Chapter 230

Lying on the soft bed, sleeping very soundly with rather short breaths, was a blue dragon cub who was quite familiar.

Seeing him like this was not so much different from the last time I had seen him. His final moments had been clearly embedded in my mind.

The dragon cub who should not currently exist in the world.

The dragon who had dreams to travel through dimensions, and who had belatedly changed his final disaster for me and Blanc.

I shook my head.

Don’t be rash.

There was no clear proof that the dragon cub sleeping right here was Alexander. It’s not like there’s only one or two dragon cubs in the world.

Fortunately, the only ones in here right now were me and the dragon cub. But still, there’s no room to relax because several attendants kept coming and going frequently.

Putting on a lock spell on the door first, I removed the bracelet on my wrist.

“…Alexander?”

And with a nervous heart, I called out to him.

Half asleep as he was, he looked up with half-lidded eyes and responded to the name.

However, he couldn’t turn his head to look at me. It seemed like there was a wound on his neck, preventing him from turning his head this way. He groaned.

Wincing as he closed his eyes again, Alexander looked as if he’s wondering if he heard it wrong.

But he definitely reacted to my voice just now.

I blinked. Marquis Evnen, whose life was set to end in vain in the future, had so much involvement in many various things compared to what I originally thought.

The fact that Alexander was staying at Marquis Evnen’s mansion was saying a lot.

This dragon cub wasn’t the type who’d be tricked by just anything, yet he got lured in by that slimy marquis.

It never crossed my mind that Alexander and Marquis Evnen knew each other for this long.

Alexander tended to be very cautious though… But since they knew each other for that long of a time, he must not have expected that he’d be led to his death by Marquis Evnen.

The future Alexander had been betrayed by Marquis Evnen, and this became the cause of his death. He gave both the marquis and the king that the marquis served endless nightmares, perhaps enough for hundreds of millions of years, until they too had died.

His meeting with me was no coincidence.

The timing of it was too convenient.

It was only now that I had the ability to communicate with Alexander.

If it were a few days ago, he wouldn’t even be able to hear my voice because I was still just a specter.

[ If you leave him as he is, Alexander will die. ]

The moment that the voice rang in my head, I smiled. Even after seeing Albert in such anguish, it was still not over.

[ He helped you even though he knew that he was dying. ]

The ordeal was presenting me with another dilemma, asking if I would be able to let Alexander die in vain once more.

Right now, I’d be able to warn Alexander.

If I were to say that he shouldn’t trust Marquis Evnen, there’s a possibility that he wouldn’t die in the future.

Before anything else, this was assuming that Alexander would believe what I’d tell him. But…

My actions could save Alexander’s life. However, I also needed to think about what kind of impact those actions would bring to the future that I need to return to.

It was through Liam that I met Alexander.

This was because Liam received intel on a dying dragon, and he thus took advantage of that dragon’s final disaster at the end of his existence.

For the sake of the uprising.

Even if Alexander wouldn’t become part of the uprising, Albert’s coup would end in success without any difficulty.

Just considering Albert’s sheer power, it was more than enough.

There was another thing that’s linked to Alexander’s disaster when he died, and that was the larger concern.

It was when he met me that Alexander’s disaster changed into one of nightmares.

Above all, his disaster was the turning point to my decision of entering a contract with Blanc.

This was the biggest problem.

Without the nightmare that Alexander had rendered upon me, the chance for me to enter a contract with Blanc would disappear completely.

With this, I had to think.

Would I enter a contract with Blanc even without Alexander’s help?

I couldn’t decide haphazardly about saving Alexander. Unlike with Rosé, Alexander’s presence could truly cause a time paradox.

[ You have only one chance, and it’s today. ]

My hands, drawn into tight fists, felt strained. Everything that Albert did for me flitted through my mind.

The humiliation that he endured for me.

However, I also knew that Albert changed his final act of defiance before dying, all for Blanc’s sake.

Guilt enveloped me heavily.

I knew that Blanc didn’t want Alexander to die either. Especially so since they were both dragon cubs.

“…There’s a human like you, too.”

Alexander’s words from before came to mind. Everything felt so vivid.

Letting out a heavy exhale, I shook my head.

I was the type of person who was deathly afraid of pain. Would I still be Blanc’s contractor had it not been for Alexander’s actions?

Was the bond I had with Blanc or the time I spent with him enough to give me the courage to overcome that pain?

Before Alexander’s disaster, I was frightened just by the idea of entering a contract with Blanc.

Suddenly, my eyes turned to the clock inside the room.

There was more time than I thought. It’s still a while until today would be over.

It was here and now that I needed to decide whether or not I would save Alexander’s life.
