"Dead? How could it be? Didn't I just tell him to be transferred to detention area?" Detective Jo could not really grasp the whole situation. Only a few minutes just passed by. He clearly looked perfectly fine when he left interrogation room and the police who brought him out was someone who worked directly under him. Under any circumstances, it was definitely not possible for anything to go amiss and for goodness sake, they were inside police station. How could it happened right under his jurisdiction?
"Bring me to him!"
"Yes, sir!" The junior police officer quickly showed the way. Together, they were following the junior police officer who was directing them towards toilet.
The usually empty toilet was now being sealed by the yellow tape. A few policemen came out and joined the crowd, to find out what was exactly happening inside their police station. Two normal built officer was now standing still, guarding the entrance towards man's toilet.
When both of them saw Detective Jo, they both saluted him before going back to their usual position. With his authority as senior detective, Detective Jo stared at the junior police officer, to whom he asked to bring Kim Su Ho back to his detention area"Give me updates."
"Sir. I was bringing him back as per instruction when he suddenly said, he needed to go to the toilet and I was waiting right outside the toilet. After some time and he was not getting out, I followed him inside the toilet and saw him already lying on the floor with blood gushing out from his body. I immediately went over to check his vital but he's gone."
Detective Jo walked directly to the crime scene, giving special permission for Ahn Song Ho to follow him. His underling had done a great job in securing the crime scene. Immediately after he found out about the murder, he instructed another police officer to call him and he sealed the toilet immediately. He also called for the forensic department to come and join and inside the toilet already a few people walking around the scene, taking pictures as well as getting evidence to be checked.
"What is the cause of death?" Detective Jo was asking the pale looking girl from forensic team beside the body.
"It's a professional job. You see here, the bullet went straight to his heart. Very clean. He was gone within seconds," replied her with emotionless face. As part of forensic team, she was used to gore scene. And she had seen much worse that a gunshot wound.
"Seo Hyeon!" Detective Jo called his underling in charge of Kim Su Ho.
"Yes, Sir."
"Did you hear or notice anything?"
"There was almost no noise coming from the toilet. So, I was thinking the perpetrator might use silencer."
"Good thinking. Continue. Anyone coming inside and outside the toilet?"
"There is no one coming in and out."
"Weird. How could the culprit run away from this place?" Detective Jo was looking around the scene, when he noticed there was a window, enough for an adult to sneak in.
"Hey, you." He waved towards the same pale looking girl again from forensic team.
"Yes?"
"Have you checked this window?" His hand was now pointing towards the window sill.
"Not yet. I am checking now."
"Check for any fingerprints, or blood trace or anything. Ahn Song Ho, you are coming with me. Let us check our building CCTV." Knowing there was nothing else he could do until the forensic team left, Detective Jo left the scene.
Both of them went straight to the CCTV footage area. Inside, everyone seemed to understand that Detective Jo was looking for them. They had prepared everything. Even when Detective Jo just opened the door, the leader walked over and pat his shoulder.
"We can't let the culprit to ruin our reputation. Come and sit here. We have prepared in advance for today's CCTV."
It was indeed the loyalty and pride for every police officer, they would not let anyone or anything destroyed what they had built together. All of them would work together to catch the culprit.
Amazed and touched by his teammates loyalty, Detective Jo swore he would really fight and catch whoever behind all these horrid incidents. He couldn't believe there was no single trail at all. A few hours he asked Song Ho assistance to help him look at different records from different angle.
Finally after brawling their eyes out, they noticed something. Ahn Song Ho was the one who made the connection.
"Detective Jo, I might find something."
"What is it?" In front of both of them already laid a few empty cups of coffee. His eyes were very tired after intensely looking at the screen for a long period of time.
Clicking a few button, Song Ho started explaining,"See here. There was a guy coming inside police station with a black cap. Then after he was inside, within the same time frame, you would not find this guy again anywhere else. So, after a few attempts, I found the same guy had changed his cloth as a police officer and went inside the scene. There was a record of him going in but there was no record of him going out from the toilet. It must be him."
"Makes sense. Can we enlarge his picture? I am going to show this to Song Ji An-ssi, to just prove my theory."
"To Ji An? Why?"
"Don't you remember? She mentioned today that there was someone called Detective An came and took her witness statement. And I told you, we have no one with surname An under our department."
"Yeah, right. Let's go! I have got something to tell all of you also. It would be good if we can just go straight to Jun's house."
Song Ho took out his phone call and called Jun,"Hello, Lee Jun. Are you at home with Ji An?"
"Ha Na is there also? Okay, me and Detective Jo are coming over."
