The next morning, Bai Yao finds himself under quite some pressure as he wakes up.

He opens his eyes to a little octopus having wrapped himself all around his body using his limbs, like he’s being treated as a big body pillow. Bai Yao has become quite used to this, after this turns out to happen around 3 or 4 times a week.

Though, after lying there for a few seconds, something feels off.

He slowly opens up the blanket to check.

Mmhm, the little sea otter has no pants on.

Mu Mu’er does not like to sleep with pants on. He likes to simply have a loose T-shirt and square underpants, and let his straight white legs dangle about in bed.

They do sleep on the same bed every day, and most importantly, Bai Yao is completely gay. The two legs swinging about day in, day out is sure to cause some kind of sickness by unfulfillment.

No matter how many times Bai Yao had him put on pants before going to sleep, though, Mu Mu’er is still not happy about it. He might be wearing his pyjamas in full right now, but as soon as Bai Yao sleeps, he’ll sneakily take it off to throw it away – often times right onto Bai Yao’s face.

If Bai Yao insisted, Mu Mu’er transforms directly into a sea otter in bed, with eyes that read ‘you’re not crazy enough to make a sea otter wear pants?’

So after some time, Bai Yao had to give up. There’s nothing to it, really, even if he wants to sleep naked. They’re both guys, so, what’s the big deal?

The pressure is the strongest about his waist. Bai Yao looks down, and sees that Mu Mu’er has wrapped his thigh about his waist, with his lower leg right in his nether regions.

He finally realises the source of the odd feeling he has.

An exceedingly healthy adult male's biological phenomenon.

Mu Mu’er doesn’t look like he’d be waking up any time soon. He’s buried his head next to Bai Yao’s shoulders… And he’s just turned over, and his leg immediately gives his prized possession an unconscious brush. The boy’s arms also tighten in his wrap.

Bai Yao is having quite the difficulty holding on to his sanity. He feels like he’s being burned, from bottom to top, his very brain being steamed. Mu Mu’er is breathing soft and warm air into his neck regularly.

Bai Yao starts slowly nudging himself off the bed, in case he might wake up Mu Mu’er. Finally, he succeeds, and immediately runs for the bathroom. He shuts the door tight behind him, and heaves a weary sigh of relief leaning on the wall.

It takes about five minutes’ cold shower to calm himself down. He wraps a towel about his waist, and stands in front of the sink, blanking out at the mirror.

A normal biological phenomenon.

Yes, a very normal biological phenomenon.

Bai Yao goes “fuck.”

Outside, Mu Mu’er is still deep asleep. Without Bai Yao around, the octopus has spread himself wide, occupying Bai Yao’s warm half of the vacated bed as well. The small frame of the little guy has somehow decided to ambitiously occupy the entire double bed, leaving nowhere else for others.

The little guy sure can sleep. Bai Yao’s noisy proceedings in the bathroom doesn’t so much as disturb his peaceful sleep at all. He might keep sleeping until the heavens fall.

Bai Yao is going to change and head downstairs, but something possesses him to walk over, looking at the boy on the bed, and sit down to observe his sleeping form.

His T-shirt is loose, and the collar allows a peek into his collarbone. Though Bai Yao has been feeding and spoiling him a lot, he’s still mostly thin. His face is more visibly round, but his chin is just as delicate as when he found him.

Bai Yao’s gaze then trends upwards, onto Mu Mu’er’s slightly open mouth. The lips look soft. He’s reminded, again, of the time Mu Mu’er kissed him on the jawline on the beach.

He was completely taken by surprise then, so he finds himself at a loss to remember the exact feeling.

He vaguely remembers them being softer than they would appear to be. The colour is healthy and beautiful. His hands are moving towards them, trying to touch.

The next time they kiss…

Bai Yao’s fingers suddenly recoil as if electrocuted when he realises what he’s thinking about.

People are often attracted by beautiful things. Mu Mu’er’s appearance is one of them, almost impeccably so. At least, he’s grown exactly into Bai Yao’s strike zone, enough that even if he were a complete stranger on the street, Bai Yao would have given him extra looks.

He can’t help but be thankful once more that Mu Yi mentioned Mu Mu’er’s sexual preference. If the boy is heterosexual, Bai Yao doesn’t know if he can be selfless enough to watch and give blessings when someone else inevitably falls in love with the little guy.

Because there is no one that wouldn’t end up falling for Mu Mu’er. Bai Yao is certain of it.

Bai Yao has not had prior experience of falling deeply in love with someone else, so he can’t say exactly how it should feel like, but he thinks that, right now, he loves him, regardless of if Mu Mu’er understands the love.

He doesn’t need to learn to say ‘I love you,’ because Bai Yao will say it for him.

He’s willing to say ‘I love you’ for the both of them, until Mu Mu’er learns to do so himself.

Mu Mu’er’s eyelashes are long and standing quite tall. When his eyes are closed, they stay neatly above his face.

Bai Yao feels like touching them to see if they’re as soft as a sparrow’s feather to the touch like he thought, and he does so, playing with them using his fingertips. He smiles.

His eyelashes fluttered in his sleep, Mu Mu’er mumbles and tries to slap.

Bai Yao reacts quicker than he does, and Mu Mu’er’s slap fails to land.

He’s still not waking up, it appears. Mu Mu’er snuggles against his pillow to continue sleeping.

Bai Yao, amused, lightly takes hold of the tip of Mu Mu’er’s nose, and whispers into his ears, “are you a little hibernating bear in actuality?”

The boy is now half-awake, and his eyes open a little, before closing immediately upon spotting Bai Yao. He mumbles some more and rolls to continue sleeping.

Bai Yao leans closer, almost sticking his ear onto Mu Mu’er’s lips before he finally makes out his words.

“Big mosquito… big bites.”
