Mei Chao Bing felt worried but he could do nothing to heighten his chances for the time being. He could only focus on his practice again and put everything else on hold first. He couldn’t give up but for now, he needed to bide his time until a better opportunity presented itself.

Time quietly passed. Since there was no light falling into the room, it was tough to say just how much it was. Even a few minutes felt like hours under the threat of his Master’s presence and Yun Bei Fen still being captured, vulnerable to whatever whims his Master might have. Although, if he did dare to take Fen’er from him, he definitely wouldn’t hesitate to do anything he could to take this man down with him. What else did he have left to live for without him, after all?

Mei Chao Bing’s thoughts couldn’t help but return to such a bleak future again and again but he forced himself to continue practicing. As long as he did well, Yun Bei Fen might be safe. He had to believe in that.

Finally, Lei Chen did not take out anything else.

Mei Chao Bing raised his brows in surprise, thinking that there was still another step left that had to be introduced in more detail. By now, they had switched from small stones to a stone slab with lines drawn on it. His latest task had been to only absorb the energy in some of the marked parts which was a lot more difficult than the practice before. It seemed like these two really didn’t want him to absorb the energy from the surroundings.

To Mei Chao Bing’s surprise, Lei Chen did not take out anything else. Instead, he put away the stone slab while looking at Feng Bai Xiao. “They have made their move.”

Feng Bai Xiao inclined his head. “Let’s head out then.” He turned to look at Mei Chao Bing and then, his gaze fell on the person trapped by the array behind him. “I suppose we will have to take him along or my disciple won’t bother listening again.”

Lei Chen nodded and turned to look at the person as well.

In the array, Yun Bei Fen pulled up his shoulders and his gaze on Mei Chao Bing turned more worried. These people actually hadn’t bothered much about him. They had only grabbed him, brought him here in what seemed like a flash, and then put him in this array. After that, they had ignored him the entire time apart from that moment when Mei Chao Bing’s Master tightened the array further to punish him. It had almost seemed as if they had forgotten about him but now that they remembered, he felt afraid.

Mei Chao Bing clenched his fists. “I will do as you say. Don’t hurt him.”

Feng Bai Xiao glanced at him but only gave him a sinister smile. He had raised this disciple by himself and taught him painstakingly until that fateful day since he needed him for his plan. Of course, he knew that Mei Chao Bing would never easily give up. “Do you want me to leave him here?”

Mei Chao Bing pursed his lips. That was asking for a bit too much, wasn’t it? He didn’t think his Master would do so even if he begged him for it and swore an oath to never go against him again.

Feng Bai Xiao’s smile only widened. “Well, I suppose he is still quite useful not just when it concerns you. Let’s go and drop him off on the way to our destination.” He waved and the array collapsed at once.

Yun Bei Fen’s eyes lit up. He got to his feet and wanted to rush to Mei Chao Bing’s side but before he could, he was grabbed by Lei Chen again and pulled back.

Feng Bai Xiao gave him a long look. He didn’t bother saying anything and simply turned around, leading the way to the back of the room.

Mei Chao Bing gritted his teeth and looked over his shoulder. He still wasn’t sure if he could beat that Lei Chen in a fight and … even if he did, they still wouldn’t be able to escape from his Master so he could only bear it for the time being. “Don’t be scared. Just … stay calm and do as they say. I’ll get you out of this.”

Yun Bei Fen nodded. He naturally trusted Mei Chao Bing’s words. Even if it looked bad right now, he would absolutely find a way to save them. Thus, he quietly walked behind, happy that he could at least move for a bit now and was also a little closer to his lover.

He squeezed Xiao Hui, telling himself again that everything would be alright. As long as they were together, nothing bad would happen.

Lei Chen didn’t say anything and just lightly held onto Yun Bei Fen’s shoulder, walking next to him. He didn’t seem to have much of a deterrent effect with his level not being much higher but he didn’t look worried either as if he was well aware that the person he was currently guarding wasn’t going to try anything and that even if he did, he wouldn’t get far.

Feng Bai Xiao lightly touched the wall at the back of the room and a few faint lines lit up. When he stepped through, his figure seemed to blur for a heartbeat and when it became solid again, it was as if they could only see it through a layer of rippling water.

Mei Chao Bing furrowed his brows but stepped through that layer behind him. He felt slightly disoriented in the same way he would when stepping through an array. It seemed that with this, they had actually left the headquarters of the demonic faction and had come to another place entirely. Looking around … he also had a rough guess just where they were. He had no idea why his Master would bring them here though.
