Like this, quietly, An Wuyang returned to Mr. Huo’s embrace and had a somewhat dazed nap until eight o’clock.

An Wuyang got up, first checking if he had disturbed anyone.

“Mr. Huo can really sleep…” he muttered softly. Mr. Huo probably went to bed around ten last night and hadn’t woken up once until eight this morning.

Listening to his mumbling, Huo Yunchuan seemed to get out of bed, put on slippers, and left the bedroom.

Huo Yunchuan, the president who hadn’t slept since six o’clock, opened his clear eyes and sat up from the bed.

These days, due to An Wuyang being by his side, he changed the habit of starting the day with a cigarette. So, previously, he used to wake up, smoke a cigarette, then slowly change clothes, wash up, and do morning exercises. This single man’s lifestyle had continued for N years.

Huo Yunchuan was quite satisfied with it, seeing no need for any changes. This was also why he resisted marriage and having children.

“Mr. Huo, good morning.” An Wuyang was brushing his teeth and, upon suddenly seeing an extra person in the mirror, spat out the foam and greeted him.

Huo Yunchuan nodded. “Morning,” he said, then took his toothbrush and squeezed out toothpaste.

After An Wuyang greeted him, he returned to brushing his teeth.

He brushed for a full five minutes, thoroughly covering every part—left, right, up, down, inside, outside.

After brushing his teeth, he combed his hair in front of the mirror and immediately noticed that his hair was a bit messy. Probably, he hadn’t washed it last night.

“No…,” An Wuyang said, “Did I take a shower last night?” He paused, unable to remember.

Huo Yunchuan spat out the water in his mouth, looked serious, and with a smiling expression in his eyes, replied, “No, you fell asleep suddenly.”

So, in the hot weather, he actually went to bed without taking a shower. “No way, if it happens again next time, just wake me up,” An Wuyang said, showing a disgusted expression at himself.

“You’re overthinking it; I don’t mind,” Huo Yunchuan said simply. After tidying up his personal hygiene, he left the bathroom for An Wuyang to take a bath. “Be careful, I’ll go out and get you some hot breakfast.”

Yesterday, Aunt Zhang left a pot of white rice porridge and some stir-fried dishes. Just a quick warm-up in the microwave, and they would be ready to eat.

Before asking Aunt Zhang to cook, Huo Yunchuan’s kitchen was mostly for show, as he generally didn’t cook. It wasn’t a matter of believing in the saying ‘a gentleman stays far from the kitchen’; it was simply that, being a single man, he didn’t find the need to cook, coupled with a lack of interest.

With a few simple button presses, he took the food from the refrigerator, put it in the microwave to heat up, and that was it.

By the time the food was heated, An Wuyang had finished his bath.

He wasn’t aware that breakfast was prepared by Aunt Zhang. Seeing the steaming white porridge and side dishes, he was amazed.

“You’re really amazing,” he said as he sat down.

“It was made by Aunt Zhang,” Huo Yunchuan said, not taking credit. He handed over the food and neatly arranged the side dishes, exuding a very manly aura in his movements.

“Thank you,” An Wuyang said, smiling.

The white and sticky porridge looked delicious just by appearance. In reality, it melted in the mouth, with a hint of milky fragrance, making it delicious with the side dishes.

An Wuyang ate two big bowls, which was his usual amount. Suddenly remembering yesterday’s check-up report mentioning a slight nutritional deficiency, even though it was normal to have such issues during adolescence, he still felt uncomfortable. So, he decided to eat an extra bowl.

“Are you this hungry?” Huo Yunchuan, having been with An Wuyang for a few days, had a good understanding of his eating habits. “Eat less but more frequently, avoid overeating.”

An Wuyang thought about it. Later, when Aunt Zhang came, there would be stewed soup to drink.

“What school did you get into?” Huo Yunchuan asked.

“The Business School,” An Wuyang confirmed. It was the best school he could get into with his college entrance exam scores, and he was quite happy about it, even though it was a second-tier school, and the major wasn’t that popular.

When choosing the major back then, both Dad and Mom helped me go through the options, and their answer was that all three were quite mediocre. So, I let An Wuyang choose based on his interest later on since it didn’t really matter.

Huo Yunchuan nodded. After cleaning up the table, he called Chen Chu, “Old Chen, do you know anyone from the Business School?”

Chen Chu, with a background in law and having graduated from a top-notch school in the capital, had nothing to do with the Business School. However, his extensive connections in the education field made him the right person to approach for information about schools.

“Business School?” Chen Chu was momentarily surprised and then asked, “An Wuyang is studying at the Business School?” It wasn’t a prestigious school in the capital, and the scores were indeed quite ordinary. “I don’t know anyone directly, but I know someone who might. I’ll ask for you.”

Since he understood what was going on, he called a friend directly, getting straight to the point. After sorting everything out, he called Huo Yunchuan back, “Yunchuan, I’ve asked around for you. Here’s a contact. You can reach out to him directly when needed.”

“Great, thank you. You’re reliable, not causing any trouble,” Huo Yunchuan said appreciatively.

“What happened?” Chen Chu, hearing this, laughed outright, “Did that old Ji guy cause you trouble again?”

“Yeah, he took Wuyang to play games without informing me. I ended up searching for people everywhere and even intruded into someone else’s place,” Huo Yunchuan revealed.

“That guy,” Chen Chu, based on experience, said, “So, you definitely beat him up.”

Huo Yunchuan replied, “And what if I did?”

Chen Chu laughed again and then asked, “How’s Wuyang? Is he eating well and sleeping well?” He was genuinely concerned since, at that age, the physique didn’t seem robust.

Huo Yunchuan, whose gaze hadn’t left An Wuyang, nodded, “He’s doing okay. Sleep quality and appetite are fine.”

Chen Chu smiled, “That’s good.”

After hanging up, Huo Yunchuan turned his head and glanced at An Wuyang, who was drinking milk from a mug bathed in sunlight. Sitting in the sunny spot, with the light reflecting on his face, he had a halo-like glow, creating a somewhat surreal feeling.

“I’m going to your school today,” Huo Yunchuan said, “So, stay at home in the morning. Is that okay?”

An Wuyang was momentarily stunned, then set down his cup and asked, “No problem. Are you going to handle the withdrawal procedures? Do I need to be there in person?” It was different from what he had imagined.

“Yeah, it’s a minor matter. No need for you to be there,” Huo Yunchuan nodded.

After a brief explanation, he was once again busy with phone calls.

Not only did he contact people from the Business School, but he also had to handle company matters.

As the owner of a large group, he had delegated authority as much as possible to the people below him, but he still couldn’t avoid receiving many phone calls.

It was the first time An Wuyang was so close to the professional life of a successful person. He felt that Huo Yunchuan was really amazing. Every word he uttered was familiar, but when combined, it became confusing.

Receiving phone reports from subordinates every day felt like scenes from a movie.

Huo Yunchuan was currently on the phone with Gao Yan, who had arranged a meeting according to the plan. Considering that he had to go out today, he said, “Let’s delay the time a bit. I’ll try to make a quick visit.”

After completing An Wuyang’s withdrawal procedures, he would then go to Huarui for the meeting.

Huo Yunchuan quickly finalized his schedule and then noticed that the little angel’s milk hadn’t been finished. “The milk is cold; let me get you a fresh cup.”

Ignoring An Wuyang’s protests, Huo Yunchuan moved swiftly to replace his cup with a warm one.

“Are you going out?” An Wuyang asked. If he hadn’t misheard earlier, Mr. Huo was going for a meeting after completing the withdrawal procedures.

“Yeah,” Huo Yunchuan knew that An Wuyang was reluctant to part, especially since he had been so clingy behind his back. Perhaps, he just didn’t want to show it openly. “It’s not that I don’t want to take you with me, but you need to understand that resting is better for you right now.”

Following him around might let An Wuyang see him all the time, but it was risky.

“…” An Wuyang bit his lip and remained silent.

“I’ll leave after Mrs. Zhang arrives,” Huo Yunchuan looked at him with deep eyes and even reached out to pat his hand.

An Wuyang sipped his milk listlessly and nodded to indicate understanding.

Perhaps, he had gotten used to Mr. Huo always being with him, seeing him all the time no matter what they did. Suddenly, the idea of that person going out alone made him want to follow.

Huo Yunchuan sighed softly because An Wuyang’s expression was like an invisible hand squeezing his heart.

“I’ll be back soon,” he whispered.

Before, when An Wuyang showed disdain, he felt uncomfortable. Now, as An Wuyang became more and more attached every day, he still felt uncomfortable.

“You can go,” An Wuyang said, supporting his head.

At nine o’clock, Mrs. Zhang arrived home, bringing a variety of fresh vegetables, meat, and large bones.

An Wuyang needed calcium, so she prepared to simmer bone soup for him.

Tomorrow, she planned to change it up and make a nutritious fish soup to ensure he stayed healthy.

Huo Yunchuan was neatly dressed, his eyes glancing at the teenager sitting on the bed. “I’m heading out,” he said. Even changing clothes required his company, and Huo Yunchuan was amazed.

“Okay, be careful on the way,” An Wuyang looked at him, a smile on his face.

Huo Yunchuan stared at this small and rare smile for a long time. Finally, he moved away from the bedroom. To his surprise, a little follower tagged along. It caused his abdominal muscles to twitch a few times, enduring until he stopped at the entrance.

An Wuyang also stopped, looking at Huo Yunchuan in confusion. However, after a few seconds, he reactivated and opened the door. “I’m leaving,” he said, and then he left.

“…”

—Mr. Huo, TAT.

Huo Yunchuan, who received a message in the elevator, almost didn’t hold his phone steady.

—What’s wrong?

—Next time you go out, can you hug me? It’s better that way.

Huo Yunchuan stared at the message as if struck by lightning and replied with ellipses.

—…

Feeling extremely uncomfortable, the thought of going back now to fulfill the hugging request didn’t align with practicality.

—What does ellipses mean?

An Wuyang asked.

—It means I know.

Abandoning the idea, Mr. Huo finished replying to the message, regretting being too restrained and kind just now!

—Drink more water at home, be careful not to catch a chill during your afternoon nap.

—I’ll be back soon.

Receiving a series of messages from Mr. Huo one after another unexpectedly calmed An Wuyang’s mood.

—Okay.

After getting used to having only himself and Mrs. Zhang, he proceeded with whatever needed to be done.

Previously, on the business battlefield, Huo Yunchuan left an impression of being decisive and ruthless.

Both business partners and ordinary friends found him difficult to get along with.

To be fair, he was indeed hard to get along with.

Ending his virginity at the age of thirty was not without reason. For example, handling everything with money instead of sentiment.

Subtlety and tactfulness were not his style; being direct and straightforward was his daily approach.

After completing the suspension procedures at the Business School, he headed straight to Huarui.

Without much preparation, when he arrived, he had a brief chat with Gao Yan. Even Gao Yan noticed that it seemed like his cousin wasn’t as attentive as when he contacted him initially.

Perhaps, more accurately, it was as if other more pressing matters had occupied his attention…

“Don’t call for a meeting. I’ll patrol first.” Huo Yunchuan’s work style had always been like this. Gao Yan had received orders before and didn’t dare to inform the company’s people in advance. Today, the boss was coming.

Huo Yunchuan’s pace was neither slow nor fast as he walked through the work area, seemingly strolling around.

Because of his outstanding face and a figure that didn’t match the people around him, it was as if a big shot had suddenly come to visit, leading to quite a few people sneaking glances at him.

Most of them were female staff; male employees, like An Cheng, often took a quick look and then looked away.

For example, An Cheng, a man in his forties who now only focused on making money to support his family, had no intention of envying the limelight of the young man. He took a quick look but didn’t linger, simply because it was none of his business, and he still had work to do.

At first, Huo Yunchuan only glanced at An Cheng and assessed him as someone who was diligent at work, which was commendable. However, soon after, the family photo on the employee’s desk caught Huo Yunchuan’s eyes.

The well-behaved, somewhat silly hair, the fair and handsome face—everything looked so familiar.

Huo Yunchuan walked over, reaching over An Cheng’s shoulder to pick up the photo frame.

Seeing An Cheng’s surprised look when he turned around, he immediately confirmed that the person in the photo was his little angel, and this employee was the father of his little angel.

“Hello,” he greeted.

“You… hello…” An Cheng looked at his own photo awkwardly and said, “That’s my photo.”

“I know. Are these your three children?” Huo Yunchuan asked, his thumb gently passing over one of the children’s faces, his eyes gentle. “They’re very outstanding.”

An Cheng probably sensed that Huo Yunchuan had no malicious intent and was willing to continue the conversation. “Thank you. They are indeed pretty good.” This was his pride.

“The eldest ones are in college, right?” Huo Yunchuan asked.

“No, they’re taking the postgraduate entrance exam,” An Cheng replied with a smiling nod, pointing to his eldest daughter. “This child applied to a school in the United States this year, and she’s been doing well academically since she was young.” Then he pointed to his younger son. “Her brother is the same. He just skipped a grade last year and is now in the second year of junior high. He’ll be in the third year when school starts.”

Huo Yunchuan pointed to the one that An Cheng had omitted, “And this one?”

An Cheng said, “This child is my second child, obedient and hardworking. However, all the children in our family are easy to manage; they’re not mischievous.”

Huo Yunchuan then asked, “What’s his name?” He knew it well but just wanted to hear those three words.

An Cheng seemed a bit surprised, “You mean my second child? His name is An Wu Yang. His mother chose the name.” However, the names of the three siblings together were quite impressive. “My eldest is named An Wu Yu, and the youngest is named An Wu Ji.”

All the names carried the meaning of peace and safety.

Huo Yunchuan understood, returned the photo frame, and said, “Very good.” Then he added, “Let’s get the meeting started. It’s my first time coming to Huarui for a meeting, and I hope you leave me with a good impression.”

“A meeting?” An Cheng looked at his tall figure in amazement, utterly surprised.

Wait a minute. This demeanor, this tone… Could it be that young CEO, Mr. Huo Yunchuan?

He really is quite young, An Cheng thought, if he can chat casually with me, his personality should be good.

Author’s note:

Old Huo: Regarding speculations about my personality, I hope you’ll continue to think so in the future.
