Huo Yunchuan knew that he had been angry for a moment. As the only child born into the Huo family, he had been the focus of attention from two generations of elders and distant relatives since birth.

He couldn’t imagine under what circumstances a pair of parents would show no concern for their own children.

The current situation was that many things had happened to An Wuyang in just two months.

Based on his understanding and the conversation with An’s father earlier, Huo Yunchuan could be sure that the An family had no idea about what had happened to An Wuyang.

It wasn’t because he deliberately concealed it; it was clear that they just didn’t care.

Huo Yunchuan sulked for a while with a cold face. In HighRock’s office, he caught up with Gao Yan, asking, “Have you ever investigated the family situations of the company’s employees? How do they usually communicate with their children?”

Gao Yan was a bit puzzled. Was this the topic of today’s meeting?

Indeed, it was the CEO. His focus was so profound: “Uh, I haven’t looked into that yet. If necessary, I’ll find the time to investigate.”

Huo Yunchuan waved his hand. “I just want to ask you, how do parents in ordinary families communicate with their children? Is it common for them to be indifferent to the lives of their teenage children?”

He knew very well whether it was normal or not; he just wanted to know how prevalent it was.

Although he didn’t know why the CEO suddenly brought up this question, Gao Yan answered seriously, “If you’re talking about ordinary families, this phenomenon is very common.”

As far as he knew, there were reports about the family relationships in contemporary society tending to be suboptimal.

“Especially in families with multiple children,” Gao Yan added.

Then he saw the CEO’s face filled with clouds, perplexing him. Could there be recent conflicts in family relationships?

Huo Yunchuan instructed, “Have the HR department provide me with the information of an employee whose last name is An.”

Once he said this, Gao Yan immediately understood, “An Cheng?”

From what he knew, this employee was diligent, serious, and had no particular distinguishing features. However, since it was the information requested by Huo Yunchuan, he would find it out immediately.

With the sudden internal notice for a meeting, the executives at Huarui had guessed that the big boss was coming.

An Cheng was considered a small leader in the company and also attended the meeting. When he saw the young CEO with a majestic demeanor, he smiled and thought, “Ah, he’s the young man I was just chatting with.” Tall, handsome, and exuding an extraordinary temperament, the radiance seemed even more dazzling from a distance.

The key was his age. Those in their forties and fifties, like An Cheng, couldn’t feel jealous at all, only admiration.

At some point, An Cheng used to think, “If only I had a better background and didn’t end up in a poor rural area, how great would that be?” However, those were thoughts from his school days. Since marrying Ding Wei, a local woman, and settling down here, he had let go of many things.

Huo Yunchuan conducted the meeting very briefly, starting at eleven and finishing by eleven forty. The meeting ended.

Gao Yan was absolutely certain that the CEO was pressed for time. “I’ve sent the information to your email. If you have any questions, let me know.”

“Hmm.” In a hurry to leave, Huo Yunchuan told Gao Yan, “I’m in a rush today. Let’s grab a meal when I have time later.”

“Not at all, take your time. Your matters are more important. Go ahead,” Gao Yan replied.

Then he watched as Huo Yunchuan walked away briskly, seemingly in a real hurry.

Thinking about the few times he had interacted with this cousin, Gao Yan felt that he was definitely a typical person who appeared cold but had a warm heart. Although he looked aloof, he wasn’t as frightening as he seemed.

In the apartment, Zhang Ayi had already prepared a meal, eagerly waiting for Mr. Huo to return and eat. However, it was already noon, and he hadn’t come back yet. She worried that An Wuyang might be hungry, so she suggested, “Wuyang, Auntie will serve you a bowl of soup. How about having some soup first?”

An Wuyang, just having received a message, looked up and said, “Auntie Zhang, let’s wait a bit. He said he’s on his way.”

Besides, he had been eating constantly, with snacks and fruits always available, so he wasn’t really hungry.

“Alright,” Zhang Ayi agreed.

This kind and gentle aunt, in her fifties, had been taking care of An Wuyang for a few days and started to feel a genuine affection for this child. After finishing the household chores this morning, they sat down together to watch TV. He willingly accompanied her to watch a family drama, and it was heartwarming.

So, the two of them, one old and one young, waited for another ten minutes or so. Finally, there was movement at the door.

Mr. Huo’s tall figure entered the house, immediately making the spacious room feel cramped. Maybe it was because of his overpowering presence, An Wuyang couldn’t be sure.

“Mr. Huo, welcome home,” An Wuyang stood up, his clear and pleasant voice reaching Mr. Huo before he did.

The mature man, delighted by the sweet tone, experienced the most enjoyable return home so far. In summary, the actions of changing shoes and putting things down were chaotic, far from composed. “Thank you.”

An Wuyang asked, “Did things go smoothly at the office today?”

Huo Yunchuan nodded at him, “Your leave of absence has been processed. Two years.”

“Really?” An Wuyang’s face lit up with a smile. “That’s great.” Two years was the time he had in mind, and the thought of not going to school for two years made him feel really good.

“Are you that happy?” Huo Yunchuan approached, quickly standing in front of An Wuyang.

Considering his overly tall and stern demeanor, there was always a somewhat intimidating pressure that made people feel a bit apprehensive.

Fortunately, An Wuyang wasn’t too afraid of this wealthy young master who would casually pick him up and wipe his face on his thigh. “Yes, because I’m bad at studying.”

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t do well in academics, and the sight of schools and textbooks terrified him.

Huo Yunchuan nodded, “That’s not your problem.” He simultaneously loosened the tie around his neck and placed it on the sofa arm. “Didn’t you say this morning that you wanted me to hug you?”

“Ah?” An Wuyang made a silly monosyllabic sound.

“I can fulfill that request now,” Huo Yunchuan declared, then hugged the boy standing in front of him.

No, it should be said, enveloped!

An Wuyang felt that except for his head, his whole body was surrounded by Mr. Huo, tightly wrapped, and not painful at all.

While humorously complaining, he tried to stay calm and think that if it was because of the morning text message, well, what he wanted to convey was actually just a simple farewell hug. Physical contact wouldn’t exceed two seconds, nor would it render him completely immobile.

“Today at the office, it seemed like I saw your dad,” Huo Yunchuan thought about it and said truthfully.

An Wuyang stiffened all over, then skillfully said, “My dad? What a coincidence.”

Huo Yunchuan, satisfied with the smirk at the corner of his mouth, had long deduced from the stiff reaction of the little fellow in his arms that he probably knew about this matter a long time ago. “Exactly, it’s just a coincidence.”

With no other choice, An Wuyang naturally went along with him, pretending not to know.

After contemplating for a moment, An Wuyang chose to voluntarily confess, “Oh? In that case, my mom is also your employee. It seems she and my dad work at the same company.”

He felt that Mr. Huo would eventually get hold of this information, so he might as well expose it himself.

“That’s indeed quite a coincidence.” Huo Yunchuan patted An Wuyang’s hair, then lowered his head to catch those pleasant scents. “When I acquired that company, I slightly reduced the salaries of the original employees. I wonder if your parents told you about it?”

“It seems like they did.” An Wuyang remembered his parents mentioning it.

Huo Yunchuan’s gaze gradually darkened. Without showing any emotion, he fixed his eyes on An Wuyang’s adorable ear. “So, do you want me to promote and raise the salary for your parents, or do you prefer things to stay the same?”

As long as he could say it…

“Of course, there’s no need for a promotion or a raise,” An Wuyang maintained the immobile posture in which he was enveloped. Frowning, he said, “If their performance at work is good, it’s your prerogative as the boss to decide whether to promote or raise their salaries. But I won’t make such a request from you.”

After a pause, he added seriously, “How could I ask you to do that?”

Mr. Huo, rejected by this resolute response, was left speechless.

An Wuyang realized that they seemed to have hugged for a long time. If they continued like this, Aunt Zhang’s dishes would get cold. So, he cautiously reminded, “We should wash up and eat, Mr. Huo.”

After saying that, the immersed-in-hugging Mr. Huo finally released him.

Aunt Zhang, who had been secretly hiding in the corner, saw that the two had finally finished their private conversation. She walked out with a smiling face, “Mr. Huo is back? Let’s eat. It’s almost half-past twelve.”

“Miss Zhang, next time if I come back late, you can have him eat first. No need to wait for me,” Huo Yunchuan instructed.

“I did tell him, but he wouldn’t listen,” Aunt Zhang complained. “That kid is so stubborn, insisting on waiting for you to eat.”

Huo Yunchuan’s heart unexpectedly sweetened at the complaint. He glanced deeply at An Wuyang, who was washing his hands in front. “…” Truly a clingy little expert, he thought.

An “Clingy Expert” Wuyang was earnestly washing his hands, completely unaware of the various labels Mr. Huo had tagged him with.

“Huo Mr., could you help me buy some books?” he pondered. During the time of pregnancy and giving birth, it would be a good opportunity to study the things he wanted to learn.

Huo Yunchuan nodded, “Sure, make a list, and I’ll have Chen Fang buy them.”

An Wuyang responded with an “okay,” saying, “Thanks. I’ll make some delicious snacks, and the first one will be for you.”

Huo Yunchuan, repeatedly fed with sugar, maintained a calm smile. “Why give it to me first?”

An Wuyang explained, “Because Aunt Zhang is getting old, and I’m afraid it might upset her stomach.”

Huo Yunchuan: “…”

Another harmonious meal passed. Witnessing the little angel diligently eating, Huo Yunchuan felt like he had come alive again.

Things that used to seem insignificant were now different, leaving only a faint sense of emotion.

“There are a lot of bones in this. You can have them,” the little angel said.

Moved, Huo Yunchuan, who couldn’t refuse, replied with a smiling emoji: “I’ll gladly take the bones with a lot.”

The only three people who could understand his friend circle updates, Jiang Shaofei, Chen Chu, and Ji Mingjue, suddenly saw their buddy’s dog abuse update. They were both disdainful and pleased.

Jiang Shaofei left a comment: Very good.

Chen Chu left a comment: Very good.

Ji Mingjue also left a comment: Very good.

This Huo Yunchuan, with such fireworks, was quite likable to them.

From now on, whenever they provoked him with their brain-dead moments, at least there was a way to curve around it.

As long as it wasn’t like Ji Mingjue, the jerk who dragged people to play games until it was dark, they probably wouldn’t get beaten up.

An Wuyang had almost forgotten about the game incident, especially since Mr. Huo didn’t pursue it. After all, life should be about moving forward.

Let the past be carried away by the wind.

“Mr. Huo, I’m going to take a nap. Are you sleeping?” An Wuyang patted the mattress next to him.

Huo Yunchuan, who had just entered the bedroom, was momentarily dumbfounded. Then he nodded and, with a reserved and stern face, said, “Wait a moment; I’ll check some documents first.”

The documents sent to his mailbox by Gao Yan today were in two parts.

As the little angel had mentioned, his mother turned out to be an employee of Huarui as well. After the company was acquired, she was transferred to a subsidiary under the Huo family.

Huo Yunchuan’s gaze lingered on the salary records of An Cheng’s parents. It was a decent figure.

Suddenly, he remembered the second time he met An Wuyang. At that time, the latter had claimed to be short of money, portraying himself as a pitiful figure from a poor family.

Yet, it turned out his parents were quite capable of earning money.

Considering An’s family had three children and the eldest daughter could study abroad in the United States, it wasn’t surprising.

Probably because the little angel was not academically inclined, the family provided less financial support.

After carefully reviewing the data, Huo Yunchuan closed his laptop. His workspace was set up in a spacious corner of the room, with large French windows nearby, allowing abundant natural light.

He suddenly thought of the issue of glaring sunlight, so he stood up and pulled the thick gray-blue curtains closed.

An Wuyang, who had been disturbed by the sunlight earlier, noticed that Mr. Huo closed the curtains and turned around.

Quickly, he was dumbfounded: “…” Mr. Huo was changing his clothes, and his buttocks were so round, and his legs were so straight!

An Wuyang watched as Huo Yunchuan put on a thin pair of pants, and then the latter suddenly turned around, raising an eyebrow as he looked at An Wuyang who was caught peeking.

Although Huo Yunchuan felt his heart bubbling with beauty, he still pretended to be sacred and untouchable. “Is it good looking?”

These legs of his had been the object of desire for every lady he met on a blind date, and he was well aware of it.

With extraordinary background, outstanding looks, and various capabilities, Huo Yunchuan’s name was practically synonymous with perfection.

An Wuyang nodded and said, “Good looking!” The fabric seemed to have an excellent drape and felt a bit like silk. “Is there a small size? I also want a set…”

As soon as he finished speaking, he regretted it. He felt like he was always asking for things, leaving a bad impression of being someone who liked to take advantage.

Huo Yunchuan: “What are you talking about?”

“Sleeping shorts.” The little angel said, “Silk sleeping shorts!”

Wearing these in the summer is very cool, but they are not cheap. Using his own pocket money to buy them is definitely out of the question.
