[Practical Class]

On my first night at Randolph Academy, I managed to fall asleep surprisingly easily, thanks to the fatigue from the trip.

When morning came, we had breakfast alongside the students of Randolph Academy. After about an hour of classroom lectures, we transitioned to practical class.

“Randolph Academy’s lecture… it was very intriguing.”

“Yeah, it was kind of different from Astor Academy.”

“I mean, we have different textbooks.”

Tayte, Jarvis, and Eureka looked back on the lecture with joy.

Meanwhile,

“We’re finally getting to move around.”

“No kidding.”

“I’ve been looking forward to this!”

Madeline, Kleine, and Andrei, the physical trio, became excited upon learning that the practical class was about to commence.

“Goodness… and we just had practical exams the other day,” I sighed and muttered.

“But unlike then, we’re facing students from Randolph Academy this time,” Raul chimed in to defend them.

When speaking about practical class, what we imagined was one-on-one mock battles between students like we did during the exams. That’s why we assumed the practical class at Randolph Academy would be the same, but… as it turned out, things were different here.

Instead of the training grounds, we were led to a nearby forest. Venturing deeper, the teacher leading us stopped in front of the entrance to a dungeon carved into a massive rock wall.

You’d probably already guessed.

The dungeon would be the stage for the practical class.

“But, a dungeon on the school grounds?!” I couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

This twist went far beyond my expectations.

Just then, Annette—the student council president who accompanied us—approached and began to explain about the school dungeon.

“Here at the Randolph Academy, we utilize this school dungeon for our practical classes.”

“School dungeon…”

“Don’t you worry. Teachers will accompany us into the dungeon, and besides, only weaker monsters spawn here. Given your abilities, you should be able to manage without any issues.”

After listening to Annette’s explanation, we stroked our chests in relief.

While it wasn’t entirely risk-free, there seemed to be plenty of safety measures in place.

…Yet, hearing it phrased that way only fueled my determination to conquer this dungeon.

By the way, our objective was to retrieve the magic ore from the treasure chest located deep within the dungeon.

“Hmm, the goal is clear, but—how are we going to go about it?” asked Jarvis.

“Annette, how do the students here usually explore the dungeon?” I asked, turning to Annette.

“We typically challenge it as a team of three.”

“Well, let’s go with the same rule.”

With eight exchange students from Astor Academy, forming three teams left us one member short. However, Annette’s inclusion balanced things out, resulting in three complete teams.

The team assignments were determined by drawing lots:

Team A: Barrett, Madeline, Annette.

Team B: Kleine, Tayte, Andrei.

Team C: Raul, Eureka, Jarvis.

It was a shame I had to be separated from Tayte, but it’d be a little strange for the president and the vice-president on the same team, anyway.

“Do your best, Tayte. Always keep your guard up.”

“You too, Barrett. Please avoid unnecessary risks and injuries.”

Grrr.

Well, since Tayte was the one advising caution, I had no choice but to heed it.

Guess I’d rely on Madeline and Annette this time.

And thus, we embarked on our practical class amidst an oddly serene atmosphere, which seemed at odds with the fact that we were about to venture into a dungeon.
