Ethan still looked unhappy. "I just want to defend my mother."

Kylie understood it. She would do everything to protect her own mother as well.

"Ethan." Kylie's voice was very tender. "No matter how you're going to pay Adolph back, he deserves it."

"As for Agnes, I don't know whether she's the mastermind, but I do know she's a key factor in it, but..."

Ethan raised his hand to smooth her hair with a pair of growingly cold eyes. He already knew what Kylie was going to say because he can read her mind. However, Kylie lowered her head and didn't notice Ethan's breath became heavier now. "Stephen is innocent.

He didn't join it, nor know anything about it... "Ouch!"

Ethan's fingers pulled her hair a little. She didn't look at him until now.

Kylie got nervous. She hadn't seen Ethan being so cold for a long time. "Ethan..."

"Go on." Ethan's face remained expressionless. "Tell me whatever you want to tell aloud."

"I..." Kylie opened her mouth but didn't know how to continue.

"Stephen probably wasn't filled in. Probably he liked Dinah before, so he married her. Probably he really gave you up at a certain moment and became your private doctor. Probably...you've liked him."

Ethan finished his sentences within a breath. Kylie, instead, was struck dumb.

His heart was pounding fast.

He never liked Stephen being so close to Kylie, but he tolerated it because he loved Kylie. Now, he had enough.

"Ethan, it's not what you think." Kylie wanted to explain it, but Ethan sat up at once. He moved Kylie off his body and said coldly, "Have some sleep. I need to deal with some documents."

After that, he left the room without stopping for a second.

Kylie felt like crying and stayed awake on the bed. Once she heard footsteps from the passage, she would sit up, staring at the door.

Ethan was absent the whole night.

The door of their bedroom wasn't lightly pushed open until daybreak.

Ethan stood at the door, looking at the girl who felt unsafe curling up on the bed.

He squinted, then stepped backward.

Pupu was shaking its tail beside him.

"Go, keep her company. She needed you now, I need to deal with something," Ethan lowered his body and rubbed Pupu's furry neck.

The door was pushed open a small gap, and Pupu squeezed itself inside through it.

The second Ethan closed the door, his eyes became cold.

Stephen, I've given you many chances, but you still want to dig your own grave! I will not let you pass this time! You've done so many failures, and I am a fool trusting you like my own brother!

Ethan transformed himself into his original form and quickly disappeared in a split second.

"Pupu?" Kylie opened her eyes. She raised a smile. "How did you get in here?"

Pupu shook its tail. When it approached to lick her face, Kylie pushed it away.

After breakfast, Ethan was still absent. Kylie felt sad and looked upset when she went to work in the set.

Kate smiled and patted her shoulder. "You really devote yourself to the role. Your husband just cheated on you, and you're in a bad mood now."

Kylie put on a wry smile. "Ms. Green, is there no Ben's part today? I didn't see him."

"He'll join us again tomorrow. What? Are you missing your son?" Kate asked.

"Kinda." Kylie smiled.

In the following scenes, Kylie didn't play well. She often forgot her lines or said the wrong words. The director told her to relax for a while, then began to shoot James and Elizabeth's part.

Fannie covered Kylie with a thick coat. "Did you have an argument with Ethan?" she asked with concern.

"Isn't it obvious enough?" Kylie said.

"No way! You really argued with Ethan?" Fannie was surprised. "Tell me more details."

Kylie sighed. When she was about to say something, her phone made a sound. Fannie took it from the pocket. "A new message for you from Twitter."

Kylie thought it was sent by Ethan, so she caught the phone in a hurry, but it turned out Ben was the sender.

Ben: Mom, what are you doing now?

Kylie: Shooting in the set. And you?

Ben: Didn't you agree to dine with us last time?" Reading the message,

Kylie thought for a while. She wasn't in the mood to shoot after all. Why couldn't she have a day off?

Kylie: Sure, where?

Ten seconds later, Ben sent her his location. He was in the most luxurious hotel in Seattle right now.

"Are you sure you're going there?" Fannie was a little worried. "I can call Nate if you want, and he can wait for you nearby."

Kylie stopped Fannie at once. "I'm just going to dine with a kid. It's fine."

She and Ethan were in a stalemate now. If Nate learned it, Ethan soon would know it too.

Kylie thought it was better for her to avoid trouble.

"Why don't you have a day off as well? You can go back home to meet Nate," Kylie said, then went to ask the director for a leave.

The executive director was very satisfied with Kylie's previous performance, so he agreed with enthusiasm.

Fannie then drove Kylie to the hotel before she left.

Kylie called Ben after she entered the hotel. Three minutes later, Ben ran out of an elevator. "Mom!"

"Hi, my little boy, do you miss me?" Kylie squatted and hugged Ben.

"Yeah." Ben kissed Kylie's cheek, then beamed. "Let's go. I'll introduce my father to you."

"Your father is here too?" Kylie followed him, walking into the elevator.

"Yes, he comes here to settle a deal." Ben held Kylie's hand all the time. "Mom, did you win the game last time? When will it be aired on the TV?"

"I did, and you can watch the show this Saturday." Kylie held Ben's hand, dreaming that she would hold her own kids' hands one day in the future.

It must be a beautiful scene. She thought to herself.

The waiter who stood by the door of the private room pushed the door open for them.

The moment Ben walked inside, he introduced Kylie in a loud voice without caring that there were other guests in the room.

"My mom is here!"
