[Camping]

To wrap up the summer break, we, the student council members, went on a camping trip.

As the sky grew dark, the campfire was ready.

The maids and escort knights, who had initially observed from a distance, had eventually succumbed to Tayte’s persistence and joined our festivities.

“Tayte is usually reserved, but she can be surprisingly pushy,” I remarked.

“She’s been like that since the past,” Jarvis chimed in.

“Really?”

“At least, I had such an impression when we just enrolled in the academy.”

“Hee…”

I shared the memories of the original Barrett, but in his memories, Tayte had always been a quiet and reserved girl. She had also been frightened of me on our first meeting. It was only after I asked her about her favorite flowers and stuff that she gradually started to open up to me. Maybe if it wasn’t because of the original Barrett, she wouldn’t have become so reserved.

Eventually, as the sun set, we began to prepare the barbecue.

Initially, Eureka, skilled in cooking, took charge, but soon my maids—Marina, Priim, and Rebecca—began to help her.

“Look, Barrett. The stars are so beautiful!”

“They sure are.”

“Well, we’re up high in the mountains. The air is so refreshing, and the stars are exceptionally clear up here.”

Me, Tayte, and Jarvis were enjoying our time gazing at the stars.

“Whoa?! That’s a huge piece of meat! Looks delicious!”

“This meat comes from a cow I encountered during my training journey with my master.”

“…Isn’t it too big for a cow’s?”

“It was definitely a strange cow. It had four horns and was much larger than your average cow. I’d estimate it to be around four meters in length.”

“How on earth did you defeat that monstrous cow…”

“A demon sword wielder is really impressive.”

Andrei, Raul, Madeline, Kleine, and Melia were all animatedly discussing the main dish of the evening, the massive chunk of meat.

“Wow! That’s a really huge piece of meat!” Tayte exclaimed.

“Sounds like your training journey went well. Glad to hear.” I said.

“This will surely make a strong impression on the escort knights,” Jarvis remarked, triggering a realization in me.

Right. Half a year had already flown by.

We’d only remain at the academy for another half a year. After graduation, we would each go our separate ways.

Raul, Andrei, and Jarvis had plans to join the knight order.

Meanwhile, I had heard that Madeline, Kleine, and Melia had chosen the magic corps as their career path.

Eureka would continue serving as Tayte’s personal maid.

And then… there was Tayte and me. We were planning to have our wedding right after graduation.

These were definitely deviated from the original novel’s route.

Wait…

“…original novel?”

Now that I thought about it, the hero party embarked on their journey right after graduation in the original novel.

But… where were they headed?

It was never specifically stated in the original novel.

In the first place, the novel began with Raul being expelled from the hero party led by Barret. There had never been a mention of the purpose of their journey since.

Maybe the author intentionally kept it a secret for future plot twists… I wished they could have put themselves in the shoes of someone reincarnated in their novel and structured it more coherently. Was that too much to ask?

“Barrett! Why are you just standing there? Come here!” Tayte called out.

“C-coming.”

Well, for now, let’s just enjoy today’s camping to the fullest.
