"Ji An, stay behind me." Song Ho pushed Ji An behind his back while he was scanning through the surrounding. The room was in a mess. Sofa pillow was lying on the floor with a few of the storage boxes left opened and all the contents poured outside. It was as if a localized tsunami attacked her house.
Song Ho made sure Ji An stayed behind while he was checking around the house. It was not only living room, but Ji An and Ha Na room was included inside the chaos.
"Ji An-ah, check your belongings. Anything missing?" Ji An nodded and quickly ran inside her room. She found nothing had gone missing.
"Oppa, everything is here."
"Did you lock your door?" Ji An's rooftop apartment was a bit old and both of them did not install the electric keypad lock. They were both still using the normal key, unlike every other households in Korea. Both Ji An and Ha Na joked before that it might be only two of them in Seoul still very persistent with this old fashioned way.
"Yes. I think so. I am just going out for a few minutes. How could they just come and ransack everything here? And how could they did not take anything?" Ji An scratched her head reflectively.
Even both of their TV and laptops were still sitting nicely at its place. Song Ho suddenly turned,"Ji An, the diary!"
"Here with me." Ji An took out the small diary from her pocket including the wooden box. Realization hit her,"Oppa, do you think what I am thinking?"
"En. I think so too. Let's get out from here now and call Ha Na." Song Ho immediately called the building owner to notify about the break in. The owner was a kind-hearted old lady who stayed on the first floor. When she heard about what happened towards those two young girls, she immediately made appointment to change their door into the electronic one without additional fee.
"I have told them a few times to change. Those two stubborn girls. Good thing the robbery happened. I feel like kissing and hugging them for finally kicking some senses inside those girls brain."
'Grandma, how could you hug and kiss the thieves? They are dangerous you know.' Song Ho could only shook his head listening to grandma's comments for both Ji An and Ha Na.
Song Ho quickly brought Ji An back to his house and while waiting for Ha Na, they started to review the diary.
"Ji An, let's start now. We have a lot of things to do." Ji An followed Song Ho Oppa to the dining room and pulled a chair. They both got their laptops on the table and discussing seriously for a few hours, before the door bell rang, indicating Ha Na's presence.
"Ha Na, just come inside." Song Ho opened the door from the button and intercom near the living room and came back to sit down beside Ji An.
"Hey, what are you two doing?"
"We are discussing Min Young's diary." Ji An replied with her head still on her laptop.
"Who is Min Young?"
"I haven't told you about it?" Ji An asked back and Ha Na rolled her eyes upward, taking seat beside Ji An. Ji An told Ha Na the summary about Min Young which was implicated further with the 'robbery' cases happened just now.
"Ji An, this is dangerous. I am worried about you." Ha Na was too stunned by drama revolving Ji An and worried sick about this friend of hers. When Ji An set her mind on something, she would not consider other thing and kept pushing forward. Which was actually a very good thing, if only danger was out of the picture. Ha Na sighed, knew how futile her effort to convince Ji An to stop. If she was in her shoes, she would also do the same for Min Young. Her life already pitiful enough without anyone trying to fight for her. And now she was no longer around, Ji An chose to fight for her. As her best friend, Ha Na should support her unconditionally but on the other side, she couldn't let Ji An be in danger.
"Oppa, help me. Talk some senses to Ji An." Ha Na knew only Song Ho able to help her for now. Ji An always looked to Song Ho for advise and listened to whatever he said.
"Ji An, for now I agree with Ha Na. You should back down. Let me help you investigate further." Song Ho was definitely taking Ha Na's side. Remembering how her house turned upside down could make his blood ran cold. What if Ji An was around and those thieves hurt her. He couldn't take the idea of Ji An being hurt, not again. He hurt Ji An before and made her lose her father. He couldn't let them lose her life also. It was enough.
"Oppa!" Ji An couldn't accept both Song Ho and Ha Na intervention. She was furious. "I am the one who helped Min Young. I held her hands and was the last person she saw. I was there for her. I couldn't back up now."
Song Ho wanted to say something but,"Oppa, no! I always listen to you but not today, not now. Min Young needs me. Aunty also needs me. Please, Oppa! Don't do this to me." She looked at Song Ho with her puppy pleading eyes. She knew Song Ho never rejected her when she behaved like that.
Song Ho was speechless. There she was again with her glistening puppy eyes, begging him. If he forced her to retreat now, she would take more outrageous action behind him and that would be out of his control and more dangerous. At least, he could control her assignment for now.
"Okay, I lost. You can do it, but you need to report every single thing to me without fail. Even when you are in danger, don't ever covering it for me. If you dare to lie to me, I will take you out from this assignment immediately."
"Oppa is the best!" Ji An was cheering while Ha Na was sulking behind her.
"Okay, now focus. Ji An, you try to look for this SK hospital. I am going to look more into their modus operandi. It seems they all hide behind entertainment circle so we need to find out about this. For now, you both sleep here today. I will sleep at the sofa."
"Yes, Oppa!" Both Ji An and Ha Na answered at the same time.
