The two of them moved to the other side of the tent which happened to be where the entrance was. Since this was the case, they stopped next to it, feeling that this might make it less likely to be discovered. When they opened a window at this place, they both held their breath, tightly clutching each other’s hand and listening for any clue that they might have been discovered.

A few moments passed but the only things they heard were the flapping of the tent’s opening in the slight breeze and the continuous chatter of the disciples on the other side of the tent. Clearly, nobody — not even Elder Fa — had realized they were here.

Shen Lei took a deep breath and then leaned closer to Luo Lin. Since their energy couldn’t be detected, they should probably use this moment to check whether their voices couldn’t be either. Even though there were safer ways to do this, it would spare them from sneaking around the camp going forward, making their life a lot easier. Most importantly, they wouldn’t have to worry about this any longer and could make better use of Luo Lin’s ability, allowing them to learn more while they were still outside and moving around.

“It doesn’t seem like they can hear us.” He consciously lowered his voice in case they could be heard after all. That way, it might take a moment for them to react, giving them time to close the opening and retreat.

Luo Lin froze. He hadn’t expected Shen Lei to speak up before the window was closed and had still listened for any signs of danger himself. He turned to him with wide eyes, wondering what was going on.

Shen Lei smiled. Nobody had reacted just now either so he repeated the words at normal volume: “It doesn’t seem like they can hear us.”

Luo Lin glanced in the direction where Elder Fa and the disciples were gathered but, of course, he couldn’t see anything on that side. They were still talking without interruption though so … it seemed like Shen Lei was right. “Seems like it.” Unless, of course, they had heard them but simply not reacted because they believed them to be the people inside the tent they stood behind.

Thinking of this possibility, Luo Lin furrowed his brows, tugged at his lover’s hand to make sure he wouldn’t do anything hasty, and then closed the opening in the dreamscape again. “Actually, I don’t think we can be sure. We probably shouldn’t risk it either.”

Shen Lei raised his brows, slightly surprised. “What do you mean?”

“Well, who says they didn’t hear us? They might have heard but thought we were disciples of their sect so they didn’t come to investigate. As for the energy …” His brows furrowed even further. “The opening is really small so maybe not much of it can be sensed from the outside. Not to mention that not everyone seems able to sense dimensional energy the same way I do.”

Shen Lei fell silent and finally nodded. “You’re right. Those are both possibilities.” He would have taken a bigger risk to check this further if it were just him but seeing as Luo Lin was also here, he let go of that thought immediately. “If the noise and energy are only noticeable to a small degree, we should be able to get closer and deliver the letter as intended. Even if Elder Fa senses our energy, it would only cause her to look down if that is where the energy is and make her discover the letter earlier.”

Luo Lin gave a hum. “Let’s do that.”

Anyway, they had to do something. Waiting definitely wasn’t possible. After all, from the little they had heard from the conversation on the other side of the tent, the group seemed to be discussing something the Zheng Yan Sect’s disciples had discovered out there in the border region. Chances were that the disciples were currently reporting to the Elder and she would soon give out a new task related to this. Maybe she would even follow them to take a look herself if she deemed their findings important enough. If she did, then what about the issue the two of them wanted to see her about?

Having made up their minds, Luo Lin and Shen Lei discussed and finally moved into the tent instead of around it. This way, if the Elder could truly see into the dreamscape as long as it was opened, they were slightly safer.

Thankfully, when they moved inside and checked, they found that there weren’t any disciples in the tent right now. This sure made things easier. They quietly made their way to the outer edge of the tent right opposite where the Elder had to stand outside. When they opened a small window in the dreamscape, they could very clearly hear her voice.

Exchanging another glance, the two of them crouched down. Shen Lei held the letter, his wrist tilted so he could flick it out from the dreamscape and beneath the tent to where the Elder stood. Meanwhile, Luo Lin crouched next to him, his hand raised to open a small gap.

“Ready?”

Shen Lei nodded.

Luo Lin took a deep breath and then moved his hand up, an opening following the direction of his action.

Shen Lei flicked his wrist and the letter flew out, leaving the dreamscape and passing through the small gap beneath the tent.

Luo Lin immediately moved his hand down again, closing the gap in the dreamscape. Then, he turned to his lover with his heart racing.

Shen Lei smiled, leaned in, and kissed his temple. “Let’s go to her tent and wait there.”

Luo Lin nodded and the two of them hurriedly left this tent and reappeared in the spot where they had waited earlier. Thanks to finally having figured out how the dreamscape worked, it wasn’t a problem at all to move to a place they had seen before even if it wasn’t close by. In this regard, this trip of theirs had definitely been worthwhile. Now, all that was left to do was to wait for whether Elder Fa would notice the letter and come to speak to them. And, of course, they also had to see if her attitude was what they had expected or if she wasn’t willing to help them out.
