This time around, it was even more difficult for Luo Lin not to turn around so he could look at his lover and give him a reassuring smile. He sighed, feeling that this was the kind of conversation they should have had at home when they were alone and knew that nobody would bother them for a while. Their current situation really didn’t come with the right atmosphere for speaking love words.

Hearing him sigh, Shen Lei didn’t get what his lover meant for once and his brows furrowed tightly. He should have beaten that guy harder back then. He sure deserved it. Afraid of bringing up bad memories, he rubbed the back of Luo Lin’s hand and sighed as well. “Let’s not talk about it if it’s too tough to think about. There are lots of better things to talk about.”

Luo Lin chuckled. “That’s not what I meant. He … didn’t treat me badly. I suppose … he just wasn’t as enthusiastic as others but that is also in line with his character. Anyway, nobody ever treated me as well as you do.”

His eyes curved as he said the last sentence. This wasn’t just him speaking love words. It really was the case. When it came to his relationship with Shen Lei, there was absolutely nothing he wasn’t happy with.

Honestly, it wasn’t a surprise. Shen Lei genuinely liked him which showed in the way he cared about his opinions and well-being. That alone made him a better lover than half the men he had been with. As for the rest … well, he also had other qualities. For example, he was very observant and most of the time, he was communicative. When had there ever been something they couldn’t agree on?

Naturally, he also didn’t mind that those great qualities of his came in a very handsome, very well-built package. Ah, just thinking about it, he felt that it was a pity they had to wait to finish this mission.

Luo Lin sighed again. “I hope everything will turn out well here in the border region. I want to go back to the sect as soon as possible.”

Shen Lei raised his brows, his lips naturally curving up. “Isn’t it also nice to do a mission together every now and then?” Usually, he went out with Zhi Guan, Xi Ju Hai, or some other disciples of their generation while Luo Lin stayed at the sect grounds. Come to think of it, they had never done a mission just the two of them although there had been two or three missions that they had both been a part of. This definitely needed to be changed after they went back!

Luo Lin next to him hummed. “It would be much nicer if our lives weren’t on the line and we could have a few breaks in between to take some time for us though.”

Shen Lei pulled his hand up to his lips and pressed a kiss on top while continuing to stare at the flap of the tent. “We’ll do one of those after we go back. Well, let’s have the wedding first. It’ll be convenient since everyone else will likely stay in the sect for a while as well.” Yes, even someone like Zhi Guan who often went out on missions to perfect his sword arts or find a new tome to study would probably take a break after this event. It was the perfect time if they wanted to get married with all their friends around.

Luo Lin hummed, a tilt to the end of the sound. His wedding … it was still odd to think about. He had never expected to actually have one in this life. Sure, he had hoped for it but he hadn’t thought that dream would come true. Too many years had passed and too many men he had met had been utter disappointments. Now, he finally had what he wanted. It still felt a little unreal.

A moment passed and Luo Lin sighed again. “Ah, I want to kiss you.”

Shen Lei laughed. “Well, wait until after we enter the tent. I’ll kiss you all you want then.”

“I’m afraid Elder Fa might have something against that.”

“Then maybe we can borrow another one while they discuss what to do.”

Luo Lin chuckled. “That does sound like a plan.”

The two of them fell silent again, just watching the entrance of the tent. So far, it really didn’t look as if they would get to enter soon. Well, come to think of it, it wasn’t odd either. In their town, they also only went to the courtyards where the Elders lived if there was something to report. Otherwise, everyone was busy with their own tasks or otherwise rested in their own rooms. They wouldn’t go to the Elders’ places just to have a chat. Since this was the case with their disciples, why would it be any different for the Zhen Yan Sect? It was just that this likely meant they’d have to wait for a long time.

“Should we change plans? It could take hours until somebody goes in. In fact, what should we do if nobody goes in at all today? We don’t have forever.”

Shen Lei pursed his lips. This was indeed a problem. As for how to solve it … “We could cause a ruckus somewhere close by so they’ll have to check. Aren’t they likely to report to the Elder after that?”

Luo Lin nodded. “It’ll be difficult without getting caught though and if they do … I don’t think we’ll have a chance to speak to the Elder.”

Shen Lei could only smile wryly. “Then can we move into the tent without seeing what’s inside?”

Luo Lin blinked his eyes and finally turned to face his lover after all. Actually … “That might indeed work. Let’s give it a try?”

Shen Lei naturally had nothing to complain about. He turned to look at Luo Lin as well and nodded. “Let’s do it.” Anyway, while it wasn’t what he had wanted to try, this was also a good skill to have.
