“You got a boyfriend now?” Wen Yue looks at the couples’ held hands, his smile fading, “I suppose he’s cute. We just had a chat before you came back.”

He starts to walk towards Bai Yao again, but Bai Yao yells out, “leave him the fuck alone!”

Wen Yue loses it after getting repeated rebuked, his façade falling apart entirely, “you’d pick him over me?! Are you for real, Bai Yao? I’m far more suitable than he is!”
“He’s… not even normal!”

Mu Mu’er does not understand what they’re talking about, but he knows Bai Yao is angry, really angry, so much so his grip hurts a little.

And he thinks, he can even feel that Bai Yao is a little bit hurt inside.

All because of this person named Wen Yue.

Mu Mu’er is slow at using words to argue, and he doesn’t know how to help, but…
Yaoyao is being bullied.

An angry Mu Mu’er doesn’t attack with words, because that’s terribly slow. Instead, he thinks about transforming – he has two sharp canines as a sea otter, and looks much fiercer. He can also yell.

After making the decision, he immediately lets Bai Yao’s hand go. Before they react, clothes are already flying in the sky as a soft little sea otter emerges, baring his teeth at Wen Yue.

A shocked Wen Yue, after coming back to seeing the little sea otter, starts chortling.

“He’s not even human! He’s returning to monke. What a dumbass.”

Wen Yue highly despises adult beastkins who transform back into their animal forms. He’s looking down on Mu Mu’er like a rich, spoiled kid dismissing the peasants.

He also tells Bai Yao, “Yao-ge, are you seriously getting it on with him?”

“He’s countless times better than you,” Bai Yao starts walking forward, and looking down at Wen Yue in the eye in turn.

Wen Yue suddenly feels surrounded by a killing intent, and his voice shakes as a result, “wh-what are you doing?”

Suddenly, Bai Yao has turned into a snow leopard himself, with his ears sticking close to his forehead. He is making a threatening rumble from his throat.

Wen Yue goes pale, and starts shuffling backwards.

Anthropomorphic herbivore beastkins are not too scared of their carnivorous counterparts, but they definitely respect and fear them a little. Now, though, Bai Yao has transformed into an apex predator – far fiercer than a human in appearance. He opens his mouth a little, baring his sharp fangs. His eyes are colder than the waters in a frozen river.

Snow leopards are also known as ghosts of the mountains. Wen Yue, no matter his achievements, is still a mountain hare turned human. He has an innate fear of fierce beasts.

The apex predator vs. a fluffy ball of bunny fur is not even a contest.

Wen Yue tumbles over in his shuffle, and finds his legs unable to support him. He yells out, “Bai Yao, do you know who I am?! You, you don’t dare!”

Suddenly, a fluffy pile of fur bonks into Bai Yao. He looks, only to see Mu Mu’er sticking to his side and baring his canines to… ‘roar’ meekly at Wen Yue.

Little silly sea otter. That guy is mistreating him, and he’s still trying to approach.

Bai Yao swings his tail over to wrap gently about the sea otter, before bring him behind his body to shield him from going forward.

He really wonders how there can be such an innocent boy, who would try to defend him when he’s only a sea otter. Mu Mu’er is clearly not happy Bai Yao is stopping him, and starts flopping forward again, threatening to bite Wen Yue in the leg.

The snow leopard, with his big paws, moves over to cover Mu Mu’er on the head, and sliding him behind his body again.

The little sea otter is blinking confusedly underneath the uncompromising snow leopard paw “?”

Wen Yue is just frozen now, motionless, well, save for chattering teeth.

Bai Yao decides not to let him off the hook so easily.

Unlike other big cats, snow leopards have a unique throat structure. Bai Yao is not able to make one of those terrifying roars that can be heard across the plains like tigers and lions, but he is able to create a deep rumble in his throat. It’s actually more scary to hear close by, if you ask him.

At least, Wen Yue is clearly convinced of the terrible prospects of being torn to pieces by the snow leopard. His face is pale as snow, and he is shuddering, barely able to move forward on weakened legs.

He tumbles again, but the scratch on his kneecap does not seem to register the least bit in him, as he exits the restaurant all ghastly.

Bai Yao does not give chase, but follows Wen Yue’s form with his eyes. After Wen Yue goes far out enough away that he’s unlikely to make a return, Bai Yao slowly sits down on the ground. Mu Mu’er is sticking close to his side, quietly accompanying him, looking at him with bright, beady eyes, before leaning his head onto his body.

With this warm, soft little goofball right next to him, Bai Yao is unable to suppress his animalistic instincts to use his tongue covered in little hooks to lick Mu Mu’er on the head to smooth his fur.

Sea otters have really thick furs, though, and the few licks from Bai Yao barely covers it all.

Without transforming, he starts heading upstairs. Snow leopards are agile creatures, and a few elegant leaps later, he’s already on the top of the stairs. He then sits to wait for Mu Mu’er.

The little sea otter spends quite a while climbing upstairs, and then catches his breath lying on the ground. Seeing Bai Yao waiting for him there, though, he wobbles over to look up at him.

Bai Yao waits until Mu Mu’er is finished resting before going into the wardrobe to change. Mu Mu’er doesn’t enter, but waits for him outside.
