Mei Chao Bing took in the second strand of spiritual energy from Da Hei. This time, he circulated it as he usually would and then passed it on to Song Mu after a single cycle.
Song Mu checked the energy and compared it with the one from before. “I can sense a difference. This one feels just like the spiritual energy of a human cultivator to me.”
Mei Chao Bing nodded and then produced a strand of his own energy that was the same size as the one he had just gotten from Da Hei. “How does it compare to this?”
Song Mu checked and shook his head. “I can’t sense any difference.”
Mei Chao gave a hum. So, if he dealt with foreign energy the same way as everyone else did, it would result in becoming the regular spiritual energy of a human cultivator. It didn’t differ at all from the energy he had cultivated after taking in the surrounding spiritual energy. That … shouldn’t be what his constitution was about.
He stayed quiet for a moment, pondering by himself. He felt that they were close to figuring out the underlying principle but he was still lacking some perspective. Could it be that his ability to convert energy was simply faster? But then, his cultivation speed should have been much higher in general and even though he could be called a talent, it wasn’t to this degree.
Then what? Where was the difference between himself and other human cultivators? What could he do that others couldn’t? Where was the key to his Master’s plan hidden?

Maybe he had no special constitution, maybe he wasn’t even relevant to his Master’s plan, and all of this had only been another smokescreen set up by his Master to have them run around like headless flies while he followed his actual plan.
Song Mu furrowed his brows and reached out, putting a hand on Mei Chao Bing’s arm. “Ah Bing, talk to us. Maybe we can help.”
Mei Chao Bing pulled himself out of his thoughts and sighed. “Just now, I wanted to test what I have to do with the energy to convert it. If I only take it in but don’t do anything with it, it stays the same and can be passed on in the exact same way it was before. If I cultivate for one cycle, it turns into my energy just like for every other cultivator. So … where does the rumored constitution come into play? Is it actually real?”
Song Mu raised his brows. Was it real? He originally felt that it had to be but thinking of Feng Bai Xiao … he wouldn’t put it past that man to come up with a plan so elaborate that they thought of something else entirely than what was really going on.
While the two disciples pondered, Da Hei also reached out, grabbing Mei Chao Bing’s other arm. Turning it around, he felt his pulse and then used some spiritual energy to probe his body while reaching out to do the same with Song Mu.
Mei Chao Bing and Song Mu both turned to look at him but he didn’t explain. They also didn’t want to disturb him so they quietly let him proceed. Anyway, Da Hei was currently Mei Chao Bing’s contracted spirit beast. He wouldn’t harm them.
After a moment, Da Hei retracted both hands and tilted his head. These two might not realize it but spirit beasts were more sensitive to energy than human cultivators were and their senses were also heightened. Thus, they were able to notice some things that were out of the realm of what humans could perceive.
Raising his gaze to Mei Chao Bing’s face, he gave a hum. “You do have a special constitution. It actually seems pretty strong.” Yes, even though he couldn’t say exactly what kind of constitution it was, that was only because he had never been in contact with it. He could absolutely confirm that it was there.
Mei Chao Bing raised his brows. “You can tell? Then can you also tell how to use it?”
Da Hei laughed faintly. “If it was so easy, there wouldn’t be so many people who have one but don’t know about it. Anyway, you don’t have to worry that this is some elaborate ploy. You only need to figure out the way to make use of it.”

Da Hei watched his expression and leaned back, looking somewhat lazy. “You know, you might be making this too complicated. A constitution is different from an ability. Sure, it allows you to do something but it’s more inherent. You don’t actually have to do something to do something if you catch my drift.”

Yes, with an ability, you had the potential to do something but it needed hard work to make it possible. A constitution was different. You were born with it already fully activated. There was no way to upgrade it or get better control of it. It was simply there.
