Inside his room, Lorien can be seen sitting on the bed he created a couple of weeks ago as he couldn't get used to the futon

Unable to hold his excitement he didn't wait any longer and used his ability to directly improve his Swordsmanship

"Let's begin!"

[Dream/Reality]: Improve Kenjutsu

And as soon as it was used, All the Swordsmanship knowledge in his mind started colliding and expanding, getting more and more refined as new different ways of attack, defense... appeared

This continued for a while until some sort of limit was seemingly reached making it impossible to improve by just adding new ways of attack, defense, sword drawing... and making it more complex

So following that, it started going the opposite way, and that is from complex to simple or more commonly known as Returning to basics

The Swordsmanship knowledge in his mind be it old or new started becoming simpler and simpler until only the basics he started with and the much simpler and refined Sword-Drawin technique were left, effectively leaving only the essence

This is not to say that all the prior knowledge and gains were thrown out of the window as all the essence was merged into the basics

And it didn't stop there as Lorien's Ability was still operating

As after only the basics were left it paused for a moment before it started turning those basics (posture, attack methods, and defense...) and the Sword-drawing into instincts

With every Source Energy consumed this knowledge gets engraved deeper and deeper into his being, this lasted for a while until it wasn't able to improve anymore as this Knowledge truly became an instinct

Following that, it seems that Lorien has truly reached the limit as the energy consumption suddenly skyrocketed but there was no further improvement, it's just as if it was thrown away

This is a true limit as any further improvement will be touching 'Mystery' and the 'Extraordinary' with pure swordsmanship

Right now Lorien's swordsmanship has truly reached the absolute peak in what is mortally possible in pure swordsmanship, although it just the Mortal level with no mystery in it

Of course, that's without the use of any other techniques, if someone had some sort of technique weird technique to boost swordsmanship he may be able to match Lorien even if he were worse in pure skills

After trying a couple more times to no avail Lorien soon gave up as it was clear that no matter how much he burns now he won't improve anymore

This is mainly because there is no reference point, target, or example to follow and improve towards, this caused most energy to go into searching for the 'Most optimal way further'

This is like when Lorien just used his ability, he thought about turning what he learned into instinct as he saw and read about in some novels, so his ability realized his wish

This is what Lorien meant with a reference point

Right now there is no target to follow as he doesn't know what supernatural swordsmanship is and how to practice it, causing him to be unable to improve

Actually, even if he had a 'reference point' he wouldn't be able to do so as the energy required would be astronomical

Just the improvement he just had nearly caused his reserves to zero out, if it wasn't for Lorien using his ability In the past month or so every time he finished practicing to perfect whatever he had learned, his energy wouldn't have been enough to make such improvements in a single sitting

This also allowed him to reduce the Energy required to do so as the puzzle is already assembled and what his ability is doing now is simply expanding the puzzle, else he would have needed a month or so to reach this level if he were to start from zero

Taking a deep breath Lorien closed his eyes to feel the changes, after a while, he opened them again, stood up as he held the sword that was next to him

He then started with a Sword-Draw then Defended following that he Slashing forward before going back to defense, It was as if he was fighting an invisible enemy

This went on for a while before Lorien stoped

"This feels completely different..."

Right now when slashing Lorien doesn't have to think about the trajectory of the slash, its speed...etc

Now when he attacks or defends, all he has to do is simply think and his body will act in the most optimal and perfect way possible derived from all the knowledge he merged into the basics

This is very similar to writing as you don't think about how to write every single character and how to move your hand, all you do is think of the word you want to write and your body will write it instinctively

So even though the body moves on its own it's not actually making its own decisions, it's following Lorien's decision in the most optimal way, It is the equivalent of penmanship in writing

Feeling the improvement Lorien smiled happily as things went smoother than he initially expected but then he suddenly felt indecisive as he started questioning his previous plan

'I Know this is the Demon Slayer world so I should be able to find a breathing technique to improve my swordsmanship, but I have already planned to practice Martial arts...'

But then he quickly threw this idea out of his mind

'Haste makes waste, I should focus on filling all my shortcomings, hand to hand is one of them so Martial arts is the most optimal option for now, moreover, I am strong enough to protect myself I don't have to worry about being in danger...'

"Not to mention that those Breathing Techniques arent actually sword techniques..."

Shaking his head Lorien threw those thoughts aside as he knew that there was no gain from thinking about them for now, moreover it was just speculations anyway as he had never personally seen or practiced any of them

.

Now with his plan fixed and with him unable to make any improvements for now Lorien decided to go and relax for the day while also taking the opportunity to look for a teacher
