After the kiss, Bai Yao wipes his lips with his thumb, smiling.

The little sea otter turns out to be quite sweet indeed.

Mu Mu’er, meanwhile, is dazed. There is a fog in his eyes, and he looks a little out of breath, showing the tip of his tongue to breathe like a puppy. After Bai Yao backs off a little, he finally realises Yaoyao just kissed him.

Then he makes the connection. ‘Like’ means basically ‘yes,’ ‘yes’ means basically Bai Yao is his boyfriend, and he can have kisses and hugs with him every day.

He’s happy. He has a boyfriend now, his boyfriend is his favourite Yaoyao.
He has a boyfriend!

An excited Mu Mu’er’s eyes go sparkling.

Bai Yao chuckles at the slow response, and can’t stop himself from taking ahold of the little guy’s chin, and ask, his face zooming closer, “Mu’er, do you have an answer now?”

“Yes!”

“Good boy. Tell Yaoyao your answer.”

Mu Mu’er’s tone is quieter. He’s clearly not yet too confident, looking at Bai Yao to judge his response, “boyfriend…”

He sounds like he’s afraid Bai Yao would chomp on him the next second. Bai Yao gives him an encouraging smile and grips his chin gently, “louder.”

“Yaoyao is Mu’er’s boyfriend!” Mu Mu’er puts all he has into the declaration, turning it into a yell, his face flushing in response.

“Good. Clever boy.”

When Bai Yao isn’t looking, Mu Mu’er then sneakily licks his lips and recalls the kiss in his mind. He’s been waiting for so, so long; not for the kiss, for he didn’t know he would be able to have kisses on the lips like so before, but for his Yaoyao, for this love belonging to the two of them.

It’s so much nicer to kiss on the lips than on the cheek. He doesn’t want to kiss on the cheeks anymore, but have Yaoyao kiss the lips every day. Mu Mu’er has made his decision, and did his calculations. Kisses in the morning, at noon, and at night. Twenty every day.

Or thirty, if it’s not enough. He won’t settle for less.

Bai Yao turns around to go back inside. He feels like if he doesn’t steel himself here, he might just devour Mu Mu’er whole right here and now, which would be terribly terrifying for his new boyfriend.

Mu Mu’er follows his silhouette with a spring in his step, when he suddenly recalls something and asks, “Yaoyao, was big fluff?”

He’s been quite distracted just now, so he didn’t realise until now.

Bai Yao nods with a smile, “mmhm.”

“Yaoyao…” Mu Mu’er can’t resist making a request, “can Yaoyao let Mu’er ruffle fur?”

Great. The little guy not just likes to transform wherever, but also wants Yaoyao to be his giant plushie.

Bai Yao chuckles, and pokes Mu Mu’er on the nose with his index finger, “no. Mu’er can kiss, and Mu’er can hug, but Mu’er cannot ruffle fur.”

“But Yaoyao, Yaoyao has already touched Mu’er a lot of times. Mu’er’s fur is all messy, and Mu’er has to lick it smooth again and again. It’s busy…” Mu Mu’er, when unhappy, has a stickier voice that sounds quite cute.

It’s not that he’s consciously producing such a tone, but he does feel a little unfair how much Bai Yao has caressed him on the head while he hasn’t touched the big cat a lot.

Not fair.

Bai Yao really wants to continue teasing seeing his crumpled little face, but then again, it’s true that he’s always seizing the opportunity to sink his hand in fur when Mu Mu’er transforms – he does almost treat him like a fluffy toy. If nothing else, then as thanks for feeding and clothing him in the restaurant every day. Not a bad deal, right?

“Let Mu’er ruffle, Mu’er will be good,” Mu Mu’er is still pleading, “Mu’er is always a good boy.”

He doesn’t understand why Bai Yao is being stingy with ruffles. He’s not trying to pluck the big cat’s fur, but he also thinks, if he doesn’t let him touch it this time, he will not let Yaoyao touch his fur next time.

That’s fairer.

Bai Yao, unaware, continues the conversation, “Mu’er doesn’t need to be such a good boy, because Yaoyao likes Mu’er no matter how Mu’er behaves. Mu’er can be a lazy boy, a cute boy, a hungry boy, or even a naughty boy, Yaoyao likes them all. Yaoyao likes Mu’er no matter what kind of Mu’er it is.”
“Even if Mu’er is a little naughty rascal.”
“Rascal?”
“Yes, Mu’er can be a little naughty rascal, and Yaoyao will help you out no matter what mischief you get up to.”

Mu Mu’er thinks about it, and then concludes, “then the little rascal wants to touch the big cat.”

“…”

Bai Yao’s attempt to steer the conversation ends up making a U-turn.

He sighs in defeat. It does feel like whatever he says, he’s simply bullying Mu Mu’er. He is certain if he doesn’t let Mu Mu’er ruffle his fur, he’ll never see the end of Mu Mu’er’s puppy dog eyes today.

He ends up sighing, and takes off his T-shirt. When he puts his hands about his pants, though, he notices Mu Mu’er staring right at his upper body, with his mouth threatening to open agape.

Bai Yao is amused at the blatant, desirous display.

“Mu’er, turn around. It’s not polite to look.”

It appears Mu Mu’er has become deaf, as he remains motionless with eyes peeled for his abdomen. He’s unblinking, even.

Bai Yao almost breaks into laughter, “good boy, turn around, will you?”

When Mu Mu’er has finally turned around, and Bai Yao is certain he wouldn’t sneak a glance, he finally takes his pants off as well, and folds them onto the chair with his T-shirt.

In the blink of an eye, he’s turned into a snow leopard.

Sitting on the ground, Bai Yao whizzes his tail around to cover up his claws, and tries to make himself look as adorable as possible. Still, being an apex predator makes him look like he’s ready to pounce and eat the little sea otter whole no matter what he does.

He shakes off his head a few times, hoping it might make his fur puffier and more like a toy that’s soft and just right for embracing.

Unfortunately, the effect is that he now looks like a lion trying to look larger and more intimidating.

Mu Mu’er, meanwhile, still hasn’t realised Bai Yao has transformed, but is still turned with his back to Bai Yao waiting for him to let him turn around. He didn’t so much as think of sneaking a peek, because Bai Yao told him not to look.

The first thing he does when he turns around is looking at his own tummy. He pats them, looking dissatisfied.

After becoming a little bored waiting, he starts swaying his body a little to some rhythm, when a squirrel skirting past a branch captures his attention. He continues looking until the squirrel runs out of sight on a Chinese banyan outside the garden.

With nothing else to do, he starts rubbing his hands together, and then moves them up by habit to rub on his own face. Then, perhaps suddenly realising he’s now a human, and not a soft sea otter with a soft little face, he puts his hands back down.

Bai Yao, entirely forgotten about “…”

What did he ever do to deserve such a good and cute little darling.
