Everything had been resolved.

The men who kidnapped Marina in order to lure me were apprehended and imprisoned by the knights of the Salencia Kingdom.

Regrettably, I wasn’t informed about the results of their interrogations. Then again, I was just a student, and a foreign one, at that. Despite my involvement, it was unlikely they would share any information with me.

Despite the unexpected complications towards the end, we managed to return to Astor Academy with everyone accounted for, so I should be content with that.

— One day after our return.

As I was getting ready to head home and enjoy the rest of my summer break after submitting various reports, a letter arrived for me.

It bore no signature, but…

“Hm?”

I could discern from the faint trace of mana that the sender was most likely Principal Abigail.

“Why did Principal send this to me…”

She didn’t sign her name, only leaving a hint of her mana. And rather than delivering it to me directly, she chose to send it through a familiar. –It was nothing short of suspicious, but as it turned out, the letter contained the information I had been dying to know: the results of the investigation into the kidnapping incident.

According to the letter, it was confirmed that those men had indeed been illicitly mining magic ore in the academy’s dungeon, repeatedly selling it to the nobles of the Bramshal Kingdom.

These nobles were the Lekrusts and the Halmans. But both families had fallen from power and suffered significant losses in finances since the academy festival last year, leaving the men with a considerable surplus of inventory. It seemed they had intended to approach another noble to dispose of their stock, but their plans had gone awry, leading them to target…

“Eh?! My family?!”

It seemed that their true motive in kidnapping Marina was to sell their surplus stock to my family, the Albers House.

Apparently, they had heard of my past infamy, so they figured I’d jump on it if they brought up the deal with me… but if I had remained the same as I used to, I wouldn’t have been selected as an exchange student, to begin with. They had kidnapped Marina as a precautionary measure, but honestly, it was all just a fool’s errand.

I absolutely wouldn’t have accepted the deal, either way. After all, my goal was to become an upright and virtuous hero, to have a bright and joyful future with Tayte.

Speaking of Tayte…

“I can’t wait for tomorrow!”

She was brimming with excitement.

Given that it was summer break and as a token of appreciation for our hard work during the study abroad trip, we were permitted to converse in my room until just before lights out, albeit under the watchful eye of the maids.

Tayte’s enthusiasm was driven by a specific reason.

This marked our final summer break as students, meaning there was less than half a year until our wedding. Tayte was overflowing with happiness at the thought, and Marina, Priim, Rebecca, and Eureka watched her with smiles on their faces.

…I hoped we would be able to graduate without any complications.

I wonder, what was 《The One Who Knows the Truth of This World》going to do…? She remained my biggest source of anxiety.
