Mei Chao Bing pursed his lips. “You’re not wrong but this can’t be easily tested. The risk …” He shook his head. Taking in vengeful energy was dangerous as well but the effect when it went wrong would only manifest at a later time. Taking in more energy than you could handle was different though. If this happened, the consequences would be immediate and they weren’t pretty. Not to mention that this was both dangerous to him and also a threat to everyone close by.

Da Hei simply raised his brows. “Do you have a choice though? You want to use this ability to help your own people. There isn’t much time left so you have to figure this out fast. Can you really think about the risks despite that?”

Song Mu looked at Da Hei and furrowed his brows before turning back to Mei Chao Bing. “I agree that trying this might be necessary but let’s think about it slowly. If you were injured, that also wouldn’t do.”

Mei Chao Bing hesitated. In fact, if he was badly injured, it might help with thwarting his Master’s plan. Still, the result of taking in too much energy was usually an explosion of exactly that energy, plus everything already stored in your body. Seeing as he was at the nascent soul stage … he was likely to blow up the whole town if this went wrong.

Raising his head to look at Yun Bei Fen, he naturally had his doubts about this. Yes, they had to try somehow but … it was too dangerous for everyone around. They would need to go elsewhere or find another way to protect everyone else. How to do that … He thought for a moment and finally nodded. “If we try, we need to go out of town and set up some arrays.”

This wasn’t perfect either but with both Song Mu and Da Hei around, these preparations should be enough to ensure that the consequences wouldn’t be too drastic even if things went wrong. Considering the time constraints, it was the best they could do.

“How should we try though? We would need a lot of energy to test this and I don’t think I have the resources to pull this off.” Saying this, he dug through his spatial bag, pulling out everything that could be used.

There really wasn’t much. Of course, cultivators could use pills or potions to help them level up but his Master had always stressed that these weren’t a good source of energy. Rather than that, he stressed finding an environment rich in spiritual energy and cultivating there for a stretch of time before consolidating the new realm you reached through practice. Because of this, what Mei Chao Bing had received as resources had usually been things like weapons or talismans that could be used to attack or defend. Even healing potions had been rare because his Master didn’t want him to rely on these too much.

Looking through the whole bag, he was finally only able to take out two pills and their level wasn’t even high. In fact, thinking back now, these probably hadn’t been given by his Master but were found outside. The quality was questionable and the amount of energy contained inside low. At his current level, it was like a drop in the ocean.

Song Mu wasn’t surprised when he saw this result. He also knew how Mei Chao Bing’s Master had been so he hadn’t thought he’d have much. He looked through his own bag and managed to find two more potions and three pills. It wasn’t much either since his conditions both in the sect and at home had always been good and he only used these to supplement if he wanted to attempt breaking through to the next level. Because of this, their level was much higher than Mei Chao Bing’s pills though. Putting his yield into Mei Chao Bing’s palm, he turned to look at Da Hei.

The midnight wolf only raised his brows with a lazy attitude. “What? I’m a spirit beast. Do you really think I’m carrying pills and potions around?”

Song Mu could only smile wryly. “At your level? Yes, I actually figured you did …”

Da Hei pursed his lips and shook his head. “I don’t. But it’s not like you’re the only ones here. Just ask around and gather more from the other disciples. I’m sure you’ll be able to get enough.”

Mei Chao Bing hummed and carefully put the resources they had gathered so far into his spatial bag. They would need a lot but there were also a lot of disciples so Da Hei wasn’t wrong about that. Whether everyone would be willing to give these resources up though … that was still the question.

Still, he could only give it a try. If it worked, that would be good. If not, they had at least tried. And he’d be able to judge from the traces the pills and potions gave off how much energy these roughly contained. Thus, they didn’t need to start before they didn’t have enough. If there was only lacking a little, they could also travel to the nearest place that would allow them to make up for the missing energy. Then, they would have one attempt to see if this worked.

Getting to his feet, Mei Chao Bing first walked up to his little bunny. Knowing Elder Baili and his relationship with his disciples, it was likely that they all carried enough resources. Plus, there was also the second disciple who liked tinkering with things. Maybe he had come up with something in this regard as well.

When Yun Bei Fen heard that Mei Chao Bing needed his help to gather resources, his eyes immediately lit up. With a happy expression, he turned over his spatial bag and let him look through it, hoping that Mei Chao Bing would be able to find everything he needed. Anyway, it was rare to get a chance to help out so he had to take it!
