Mu Mingtang brought the meal to the table in the dark. Facing the dark room, she could somehow understand the female officials’ intention. When they left, they took away the candles, so that the house would be dim and the big pieces of furniture were like monsters in the dark. If a person who was afraid of the dark stayed here for the night, that person would be scared to death.
If Mu Mingtang was just an ordinary 15 to 16 year old teenager that was well taken care of, she would be really afraid at the moment. However, she wasn’t. She had a great appetite and finished her meal in the dark. For a person who was once a refugee and had been on the run, how would she be afraid of darkness and thunder?

In such a huge manor, all the curtains, beds, bed curtains, and window screens were changed every season and never reused. She wondered, how much would these cost in a year?
