as he saw my face glowing like a ripe tomato.
“Ugh, this is so shameful…”
Eventually, my legs, which could not bear the embarrassment, trembled and collapsed. When I buried my face in my upright knees, I could hear him standing up from the sofa. The next moment, Cain’s voice came close to my ears as I hugged my knees tightly to hide my face from him.
“Why don’t you get up, Adelia?”
“…Please, don’t pretend like you don’t know.”
“I won’t tease you anymore, so raise your head, Lia.”
…Lia?”
Unknowingly, I raised my head at the familiar nickname that only my parents called me. Before I knew it, he squatted down in front of me and spoke with a playful smile.
“Let’s have dinner together.”
At Cain’s suggestion, I glanced at the half-eaten sandwich. Seeing that he was pretending not to understand my subtle expression of refusal, I added cautiously to his appearance.
“I ate a sandwich.”
“Where?”
“Where do you mean? Of course, here…”
“The stable?”
“Oh, you said you weren’t going to make fun of me…!”
Eventually, I groaned at his teasing, but Cain shrugged his shoulders skillfully.
“I’m sorry. I am such a capricious person.”

“I’ll ask you again.”

“Aren’t you hungry, Lia?”
The answer was already set. Of course, the male lead already had an answer.
“…I’m hungry.”
“Then, shall we have dinner together?”
I stared at him as Cain smiled and held out his hand. It was amazing that the only thing I could do was a rebel like this.

I let out a shallow sigh as I watched Cain’s cunning reply.
As the question of walking to my house to digest the grand meal we just had was rejected entirely, along with the question of returning with my family carriage that was lightly ignored… As a result, I was now on my way home with him across the bustling square.
In addition, walking side by side with him.
While Lily and I were walking together, I could not help it as my body kept cowering at the gazes of people I had never felt before. Meanwhile, Cain, of course, was rather familiar with this kind of situation as he had an easygoing face.
“I would’ve preferred to ride a carriage.”
“Didn’t you say you wanted to see the square?”
I said that because I was afraid he would take me to the Count’s mansion in the Grand Duke’s carriage again.

“I thought it would be better to walk here rather than a carriage to see the square.”

I smiled bitterly, swallowing the words I could not bear to say.
Actually, it was a completely different situation than I had intended, though it was true that he cared about what I said.
I looked at him with a sideways glance. However, I unexpectedly met Cain’s gaze for a moment, and I turned my head in a hurry. Feeling like I was caught watching him somehow, I hurriedly pointed my finger at the square stall and sputtered.
“Ah… Ca, can you buy me that?”
“Where are you going to use that?”
“Yes?”
I hurriedly turned my gaze to his narrowed brow. I then rolled my eyes in embarrassment at the item caught on the end of my finger, which pointed at random.

“I don’t think there’s any reason to ask me to buy it even though you’re going to use it on me?”
His eyes turned cold.
Feeling like I had made a mistake, I quickly moved my finger and retracted it.
“Oh, no-not that one! It’s the one next to it. Strawberry lolly!”
“….”
“I really, really like that.”
Even though he stared at me with disbelief, I blinked back at him as if I was really innocent. After he looked at me suspiciously for a little, Cain finally let out a sigh and walked towards the stall. When I sighed in relief and turned my head, I saw a familiar back disappearing through the darkened alley.
“…Cus?”
The sparsely balding and wobbly gait looked just like Cus from the back. But again, his figure, which should have been swelled like a balloon, to be called Cus, was as if the wind was completely deflated.
Did he go on a diet? Or, was it someone else…?
Unknowingly, as I was about to take a step to catch the man who turned the corner, someone grabbed my wrist.
“Was the lolly a trick?”
Cain, who had returned before I knew it, asked as he held my wrist firmly. I glanced at the side of the alley where Cus disappeared, then quickly turned to him and shook my head.
“Oh, it’s not like that. I thought I saw someone I knew.”
“Someone you know?”
“Yes, though I must have misunderstood. Well, I think he’s a lot thinner than I remember.”
I smiled as Cain handed me a strawberry lolly.
“Right. I don’t think so either.”
Yeah, that could not be right. It does not make any sense that he would lose that much weight in less than a month.
