The room was messy, with empty noodle cups, empty tin cans of sardines, gallons of empty water bottles, and other random stuff lying around.

Walking to the small kitchen, Nile searches around for a second and picks up the butcher knife as well as the normal kitchen knife that was lying in the sink. As he weighs them both, Nile chooses the kitchen knife which was lighter in comparison to the heavy butcher knife. Well, with his current strength, he could barely lift either, anyway. To successfully go to and come back from the grocery store alive, Nile needs some sort of protection. The kitchen knife he picked up should be able to do the job.

Nile then picks up two empty tin cans of sardines and walks towards the door. He makes sure it was not locked. He reaches for the knob and opens it slowly, leaving it with an open width of one inch wide, before he approaches one of the windows. The window is situated only two meters away from the left side of the door.

Opening the window, Nile could hear the low roaring voices of the zombies. He pops his head out from the window and nods his head in affirmation after confirming that the coast was clear. Now, he felt more optimistic. He believed that this plan of his had a better chance of succeeding. He then examined and noted down the shortest path that should be taken to reach the grocery store. After memorizing the course, his confidence slowly rose too.

Soon, he concluded the best path possible. Now, the only obstacle left was the six zombies walking limply outside. Nile would never know when these zombies would suddenly pounce on and tear him apart with their seemingly impressive speed the moment he steps out.

With this issue in mind, he shall experiment. Nile has a dominant right hand, and hence, he switches his hold on between the kitchen knife and the empty can. Now, he is holding the sardine can in his right hand, and the kitchen knife is in his left.

The grocery store is east of the door, three houses away. As the road to the grocery store is slightly curved, the grocery store's entrance is facing the street. Thus, Nile could tell that the door of the store has an opening which is large enough for one person to fit in.

Glancing at the six zombies, he realizes that three of them are right outside his house, while the other two are in the middle of the path towards the grocery store, with the last one right front of the grocery store. But they are walking unpredictably, sometimes in a circle, and sometimes in a straight line. Luckily all of them limping. Nile could only hope that they would stay so and that they aren't intelligent enough to trick him this way.

With the empty can in his dominant hand, and with his little strength, Nile throws the can towards the left side of the road, right outside the window. It flew for a pathetic three meters due to his meager strength.

Ting! Ting! Ting!

The empty can bounce three times on the ground before it comes to a stop. The empty can was now approximately two meters away from the closest zombie at the front of his house.

Upon picking up sounds, the five zombies whipped their heads towards the origins of the sound. Then, they started walking and growling towards the empty can. The only exception was the zombie that was right outside the grocery store. It only stared at a specific area for a while before dazing off again. Maybe because of the distance? Nile thought.

Nile heaves two sighs of relief as he sees the zombies still limping towards the empty can.

The first bout of relief he felt came from the fact that the zombies are still walking limping, albeit fast, but not certainly not as fast as how an average person could. Luckily, these zombies had reacted to the bait. It means, his plan could work.

But he still does not have the confidence to take part in a race with zombies, even if they are only limping.

After noticing that the five zombies were now close enough to the can Nile then acts without further ado. With all his might yet that little bit of strength, Nile opens the door and gives his all to run towards the grocery store. The five zombies noticed. They suddenly switch their target, from 'target can' to 'target human.'

Although he ran so slowly, Nile was already halfway through the path to his destination.

This is largely attributed to the fact that Nile is following the predetermined path that previously planned. However, lady luck would not always shine on him. Soon, the last zombie noticed him and started walking limply towards his direction.

Nile notices that this zombie differs slightly from the others as it walks strangely. As it walks, its height keeps on alternating between 5'6" and 5'5". With slight observation, Nile too notices that this zombie's right foot is dislocated hence, causing its weird state.

Nile suddenly stops and takes a glance behind. There, the five zombies were only ten meters away from him. Looking in front, the strange zombie was also about ten meters away from him. However, this zombie was faster than the zombie group at the back.

Nile then transfers the remaining empty can from his left hand to his right, leaving only the kitchen knife in his left hand. He then throws the empty can as far as he could across the road. It landed again, on the other side, 3-4 meters away.

The strange zombie and the five zombies heard the empty can. The zombies switched their target from 'Target human' to 'Target Can' realizing that the original noise in front of them was gone and instead, replaced with a distinct 'ting! ting!' sound that could be heard elsewhere.

Nile immediately grabbed this opportunity and madly rushed to the store. He felt himself running towards the grocery store, faster and faster. Or at least, that's what he felt.
