When Ethan went back with a bucket of popcorn, he found Kylie was missing.
He got anxious at once, then heard Kylie's voice.
"Kylie!" Ethan called her.
Kylie went downstairs and said, "Ethan, come here now! I just saw Stephen."
Kylie glanced around and found Stephen was already at the door. He stopped and waved his hand at Kylie.
"Hey, don't..." Kylie lost control of herself and moved a step forward all of a sudden.
She paid all her attention to Stephen and didn't notice there was another step under her feet.
Without stepping on it, Kylie directly fell down on the ground.
"Kylie!" Ethan dashed to her side quickly.
Kylie was struck dumb for a second. Her tight belly suddenly twitched, followed by a flow of liquid.
"Ethan, I'm fine. Go see whether Stephen is gone or not." She tolerated the pain and pushed Ethan away.
Ethan was nervous. Even though Kylie didn't tell him, he could feel her belly got tight when he lifted her up.
"Let's go to the hospital!" Ethan insisted on carrying her up in his arms.
"I'm fine. Don't let him escape again." Kylie swallowed hard. "He walked slowly. It seems he deliberately attracts me out."
Ethan didn't know what to do but could only call his chauffeur to drive his car to the door, and he ran towards it himself at the same time.
However, there was no one at the door. Stephen was nowhere to be seen either.
When he got back to Kylie's side, he found Kylie's pants were already wet. Her water broke!
"Kylie, you can't stay here like this. We must go to the hospital right now!" Ethan carried Kylie up in his arms at once.
Because Kylie was carrying twins, the hospital was already prepared for an early birth a long time ago, but they didn't expect it would come so soon.
Once the nurse received Ethan's call, she went to wait for them with a surgery bed at the door of the hospital. The moment Ethan's car showed up, she helped Kylie get on the bed.
Kylie was pushed into the delivery room, but Ethan felt like a cat on hot bricks now. His chauffeur was the only person who could stay calm here, and he called Barbara without delay.
Barbara and Adolph arrived at the hospital within half an hour with prepared clothes and a blanket for the babies.
"Ethan, relax, it's very normal," Barbara said to comfort Ethan.
Several nurses ran over with tools for the operation at this moment. Ethan stopped one of them and asked urgently, "How is my wife?"
"Don't worry, the doctor will be here in a second," the nurse said, then entered the operating room.
Kylie couldn't think clearly now in the great pain and squeezed the guardrails at the sides of the bed. "Doctor, how are my babies?"
"Relax, they're good," a nurse said to her after checking the condition of her babies.
Another round of great pain attacked her the next second, and she shouted, "Oh my, it's so painful!"
Hearing that, Ethan almost knocked on the door open. Luckily, Nate came on time and stopped him along with Adolph.
"Let me go!" Ethan said.
"I won't!" Nate said. "Delivery is painful. Everybody knows that. It's useless even if you're in the room."
Ethan struggled for a while, then gave up. He shouted to Kylie with the door in the middle. "Kylie, stop it there. You can stop if it's too painful."
He didn't have the heart to let Kylie suffer the torture.
Kylie indeed was in great torture now and could only vent her anger at Ethan.
"Ethan, it's all your fault!" Why didn't he think about the day of delivery when he enjoyed the sex with her?
He was the one who enjoyed the whole process, but she had to suffer the pain at the end!
"Yeah, it's all my fault. We can give it up now!" Ethan shouted outside.
"It's not up to you to give it up right now." A man in a blue operation gown showed up by Ethan's side.
The two men were of the same height but had totally different airs.
The doctor pushed the glasses on his nose and said with a calm face, "I understand you must be anxious and nervous, but you should encourage your wife, instead of telling her to give it up."
After that, the doctor pushed the door of the delivery room open and walked inside.
Nate was struck dumb. It was the first time that he had seen someone dared criticize Ethan.
Ethan was also surprised but soon thought the doctor was right.
The doctor walked to the delivery bed, and a nurse handed him a pair of disposable medical gloves. "The fetal heartbeat and blood pressure are normal. Her cervix is already 5 cm dilated."
The doctor put on the gloves and checked the medical equipment by the bed. "Don't worry, you'll see your babies soon."
Kylie was out of strength now. "I-I'm fine. I-I can stand it."
"Great," the doctor said.
Kylie had a mouthful of water, and the uterine contraction began again within a minute.
The temporary uterine contraction only caused Kylie endless pain. She squeezed the bed rails with great force and clenched her teeth to tolerate the agony.
When the pain finally passed, Kylie was sweating. "Please, I think I need to use the washroom now."
A nurse checked her cervix, then said to Kylie with a smile, "Don't worry, you just have a feeling of pressure because the babies are moving out. You're about to give birth."
Knowing that, Kylie thought it was worthwhile to suffer the pain if she could see her babies soon.
She raised a smile and breathed hard according to the nurse's guidance.
They thought the babies would soon come out after the cervix was fully dilated, but there was no hint of that even though Kylie had suffered the pain for a total of three hours.
Ethan lost patience outside the room.
The doctor was also worried. He wiped the sweat off Kylie's face and asked, "Do you need me to call your husband inside?"
"No..." Kylie said, clenching her teeth.
If Ethan saw her being like this, he might lose control of his emotions. In that case, he would be the one who needed comfort, instead of her.
However, Kylie felt helpless after the pain got stronger and stronger. She even thought it would be a shame if she couldn't see Ethan the last time when she was about to die on this delivery bed.
