After waiting some more, Bai Yao sees Mu Mu’er still doesn’t look like he’s going to look any time soon. He makes a little gurgle, and pats the boy on the shoulder with his paw.

Mu Mu’er looks around, and makes a giddy ‘wow.’

It’s the big cat he knows!

He’s hugged him to fall asleep, and played with his tail like an otter teaser toy.

The big fluff is Bai Yao.

His favourite person in the world is the same as his favourite ‘fluffy toy’!

Mu Mu’er, elated, is thinking about how much he’ll be able to touch him and sleep with him.

He wants to ruffle the big cat on the head, but he also doesn’t know if he’s allowed to, so he bites his lips with hopeful eyes.

Bai Yao, though, misunderstands, and worried that Mu Mu’er might be hesitant due to fright, lowers himself to back off a little.

However, Mu Mu’er quickly follows after him. His expression becomes quite obvious.

He’s not afraid, he wants to touch.

So Bai Yao obliges him, lying down on the spot, planting his head onto Mu Mu’er’s thighs, and closes his eyes.

He pretends to be asleep, and finally, after some patient moments, the boy finally puts his hand on his head.

Mu Mu’er strokes the cat on the fur again and again. When the movement of the hand becomes quite comfortable, Bai Yao begins to purr smoothly by reflex.

When he’s in love, even a scary snow leopard can become an attention-seeking cat, perhaps.

Mu Mu’er was bullied for six years in the sea, and had to spend each day being careful and wary. Scared that he wouldn’t find food for the day or bitten. Finally, now he has a big snow leopard to back him up. He can go stand proud in front of those he used to be unable to fight back against, because Yaoyao has told him, he doesn’t need to be a good boy. He can even be a little naughty rascal.

The joy in him is almost overflowing. He leans down to whisper in Bai Yao’s ears, “boyfriend…”

Bai Yao makes a low chuffle and continues to sleep.

Mu Mu’er is in wonderment at how soft the fur is for such a fierce-looking cat. He’s like a giant, heavy carpet. He brings a paw of Bai Yao’s closer and puts his hand against it. After having had his fun with it, he continues with Bai Yao’s ears, squeezing them a little.

Snow leopards have sensitive ears, and they twitch reflexively at the slightest touch. This amuses Mu Mu’er to no end, who keeps playing with them with eyes sparkling.

Still restless, Mu Mu’er then has his eyes set on the soft, thin fur on Bai Yao’s forehead. After stroking them, he couldn’t resist tugging at them slightly, making Bai Yao wonder if the boy wants some of his fur to make a sea otter nest.

He quickly turns back human before the little guy can turn him naked, pulling a blanket nearby to wrap around himself in lightning speed.

Mu Mu’er, with his hand still on Bai Yao’s forehead, merely sits in shock as the soft and fluffy snow leopard disappears from sight. He looks a little saddened.

“Oh dear me,” Bai Yao says, yet he’s all smiles, his canines showing, “Yaoyao will end up a bald snow leopard. For real.”

Mu Mu’er still misses the big snow leopard, though, so he looks at Bai Yao with puppy dog eyes. He still wants the big fluff.

Bai Yao offers a suggestion, “you can touch me like this.”

Mu Mu’er spurns the suggestion, though, by retracting his hand.

“…”

“Mu’er wants to touch more,” he says quietly, pleading, like a sea otter whose seashell was taken from him.

Poor, poor him.

Still, Bai Yao thinks that while it feels like he’s bullying him, it’s important to recognise himself as being said ‘seashell’ in this case.

“Tonight. Yaoyao has to do work now,” he gets up to leave, but Mu Mu’er still keeps pulling the sad face. Brushing his hands together, he continues to watch Bai Yao.

Sighing, Bai Yao opens his arms wide, “ok, ok. Don’t be sad, here, come hug.”

Mu Mu’er slowly shuffles to the embrace, unenthusiastic that his big fluff is gone. He wants to hug the cat.

Poor Bai Yao. Then again, this is his one and only boyfriend. Who else can spoil him so but himself?
Their fates are completely intertwined by now. He’s bound to the little sea otter.

“I’ll give you the tail. That work for you?” Bai Yao compromises.

Mu Mu’er is tilting his head, feeling that this deal isn’t the best he can have. Before he can negotiate further, though, Bai Yao already puts it in action.

He wills himself to only transform partially – with his tail emerging. It grows quite long behind him, with thick and puffy fur. Not wanting his tail to sweep the floor as he moves, Bai Yao rolls it up a little.

He also thought about growing his ears out near the top of his head rather than the side, but immediately discards the possibly eerie image.

Bai Yao himself cannot recall any other time he’s only transformed a tail outside, so this is quite fresh for him as well. The tip of his tail quivers slightly.

Mu Mu’er, seeing this, forgets everything and just goes ‘wow’ again. After staring for a moment, he tries to grab.

Bai Yao, ever mischievous when it comes to Mu Mu’er, deftly whizzes the tail here and there, avoiding Mu Mu’er’s hand.

Big cats truly have dexterous tails, and Bai Yao finds that he doesn’t even need to pay much attention to the little guy’s movements to be able to dodge Mu Mu’er’s attacks easily.

Mu Mu’er keeps finding himself missing the tail by just a little each time. He can’t help but make a distressed ‘mm,’ he looks quite discouraged.

Finally, Bai Yao lets him have what he wants. The next time Mu Mu’er tries to grab, he simply shakes the tail in place, allowing easy capture.

“Got it!” Mu Mu’er declares excitedly, holding the tail and wrapping his arms around it, while brushing his face against the fur. He must really like it.

Truly, Bai Yao believes snow leopards have evolved such long tails in order to serve as adequate otter teasing toys.

Mu Mu’er doesn’t want to let go easily after grabbing the thick and fluffy appendage. He appears to have fallen in love with it, following it wherever, making Bai Yao ask if he’s a little baby duckling.

In the house, Mu Mu’er follows right after the tail.
In the kitchen, while Bai Yao is making lunch, Mu Mu’er wraps the tail around his waist.
Still in the kitchen, Bai Yao has turned up the heat to cook, and Mu Mu’er continues to play with the soft and thick tail.

Though he soon finds the heat uncomfortable, and wants to play outside. In his excitement acquiring the new fluffy toy, he forgets the tail grows on Bai Yao, and pulls to run.

A sharp pain shoots through Bai Yao’s body, and he gasps, “holy…”

Looking around, Mu Mu’er is apologetic. He’s not letting the tail go, though, but is stroking it in apology.

… Jeez, little boyfriend. He almost tore his tail right off.
