Mu Mingtang sighed, “It makes sense why you didn’t accept her. If there was a killer in our house, I’d also be scared.”
Xie Xuanchen quickly raised his eyebrows in annoyance, “What are you talking about? No, it’s not because of her filthy motives that I refused to accept her. Moreover, even if she was here, she wouldn’t be able to plot against me.”
Xie Xuanchen was annoyed and temporarily unsure of how to defend himself. Mu Mingtang felt a little embarrassed, but she suddenly remembered what Xie Xuanchen said during the banquet and wanted to laugh.

Xie Xuanchen temporarily restrained himself after his wife’s comforting words. Although he was still furious inside, Mu Mingtang’s sweet smile calmed him down.
Mu Mingtang purposely changed the subject of conversation in order to avoid adding fuel to the fire. “I was thinking about asking Wanyan Duo to teach me horse riding. Since she has murderous intentions, I’ll keep a safe distance from her.”
After Mu Mingtang finished speaking, she sighed with some regret, “I really wanted to learn horse riding.”
Mu Mingtang only said all of this to divert Xie Xuanchen’s attention, but unexpectedly Xie Xuanchen became angrier when she finished speaking, “Why didn’t you come to me since you wanted to learn horse riding?”
Mu Mingtang didn’t expect to incur her husband’s wrath.
Xie Xuanchen grew visibly angry as he said, “You can think of an outsider who you’ve only met once when you want something, but you can’t think of me. Am I someone so unimportant in your heart?”
At this point, the only thing Mu Mingtang could do was to quickly defend herself. “No, no… Everything is a misunderstanding. I merely thought about learning from her because she was a woman and it’ll be convenient for her to teach me. I apologise if you felt ignored.”
Xie Xuanchen snorted coldly, “Then, as your husband, am I not as reliable as some random woman?”
Mu Mingtang was speechless. She clearly knew that this wasn’t the case, but she couldn’t explain herself.
Unable to come up with an appropriate answer, Mu Mingtang could only express a fake anger while saying, “If you make trouble for no reason, I will really ignore you.”
After Mu Mingtang finished speaking those words, she felt like she was acting like an ignorant scumbag. If she couldn’t explain something clearly and clean her name, she could only act unreasonable and blame the other party.
As expected, Xie Xuanchen unwillingly snorted and stopped bringing up the previous conversation when Mu Mingtang threatened. She let out a deep sigh of relief, feeling ashamed of her scumbag behaviour.
