The black warrior was still standing at the side, not bothering to try and adjust his state himself. Instead, he had used his spiritual sense to observe what Zhi Guan was doing. Seeing him vanish from one moment to the other, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

This was clearly the situation Long Shu Fen had talked about before. Without her input, he had simply stepped into the dreamscape because he could actually see it in front of him. Thinking about it like this …

Tong Chen focused his spiritual sense on the spot where he had felt Zhi Guan disappear but he couldn’t perceive any difference. If he were asked to tell whether the dreamscape still started at the same spot … he wouldn’t be able to do it.

Was this an ability? He pondered that question for a while but finally had to shake his head. An ability was a characteristic at first that later developed into very specific actions you could do.

Zhi Guan did have such a characteristic — which was his strong ability to focus as it seemed — but there were no actions following them. After all, ‘stepping into the dreamscape’ couldn’t be called an ability. Unless … there was more to this?

He pondered for a while longer but then didn’t think about it any further. Either way, they would still have time later on while Yun Bei Fen was training.

Speaking of which, he turned back to the two disciples and found that Mei Chao Bing was still trying to explain to Yun Bei Fen. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem like the younger disciple was getting it.

Yun Bei Fen indeed had trouble getting it. Even though he always did his best to learn and do as he was told, he couldn’t help that his comprehension ability wasn’t all that good. In the current situation, when he was suddenly asked to focus as much as he could and reach a state that Mei Chao Bing could only vaguely describe, he naturally wouldn’t get it in a short amount of time.

Mei Chao Bing also knew it wouldn’t be easy. Seeing him try hard, he looked up at the night sky where the moon was already spreading its light. If they continued like this, half the night might be over by the time Yun Bei Fen even managed to reach the right state. This way, they wouldn’t profit from this as much as he had hoped they could.

Thinking for a bit, his expression finally lit up. “You know, we can practice this later on. How about going to sleep for now? Senior blue butterfly will be able to pull you in that way as well.”

Yun Bei Fen was vexed at himself for not getting it but he also knew that insisting on trying wouldn’t help anyone so he hurriedly nodded. “Alright. Then … are you coming along?”

Mei Chao Bing nodded. “Alright. You go ahead first. I’ll tell the black guardian.”

Yun Bei Fen nodded and went back into the room, taking off his outer robe and climbing over Xiao Hui and Da Hei who were lying huddled up together on the ground. He slipped beneath the blanket, turned around, and then stared at the door, waiting for Mei Chao Bing to come.

The person in question walked up to the black warrior and bowed. “I’m afraid my fiance won’t manage to make it in a reasonable amount of time. I told him to simply go to sleep instead. Blue butterfly should be able to pull him in that way as well if I’m not wrong.” At the very least, that was how she had done it in the first place, wasn’t it?

Tong Chen nodded. “Yes, not a bad idea. Mei Chao Bing.” He called him back when Mei Chao Bing wanted to bid farewell and follow Yun Bei Fen. “Later on, please wait outside and don’t try to enter the dreamscape yourself.”

Mei Chao Bing looked at him in confusion, not sure why he wasn’t supposed to come along.

Tong Chen also knew that this had to sound strange to him. “This isn’t against you but I’m afraid your fiance relies on you a little too much. If you’re around all the time, he won’t be able to grow in the same way so it’s better to let him practice while you’re away. Just … get a good night’s sleep or something.”

Mei Chao Bing could only nod in the end. This was something he had noticed himself in the past so there really was no arguing it. “Senior is right. I will stay out of it then.” Anyway, Yun Bei fen would be in good hands. As for getting a good night’s sleep … he wasn’t sure if he could. He still felt that there was so much else to do.

Having heard what the black warrior wanted to say, Mei Chao Bing finally bid farewell after all and went back to the room. Seeing Yun Bei Fen look at him with round eyes, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Why didn’t you try to sleep already?”

Yun Bei Fen blinked his eyes as if he really couldn’t understand what Mei Chao Bing was saying. “I thought you’d hug me to sleep.”

Mei Chao Bing laughed and went over. He couldn’t help but give Yun Bei Fen’s outer robe a strange look while he walked past. “Did you take that off? You know you’re going to appear without it in the dreamscape then, right?”

Yun Bei Fen hadn’t thought about that but now that Mei Chao Bing mentioned it, that seemed to indeed be the case. “Then … should I put it back on?”

Mei Chao Bing grabbed the robe and walked over, helping him back inside. Yun Bei Fen’s first senior martial brother probably wouldn’t care and the black warrior couldn’t see anyway but blue butterfly might have a thing or two to say about that. “Well, it can’t hurt to wear it.”

Yun Bei Fen nodded and then obediently lay down after the belt was tied, snuggling into Mei Chao Bing’s arms and closing his eyes. Ah, if learning how to train sword arts always started like this, he could understand why his first senior martial brother was so focused on it.
