The sound of clock ticking and even every inch of Aunty's movement made Ji An nervousness to escalate. Every second passed by seemed like a torture for her. "I found it. Here, take a look." Aunty passed over the small suede black jewelry box to Ji An. There was no brand engraved on top of the box. Ji An carefully placed the small box on the table and started to open the box carefully. It was swiftly opened, without any cracking noise and lied there a silver colored bracelet with a lot of unique charms. It was made to specifically look similar with those expensive Pandora brand, a customized bracelet with charms. When Ji An lifted the small pillow in which the bracelet rested, she could see the receipt. It showed the shop location and contact number which Ji An immediately took a picture of. After trying to find additional clue from the box but couldn't find any, Ji An placed back the small pillow and started to look closely at the bracelet. The piece was more unique since the customization looked like especially made for Aunty. Every charm attached seemed like had a story by itself.
"Aunty, the charms are very cute. Do these have any personal meaning to you?"
"Ah, yes. When I saw this bracelet for the first time, I think our Min Young was very thoughtful. There is this small kimbap charm, which was her and mine favorite food. And there is also this Eiffel tower charm, which is our must visit places if we have chances to go overseas."
Hearing Aunty's explanation, Ji An could see how Min Young really loved her mother so much. Even though the bracelet might have different meaning into it, Ji An did not want to share her suspicion with Aunty yet. Not when she was ready and firm about whatever suspicion she had inside. Ji An took another picture of the bracelet and tried to look for a certain small key that might open the box but she couldn't find any. 'Was it hidden? Am I wrong?' Ji An started to doubt herself but she did not want to give up now. Not when her gut feelings kept telling her that she was very close.
"Aunty, can I borrow this bracelet a while? I want to made one for myself and my friends and these might be a good inspiration." Ji An was actually feeling bad when asking Aunty this question. She felt like she was taking away Aunty only memoir of Min Young and on top of that, she was outright lying to Aunty.
"Ji An-ah. I am sure you have your own reason for not telling me. Keep the bracelet for now and let me know if you need anything, okay? I am more than glad to help" Aunty sudden declaration made Ji An felt embarrassed and Ji An was more than grateful that Aunty could believe her so much.
"Thank you so much, Aunty. I will let you know when I had more confident. Please give me some time."
"En. Aunty believes in you. Now, why do we keep talking? It's getting late, do you want to stay over for the night?"
"No, Aunty. I couldn't trouble you. I need to go back as soon as possible. I have work early morning tomorrow." Ji An actually wanted to check to the address on the receipt as soon as possible, she quickly excused herself from Aunty's house and jumped to the first bus she saw.
While she was on board, she called the number printed on the receipt. After the initial first 10 rings, no one picked up. Ji An was getting more anxious and pressed redial button to call once again.
"Come on, pick up please." Just before the last ring failed to connect, the phone was answered with a low voice. A guy's voice.
"Hello."
"Hello! Is this jewelry customization shop?"
"Yes, who am I speaking with?"
"I am Song Ji An. I saw your customized bracelet for my friend and wanted to pop-up and asked a few question. Is that okay?"
"Yes, no problem. As long as you can reach before 7pm. Our shop is closed by that time and you will need to comeback tomorrow."
"Okay, I am on my way now. See you later." Glad that she managed to book an appointment, Ji An kept glancing at her wrist watch while the bus was slowly exiting the suburb and entering the noisy Seoul city once again. Lucky for her, the jewelry shop was not in the center of Seoul city. With such a short notice and long distance that she needed to go through, Ji An could make it just nice before 7pm.
On 6.30pm Ji An was in front of the jewelry shop with heart full of anticipation. She opened the door and a small bell was ringing to let the staff know that there was guest coming in. The jewelry shop was activating aromatherapy electronic diffuser which was sending out soft white cloud of fragrance. One of the staff on the counter immediately greeted Ji An with smile.
"Hello, welcome to our J customization jewelry shop. Anything that I can help you with?"
"Ah, hello. I was making a call earlier today to inquire about this bracelet." Ji An had readied her phone with the picture and showed it to the welcoming staff.
"This bracelet seemed coming from our shop. But I am not familiar with this product. Let me call the designer out. He was here today."
'He? Is it the guy on the phone?' Ji An thought to herself while patiently waiting for the designer.
"Ah, you are here finally." The young guy designer was coming out behind the curtain and had extended his greeting even before seeing Ji An.
When his eyes finally met Ji An, his warm eyes suddenly turned confused,"Who are you?"
