Housekeeping Aunt Zhang started cleaning, and soon the house was spotless. She came over to find An Wuyang, still wearing her apron: “An Wuyang, I’ve finished cleaning. Now I’m going to buy groceries to cook. Do you have any specific food preferences? Just let me know, and I’ll remember them.”

“Alright.” An Wuyang was busy hanging up clothes and thought for a moment. “I like shrimp, baby octopus, tomatoes, mashed potatoes, and I don’t like chives, soybean sprouts, or yellow eel fish… That’s it.”

Aunt Zhang smiled and said, “Great, I’ll make you a plate of boiled jumbo shrimp for lunch. There’s over a pound of them. I’ll also prepare tomato scrambled eggs and a bowl of seaweed beef soup. It’s going to be very nutritious.”

The two dishes and soup were beautifully arranged on the table.

“Smells so good.” An Wuyang took out her phone, opened the camera, and took a photo of the table. She sent it to Mr. Huo, who was working: “Aunt Zhang and I are starting to eat. How about you?”

Away from An Wuyang’s sight, Huo Yunchuan wasn’t as soft and easy to get along with.

He was in a meeting with the company’s top management in the conference room, which had started at 10:40 in the morning and was still ongoing at noon. There was no sign of a lunch break.

It was a complex process to delegate authority and plan for future work-from-home arrangements. It was not as simple in practice as it sounded.

At this moment, Huo Yunchuan was hesitant. While An Wuyang and the child were undoubtedly important, he couldn’t just abandon his company. It seemed more rational for him to come to the office and work for half a day each day.

However, when he opened An Wuyang’s message and saw the table full of food that their little angel was about to eat—vibrant and colorful, it brought a smile to his lips and a sense of happiness he couldn’t explain.

Combined with the genuinely caring message, Huo Yunchuan’s first thought was, ‘Why am I even having this meeting? Is the food not delicious, or is the soup not tasty?’ His second thought was, ‘Forget this desk job, why am I having these thoughts?’

“Alright, the meeting is adjourned.” The tall, stern man stood up, abruptly ending the meeting.

The company’s top executives were left bewildered, especially one executive who had been speaking when the meeting was cut short. He began to worry about his future.

Huo Yunchuan swiftly left the conference room, and as he passed by employees in the hallway, they nodded respectfully in response to his presence.

Back in his office, Mr. Huo immediately picked up his phone and called his little angel at home.

Once the call was connected, there was silence, with only the faint sounds of rustling. The hands-free mode was clearly on.

“An Wuyang?” Huo Yunchuan furrowed his brows. What was this guy doing? “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

An Wuyang, swallowing a sweet jumbo shrimp, continued to peel others. “Mr. Huo, I’m eating jumbo shrimp right now. Have you eaten?”

“… ” Huo Yunchuan, who had been starving during the meeting, had a lump in his throat and an overwhelming desire to rush home and peel shrimp for his little angel, feeding him one by one until he was full, just like at the club.

He loosened his collar and casually asked, “Didn’t you say you’d call me by my name? Why are you calling me Mr. Huo again?”

With a mouthful of food, the teenager, still munching, replied with a smile, “You told me to call you whatever I like when I’m happy. Right now, I feel like calling you Mr. Huo.”

It was merely a habit, and it was hard to change overnight.

“Hmm.” Mr. Huo let out a fake smile and secretly rubbed his heart-shaped charm: “Go ahead, eat as much as you want. I haven’t had my meal yet.”

From the moment he made this call, Huo Yunchuan felt it was a complete waste of his time, and it had ruined his grand shrimp-peeling endeavor. Upon hearing An Wuyang’s words, he immediately lowered his head and replied, “Well, go ahead and eat. I’ll eat as well. Goodbye.”

And that’s how he got hung up on the phone. It was perfectly fine, he didn’t feel the slightest bit annoyed. Instead, he ventured further into his M-side.

During the time when the food was being delivered, Huo Yunchuan repeatedly looked at the cheerful picture of the meal in his phone. The mundane image had suddenly pierced his heart. At thirty years old, the words “human fireworks” were stuck in his throat. It wasn’t because of anything else; it was the moment his mind cleared, making him realize that he was just an ordinary person among ordinary folks.

Setting aside his accomplishments, his aura, and his pride, he quietly yearned for some ordinary roles, like being a dad, a husband…

“An Wuyang, Aunt Zhang has cleaned up the dishes. Would you like to take a nap?” Aunt Zhang kindly suggested when she found the child in the living room watching TV with half-closed eyes. “Come, Aunt Zhang will help you to your room for a nap. Then, I’ll go home for a while, and I’ll come back in the afternoon to make lunch. When Mr. Huo comes back, the meal will be ready.”

“By the way, there’s a pot of soup simmering in the kitchen. You don’t have to go to the kitchen if you’re feeling fine.”

As An Wuyang drifted off to sleep, these sounds faded, becoming part of his dream.

The slender young man curled up in Huo Yunchuan’s bed, and his every breath was filled with Huo Yunchuan’s scent, perhaps that’s why he slept so soundly.

Huo Yunchuan, under the scorching sun, returned home around 4 o’clock. He carried fresh fruits he had just bought from the fruit shop in his hands and dropped them on the table as he entered. He couldn’t resist taking a peek into his own bedroom.

He had intended to take just a quick look, but he ended up gazing at an unfamiliar scene with nostalgia.

He cleared his throat. “Ahem.”

He then walked into the bathroom, took a refreshing shower, and changed into short-sleeved home clothes. Afterward, he returned to the bedroom.

An Wuyang’s face was half-buried in the soft pillow, while the other half displayed delicate features: a straight, upturned nose, long eyelashes, soft lips slightly parted, and a chest rising and falling rhythmically with each breath.

Huo Yunchuan couldn’t resist approaching, coming closer and feeling the boy’s quiet and steady breathing, along with that fresh scent that had seduced him the first time they met.

He took a deep breath, feeling comfortable and content.

“Huo Yunchuan…” An Wuyang murmured, assuming he was still in a dream. He blinked his eyes drowsily, then rubbed the pillow and fell back asleep.

“Hey?” Huo Yunchuan called out, kneeling beside the bed. He noticed that An Wuyang was sound asleep, so he acted boldly and lightly nibbled the boy’s adorable earlobe.

By the time An Wuyang woke up, the room was empty, with only himself present.

However, the aroma of Old Fire Soup permeated the air, the faint voices of Huo Yunchuan and Aunt Zhang conversing seeped through, and there was also the rumbling sound from his own stomach.

Walking in cotton slippers on the floor of the house was almost soundless, and An Wuyang wasn’t the kind of lively boy who walked with a spring in his step, so he moved silently.

Huo Yunchuan and Aunt Zhang were engrossed in conversation when they suddenly saw a disheveled figure standing sleepily behind them. This sight startled them so much that Huo Yunchuan dropped the melon he was holding.

“Uh… Hi…” An Wuyang crouched down to help pick up the melon and handed it back to Huo Yunchuan. “Did you just get back?” It was the first time he had seen Huo Yunchuan in casual home attire, and he couldn’t help but take a few glances. “You look handsome even in this.” The honest young man couldn’t help but speak his mind without holding back.

Aunt Zhang, who was cutting vegetables with her back to them, laughed so hard her shoulders shook. She had taken an instant liking to this child.

During lunch, An Wuyang continuously praised the delicious dishes Aunt Zhang prepared, and his words were genuinely sweet.

“Awake now? Here’s some soup,” Huo Yunchuan couldn’t resist the compliments. He needed something to do, like opening the dish sterilization cabinet, taking an unscalding soup bowl, and bringing it over.

If Huo Yunchuan’s mother saw this scene, it might make her somewhat melancholy. After all, she had raised this son diligently for thirty years, and since he was a child, he had been a pampered and standard young master. He wouldn’t even help if a bottle of oil was knocked over, and in fact, Huo Yunchuan wouldn’t have had the chance to encounter such things as oil bottles.

He lived the life of a young master from a wealthy family. Although the reality wasn’t exactly “clothes come at a touch and food at a call,” it was close enough.

“Be careful; it’s still hot,” Huo Yunchuan used his left hand to support the bowl, and with his right hand, he stirred the soup, preparing to feed the boy beside him, who had just woken up.

“Here, Mr. Huo bought these fruits. I’ve already washed them for you. After you finish the soup, you can have some to refresh your palate,” Aunt Zhang said, bringing a translucent salad bowl filled with red and green cut fruits.

“Thank you, Aunt Zhang,” An Wuyang stared at the bowl of soup, leaning against the chair’s backrest. “What kind of soup is this? I think it has a somewhat fishy smell.”

“It’s pigeon soup, and it’s good for your health,” Huo Yunchuan blew on a spoonful, bringing it close to An Wuyang’s lips. “Open your mouth; Aunt Zhang spent so much effort boiling it for hours. Have a little.”

When it was right under his nose, the scent was indeed fishy, and An Wuyang didn’t want to take a sip and end up feeling queasy. However, he thought of Aunt Zhang’s hard work and Huo Yunchuan’s care. He held his nose, opened his mouth, and took a sip.

He made a face, and his complexion turned green.

Aunt Zhang said with concern, “I was afraid to put too many ginger strips. Next time, I’ll add more.” She could see that this child was suffering, probably due to pregnancy symptoms, and drinking too much might make him vomit.

Half a bowl was An Wuyang’s limit, and he flatly refused to drink more. “I’ll have some fruit to cleanse my palate,” he picked a green kiwi, sour and sweet, just the way he liked it since he became pregnant.

Huo Yunchuan put the bowl down, not daring to force An Wuyang to drink more. “We’ll drink more later,” little and frequent meals.

An annoyed gaze followed him as Huo Yunchuan suddenly felt a throbbing pain somewhere. It was a painful throb.

“…” Huo Yunchuan felt a sting in a particular area, growing and hurting. Damn it. “Stay put; I’m going to wash the dishes,” he stood up and quickly retreated from the range of that fierce glare.

“Huo, I’ll do it,” Aunt Zhang didn’t see any need for the master of the house to wash dishes himself, so she cheerfully took over, feeling a sense of relief.

As people grow older, their hearts tend to become softer, and they can’t stand to see people suffer.

She had heard that Mr. Huo was a millionaire. Who knows, maybe he just wanted to have a child with this young man. In that case, what’s done willingly shouldn’t cause any suffering.

The problem was that the young man he had taken care of all day was quite grounded.

No matter how you looked at it, he didn’t seem like someone trying to strike it rich by having a baby.

Fortunately, when Aunt Zhang saw Huo Yunchuan feeding the boy soup just now, her worries dissipated. Huo Yunchuan didn’t seem to be pampering a child; he was pampering his own child.

An, his own child, had a good sense of propriety. Feeling the slightly fishy and salty taste had been washed down by the fruit, he stopped reaching for the bowl.

Huo Yunchuan sat beside him, quietly watching An Wuyang, and An Wuyang also gazed silently at him.

“What did you do today?” he asked.

An Wuyang answered honestly, “Ate and slept.”

But Huo Yunchuan unexpectedly blurted out, “Are you a pig?”

An almond-shaped eye shot him a glare, and then he grabbed the remote control on the table and turned to watch TV.

Huo Yunchuan didn’t say anything but watched An Wuyang change the channel on the TV.

Was it the movie channel, the anime channel, or perhaps the music channel that young people loved so much…?

But it turned out to be none of those. An Wuyang was watching Korean idol dramas.

“…” Huo Yunchuan was utterly bewildered. Well, this was more of a generation gap than watching anime. In fact, it was more like a generation chasm.
