Gu Siyi thought for a while and said, “No, It’s fine, I don’t need you to make an exercise book, I just thought you would recommend me one.”

Xia Zhijun glanced at her. “You don’t think I can do it?”

“It’s not that…” Gu Siyi was afraid of being misunderstood so she hurriedly explained her reasoning. “I think you have heavy burdens. You have to keep first place in your academics, you have to work part-time to make money, and you have to learn the skills of this job by yourself… I’m very grateful for the money, but I know how much work is needed to compile an exercise book, so it’s better if you spent that time watching a movie or playing football, spend it to relax.”

A wide grin spread around Xia Zhijun’s face. “So now you’re caring about me?”

Gu Siyi felt even more embarrassed, “You are a great student, I’m the one who drags you back… and you‘ll be too tired”

Xia Zhijun didn’t respond and instead continued walking toward the train station. Gu followed behind him hoping he would forget about the exercise book altogether.

Eventually, Xia Zhijun slowed down to match her pace and the two were walking in the same line again. He raised his hand and set his palm on Gu Siyi’s head. “You are… very good.”

“Huh?” Gu Siyi didn’t understand.

Everything about him was taken for granted by everyone, including his parents. They only cared about his achievements, how high he flew, whether he met the family’s expectations and whether he could do better.

No one knew that doing everything flawlessly and becoming the perfect persona in their minds was also hard work.

“It will take about 20 minutes to get to the station from here,” said Xia Zhijun. “Do you want to take a taxi or walk?”

“Let’s walk,” said Gu Siyi confidently. “I just ate so I need to digest some of this food.”

When the two walked for around ten minutes Gu Siyi began slightly regretting her decision. Although she always walked these distances and further, Gu Siyi started feeling a little dazed. But she powered through and soon the dimly lit station was in sight.

It was 8 p.m., which was the peak period of transportation. There were huge crowds of people coming in and out.

They managed to squeeze their way into a carriage but there was only space to stand.

Xia Zhijun held onto the handle as more and more people made their way into the carriage. Gu Siyi tried to stand near him when she was knocked to the side by a barrage of people. “Ow….”

“Come here.” Xia Zhijun wrapped his arms around Gu Siyi’s shoulders and brought her towards him.

“…” Gu Siyi was caught off guard from suddenly being at his chest.

The unique clear fragrance of his body seemed to form an independent world, covering her completely, and the chaotic noise and smell of the outside world disappeared.

He put his hand on her waist and tightened his grip.

Gu Siyi felt her legs becoming weak as she pressed against his body. Her eyes crossed Xia Zhijun’s shoulders, and everything else disappeared.

The inexplicable sense of guilty conscience made her lower her eyes, not daring to meet his gaze.

Xia Zhijun lowered his head, leaned to her ear, and chuckled lightly, “Why is your waist so thin?”

“…!!!” a deep shade of red spread around her face. We’re forced to huddle right now, why is he saying these things?

Gu Siyi wanted to jump away from him, but too many people were in the way. She was enclosed in his arms by a dense wall of people.

Why did I take the subway? I should have chosen to take a taxi back to school.

Feeling her irritability, Xia Zhijun stood up straight and relaxed his arms.

When the metro finally arrived at the station, the carriage seemed to burst out from the number of people inside. Xia Zhijun held Gu Siyi’s arm with one hand and wrapped the other around her shoulder. This was to protect her from the surging crowds.

Gu Siyi took a long breath after leaving the carriage, it was a short ride but she was already missing fresh air.

Xia Zhijun followed her in a slow and unhurried manner, a little cold in his indolence, just like his elegant and noble temperament.

Gu Siyi: “…”

Such a beautiful Xuesheng (Xuesheng means school student in Mandarin), the words just now must not be teasing her. There were also times when studying God was without a brain.

The subway station exit was closed due to maintenance so the two had to leave from the shopping mall.

When passing by a Pandora store(A jewelry store), Gu Siyi paused to hover her eyes over the bracelet in the showcase glass. It was imbued with a dim shade of pink.

Noticing Gu Siyi’s interest the store salesperson hurried out of the store and pointed at the bracelet. “Would you like to try it on?”

Gu Siyi shook her head, “No thank you.”

I can’t afford it anyway. Next time I go shopping with mom though, I might try it.

Leaving the disappointed salesperson behind she sped up her pace to catch up with Xia Zhijun again.

As the pair were reaching the exit, Gu Siyi spotted an internet celebrity milk tea store.

“Wanna grab some milk tea?” she asked.

Xia Zhijun just stared at her for a moment with a blank face, but eventually, he just nodded. “okay.”

The store was a little crowded so they had to line up before getting their order.

After some waiting Xia Zhijun tapped Gu Siyi on the shoulder. “You stay in line, I’ll go to the bathroom.”

“Sure.” Gu Siyi nodded.

After buying two full cups of milk tea, Gu Siyi found a place to sit and waited for Xia Zhijun to return.

She sipped her milk tea and lazily swiped through some posts on WeChat Moments. Zheng Peipei and others posted photos of the buffet they’d just been to. Gu Siyi swiped one by one, and couldn’t help but sigh. She had no complaints, their camera quality was really good and the selfie angles were perfect.

There were also a few photos taken by Su Han of the four girls. Looking at the funny expressions and bright smiles in the photos, Gu Siyi couldn’t help but smile. She ended up saving all the cute photos.

‘Such a lovely day!’ She commented on one of the pictures.

Xia Zhijun came back, startling the girl who was still watching her phone. He sat next to her and pulled out something from his pocket. “Put out your hand.”

“Huh?” Gu Siyi stretched out her hand blankly.

Xia Zhijun bent down and placed his closed fist in the center of her palm. His hands were always so cold.

She watched in surprise as he dropped the pink bracelet that was being showcased at the store mere moments ago in her hand.

After smiling at her reaction Xia Zhijun sat back down and took a sip of his milk tea. “My mother has been asking me to buy you a gift, so consider it from her.”

Gu Siyi found it hard to express her feelings in words. “…Auntie asked you to get me a gift?”

“Your mother also asked you to give me hot sauce, didn’t you?” Xia Zhijun’s eyes fell on her hand. The girl’s slender white wrists paired well with the crystal clear pink bracelet.

“Just now the salesperson told me that the bracelet represented unforgettable moments,” he said pointing at her wrists. “I’ll give you a bead for every unforgettable moment in the future.”

“Do you like it?” He asked eventually, after not receiving a response from her.

Gu Siyi lowered her head and extended her arm to see the bracelet in all its glory.

Two small birds were inlaid in the shape of a heart, and a pink colored glaze resembled petals bathed in the sun, which looked delicate and charming. The more Gu Siyi looked at it, the more beautiful she felt.

She buried her face in her hands to mask her uncontrollable snicker before looking back up at him again with a beautiful set of teeth. “I love it!”

Xia Zhijun stretched out his hand and gently poked her small dimple. It was so cute. His eyes were filled with his unique tenderness and affection for her. “I like it too….”

He’s never given a gift to a girl before so Xia Zhijun was new to this sweet feeling. He always wondered why the boys in his class sent gifts to the girls but now he understood that it came with great satisfaction. He now knew a good place to spend his money in the future.

After thanking him profusely, and finishing her milk tea, Gu Siyi walked with Xia Zhijun to the mall exit which led directly back to the school.

By taxi, the trip would have been half an hour, but with the public transport and walking it took around two hours.

When they arrived at the school, Xia Zhijun walked Gu Siyi back to the female dorm and she waved to him before closing the door to her bedroom.

She couldn’t help taking out her phone to take a photo of the bracelet and post it to Moments.
