After that, I’ll transfer it to you.” He turned to Song Mu, waiting for him to nod. “If I’m not wrong, you should be able to feel whether it is energy transferred by another human or feels more like that of a spiritual beast.”
Da Hei glanced at Song Mu as well. “Ever absorbed the energy of a spiritual beast?”
In fact, the spiritual energy cultivated by humans and spiritual beasts wasn’t mutually exclusive. Human cultivators could use a beast core to slowly extract the energy inside and use it to level up. The other way around, it was more difficult since the energy inside the human body would disperse upon death. In theory, it should be possible for spiritual beasts to use the spiritual energy of a human cultivator though.
In both cases, it was just a matter of ingesting the energy, and slowly absorbing it by either circulating it throughout the body or in the beast core. This process took a lot longer than simply absorbing spiritual energy from around you since it was more complicated. And yet, many cultivators used this way to further their cultivation because the energy contained in a beast core was much higher than what you could find in most places. Not to mention that places rich in spiritual energy were sparse and vied for by many cultivators. On the other hand, beast cores were available in a much higher quantity.
If their guesses about Mei Chao Bing’s constitution were right, then his ability to convert energy should be top-notch. This meant that absorbing the energy of a spirit beast shouldn’t pose much of a difficulty for him. He’d have to pay special attention to that.

“Mn. Do you remember how fast you were able to absorb the energy inside?” Da Hei himself was a nascent soul-stage spiritual beast so his understanding of these matters didn’t lack behind the disciples in front of him. Naturally, he could see through to the heart of the matter.

“Then let me channel some energy for both of you.” He held up his hands with the palms facing upward while closing his eyes. The next moment, a few thin strands of spiritual energy already condensed above the center.

This way, he would be able to compare exactly how the difference between the energy he received from Da Hei directly and the one he received second-hand through Mei Chao Bing felt.
