[Rematch! Barrett VS Raul]

Tayte’s fighting was barely depicted in the original novel.

That was why many readers thought she was a non-combatant, myself included.

Or rather, Reina and Miss Teixeira were at Raul’s party in the original novel, so Tayte never had to go out of her way to attack. Her main role was as a healer, but… the need for her healing abilities decreased as the party grew stronger. That might be one of the reasons Tayte’s existence faded into obscurity in the story.

However, Tayte in this world was growing very strong.

The situation was the same as the original story in that she didn’t have to force herself to fight, but even so, Tayte was working hard to gain the strength of her own will. In this area, she was more positive than herself in the original story.

The fierce battle between Tayte and Kleine surprised not only the surrounding students but also the knights who had come to spectate the exam.

The result was a draw, but seeing how it had gone down, both of them should get a passing grade.

Now then… the problem was what came after.

“Next, Barrett Alber VS Raul Lorenz!”

The match between me and Raoul was finally here.

“Lord Barrett…”

Before the match began, Raul called out to me.

Fighting spirit burned in his eyes.

“I will win this,” he confidently said.

Last year, Raul had been down in the dumps after his Demon Sword’s power go wild.

But after becoming Holy Knight Klaus’ disciple, he had become able to freely wield the powerful magical power of the Demon Sword, as in the original story. As a member of the Knights of the Academy, his prowess was now well-known.

A rematch against Raul… I was also looking forward to it.

“It isn’t that easy to beat me, you know?”

At my reply, Raul let out a small laugh and held out his hand to me. I grabbed it with mine and shook it, then we made distance and waited for the signal to begin.

“Begin!”

At almost the same instant, Raul moved.

No sooner did he disappear from my sight than he closed the distance between us, brandishing his Demon Sword.

Purple mana clad the Demon Sword—it looked ominous at first glance, but it was firmly under Raul’s control. It didn’t show any sign of going out of control nor the intent of destroying everything else like before.

He’d come this far in mastering it, huh?

“Haa!”

An all-out blow was unleashed—but…

“Hmmg!”

I deflected it with my Holy Sword.

Demon Sword and Holy Sword.

Emitting contrasting mana, the swords collided and a tremendous shockwave went off.

“Not bad, Raul. You’re much stronger than before.”

“Thank you. …But it seems I haven’t reached your level yet, Lord Barrett.”

So he said, but there was no sense of resignation in his eyes.

Raul’s fighting spirit was still blazing fiercely.

“W-wow.”

“So this is the power of the Knights of the Academy…”

The knights were left stunned by our first clash.

Only Sir Klaus was an exception. He was boasting to his colleagues, “My disciple is amazing, right, right?!” He seemed like a father—no, an older brother who adored his younger brother to an excessive degree.

Anyway, our first clash ended in a draw.

We were just getting warmed up–the real fight started now.
