In An Wuyang’s impression, Mr. Huo had always appeared as a stern, rigorous, and intellectually powerful figure. He had never imagined that one day he would hear words resembling “picking a lock” from Mr. Huo.

Apart from surprise, it seemed to confirm that Mr. Huo cared deeply about the baby. For the baby’s sake, he had lost his usual calm and looked more like a doting father.

“But it won’t work either.” After a little consideration, An Wuyang shook his head, “This method is too risky. I don’t agree with doing it this way.”

He believed that if things were exposed, it would irreversibly damage Mr. Huo’s reputation. Moreover, An Wuyang felt there were many ways to obtain the household register, not necessarily resorting to theft.

Huo Yunchuan explained to him, “We’ll go up when your parents leave for work; this way, there won’t be any danger.”

An Wuyang blinked, realizing that Mr. Huo was genuinely anxious. He lowered his head, silently contemplating, making the time seem quite long. “How about this,” he finally said, “I’m eighteen now. I can talk to my mom at this age, and she should agree to move the household registration out.”

Huo Yunchuan immediately thought that An Wuyang could indeed transfer the household registration to the school. “No,” he suppressed his voice and said, “Directly move your household registration to my place; that should work.”

However, the little angel still had to tell a lie to his family.

“Okay.” An Wuyang, not foolish, also thought of a satisfactory excuse. He sighed in relief, “Let’s settle it like this. I’ll call my mom tomorrow.”

Then, he would transfer the household registration to Mr. Huo’s house, wait until the baby’s registration was settled, and then move it back out.

The plan seemed perfect.

After their face-to-face discussion, dinner arrived. “Mr. Huo, let’s eat quickly,” An Wuyang, feeling sorry for Mr. Huo who hadn’t eaten dinner and had been waiting outside, urged him to eat.

He picked up a pair of public chopsticks and, for the first time, served a dish to Huo Yunchuan. Although it was An Wuyang’s least favorite vegetable, Mr. Huo still swallowed the dry lump in his throat, feeling an unprecedented sense of honor.

“Thank you,” he ate slowly.

Mr. Huo felt that the vegetable was cooked to perfection—crisp, sweet, tender, and juicy.

Early on, An Wuyang understood that he felt relaxed and at ease in front of Mr. Huo, not paying much attention to details. So, after serving the vegetables, he continued to pick up a piece of meat, saying with a smile, “This looks delicious too. Try it first and see if it’s too greasy.”

When Mr. Huo said it wasn’t too greasy, An Wuyang picked up a piece for himself, happily starting to eat.

Huo Yunchuan watched him from across the table, his deep eyes flickering, calculating something.

At this moment, a message from Mr. Huo’s father came in, “Yunchuan, tomorrow is Saturday. Come home for a meal with your grandfather; he’s been grumbling about not seeing you for days.”

Reading the message, Huo Yunchuan furrowed his brow.

He replied, “Okay.”

Huo Yunchuan had been single-mindedly dealing with An Wuyang’s matters lately. If his father hadn’t suddenly sent this information, he would have forgotten that he hadn’t been home for a long time.

“Tomorrow at noon, I’ll go home for a meal,” he said after paying the bill, returning to the car with An Wuyang.

An Wuyang was momentarily surprised, asking, “Is it your parents’ home?”

Huo Yunchuan nodded, “Yes, my parents’ home.” He then explained, “I’ll be back in the afternoon, but I’m not entirely sure. I’ll let you know once I confirm the situation.”

An Wuyang readily agreed, “Sure.”

He realized that he wasn’t resisting Mr. Huo going out as much as before, perhaps because he had spent several nights and developed a sense of belonging to the house.

Huo Yunchuan, hearing the cheerful tone, couldn’t help but glance at him. He still preferred An Wuyang to rely on him a bit more.

“If anything happens, give me a call,” Huo Yunchuan said.

“It’s okay, what could possibly happen when I’m at home?” An Wuyang smiled. “You can rest assured and accompany your loved ones for a meal. I won’t disturb you.”

Huo Yunchuan tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, pressed against the leather, and said in a deep voice, “Even if there’s nothing, you can still call me. I want to know about your situation.”

Thinking about Mr. Huo’s love for the baby, An Wuyang nodded understandingly, “Alright.”

The next morning at ten o’clock, the sun was shining brightly outside.

Huo Yunchuan stayed at home with An Wuyang for breakfast, deliberately wearing one of the shirts the latter had ironed for him.

He remembered this shirt, one he hadn’t worn for almost half a year.

In other words, it was an outdated old model from a certain brand.

“Goodbye,” the strict man changed his shoes in the entrance, turned to look at the little angel behind him.

“Yeah.” The other immediately flashed a comfortable smile at him, then hesitated, and ultimately waved, saying, “Goodbye.”

What President Huo saw was a little cutie who wanted a hug but didn’t dare to ask for one.

An Wuyang, who clearly remembered reporting the lack of a farewell hug to Mr. Huo last time, and the latter had readily agreed.

Maybe he forgot, An Wuyang thought, so he had to remind him next time.

As An Wuyang was lost in thought, a pair of arms, carrying a faint scent of men’s cologne, enveloped him tightly.

“Uh…” The little teenager was surprised for a moment, then happily revealed his small fangs.

Mr. Huo is like a magic lamp, he thought.

This time, Mr. Huo not only hugged him but also held his hand…

They held hands for quite a while before letting go. “Have lunch by yourself, eat a bit more as usual. If you feel nauseous, eat smaller meals more frequently, don’t rush,” the voice calmly reminded.

An Wuyang nodded hastily, “Okay.”

He didn’t mind at all that Mr. Huo’s voice was as stern as iron, because the palms and chest of this man were both warm.

“Goodbye.” Huo Yunchuan kissed the forehead of the little angel under the broad daylight and then cleanly turned and walked out the door.

“…” An Wuyang foolishly touched his forehead, thinking and muttering, “Could it be that Mr. Huo sees me as his own child?”

The more he thought about it, the more he felt it was a possibility. In fact, when facing Mr. Huo, he had felt a similar care, akin to that of an elder.

After becoming more familiar with each other, the other party finally understood that he wasn’t a suitable object in that regard.

Taking advantage of it being Saturday, his parents probably weren’t working.

An Wuyang called Ding Wei, thinking aloud, “Mom, are you at home? I want to go back and get my household registration book.”

Ding Wei asked, “What’s wrong? Do you need it for school?” She vaguely remembered her eldest daughter needing it for school back then.

An Wuyang said, “Yes, we need it for school.” And added, “Or maybe I should just move out directly, get my own household registration book. After all, we’ll have to separate sooner or later.”

Ding Wei thought about it and didn’t object, “Sure, you’re all grown up now, it doesn’t matter when you separate.” Anyway, although their family was native to the suburbs of Beijing, they hadn’t received any bonuses, and there were no demolitions in sight.

Those windfalls from the sky, they didn’t even need to think about them in this lifetime.

“Okay, I’ll go back to get it in a while.” An Wuyang paused and asked, “What about my sister? Did she go to the airport?”

Ding Wei said, “Yes, she went. Your dad took her there early this morning.”

After inquiring about his sister’s situation, it seemed there wasn’t much else to say. An Wuyang said his goodbyes to his mom.

“Wuyang, are you going out?” Aunt Zhang’s reaction was very nervous as she asked, “Did you tell Mr. Huo? Did he allow you to go out alone?”

An Wuyang nodded and said, “He knows I’m going out. Aunt Zhang, don’t worry.”

Then An Wuyang smoothly left. After all, Aunt Zhang couldn’t call Mr. Huo to confirm. In his mind, going back and forth between his own home was as simple as eating and drinking.

Never mind that the baby is just under two months old. Even if the baby were four or five months old… Well… Going out secretly at four or five months old would be asking for trouble, risking getting beaten up.

With a mind full of awareness, An Wuyang took a taxi to his family’s apartment, smoothly retrieved his household registration book, and carefully placed it in his backpack. He told Ding Wei, “I’ll bring it back after using it.”

Seeing him leaving, Ding Wei was puzzled. “Aren’t you going to eat?”

An Wuyang replied, “It’s still early; I want to make good use of the time to consult.”

Ding Wei didn’t question him any further and waited until An Wuyang had left for a while before she remembered, “Isn’t today Saturday?”

Many departments weren’t working.

But consulting shouldn’t be a problem.

With the precious household registration book in his possession, An Wuyang sat in the returning taxi, and his heart inexplicably pounded.

He felt it was probably because he had done something out of the ordinary.

But thinking about it, it didn’t make sense. The most out-of-the-ordinary thing he had done in his life was probably getting pregnant with Mr. Huo’s baby…

—Mr. Huo, I’ve got the household registration book. Take a look at the [photo].

The fair fingers of the young man held a reddish-brown book, accentuating the elegance of those slender fingers.

Meanwhile, Huo Yunchuan sat in the tea room of the Huo family, fulfilling his grandfather’s request by making tea for the old man.

“Your phone is ringing,” Grandpa Huo said.

Sitting opposite, he enjoyed watching his eldest grandson’s tea-making skills with relish. “Good, like flowing clouds and water.” Clearly, he hadn’t spared much effort on the tea set.

“Please,” Huo Yunchuan said.

The serious man poured tea for his grandfather, witnessed him savoring it, and only then did he divert his attention to the phone on the table.

He quietly unlocked the screen with his fingerprint and glanced at the content.

The first thing that caught his eye was the combination of fair and reddish-brown colors, followed by the black text.

With a clang, the tea set fell from the table, causing a disturbance that interrupted the elderly Mr. Huo, who was enjoying his tea. “Yun Chuan, what happened?”

Huo Yunchuan replied, “It’s nothing. Something fell, and I’m picking it up.”

As he bent down, retrieving the fallen items, including his phone, he knelt under the table to send a message: “Are you safe? Have you left?”

Seeing her full name, An Wuyang couldn’t help but shiver and nervously replied, “Yes.”

—Yes, my foot! Who allowed you to sneak out?

Huo Yunchuan was furious, but in front of his grandfather, he restrained himself from calling An Wuyang and giving her a piece of his mind.

—Oh, I’m home now. Let’s talk when you get back.

An Wuyang deeply regretted it. She should have lied to Mr. Huo and said her mother had sent her something.

—You seem to want to drive me crazy.

Huo Yunchuan remarked angrily.

Holding the phone tightly, An Wuyang replied with a tense expression, “Then I’ll go back now.”

Upon receiving the response, Huo Yunchuan’s face darkened even more than before. “No!”

There was no reply from the other end.

“Yun Chuan? Have you found it?” Mr. Huo knocked on the table, feeling that his grandson had been crouched down for too long.

“I found it.” Huo Yunchuan suppressed his previous irritability, placed the tea set back on the table, and said, “Grandfather, excuse me for a moment.”

He briskly left the room with his phone in hand, headed upstairs, and found an undisturbed room on the third floor. Locking the door behind him, he called out, “An Wuyang?”

After the call connected, he called her name.

“…” Upon hearing him call her full name, An Wuyang instinctively felt resistance and chose not to speak.

“Hello? Can you hear me?” Huo Yunchuan called again.

“Yeah, I’m not in a good mood right now. We’ll talk when you come back.” An Wuyang spoke without much intonation and then chose to hang up.

“…” Huo Yunchuan realized his call had been rejected and immediately kicked the base of the wall in frustration.

He dialed again, it went through, but she hung up again.

On the third attempt, An Wuyang had already rejected the call twice, making him hesitant to call a third time.

He felt that Mr. Huo was not someone to be messed with, and if he were truly angry, he might indeed beat him up.

That would be disastrous.

An Wuyang felt that this phone call was a troublesome one and should be answered.

However, the taxi driver suddenly said, “Young man, we’ve arrived.”

Comparing the importance of the taxi driver and Mr. Huo, the young man, with his idealized thoughts of the five talks and four beauties, naturally couldn’t delay the taxi driver’s work.

“Okay, how much?” He put down his phone, took out his wallet, and paid the fare.

The two of them completed the transaction slowly, chatting a bit in between, talking about the annoying weather in Beijing.

It got a bit hotter than the previous days.

Finally, when An Wuyang got out of the car, his phone in his pocket rang persistently.

An Wuyang took it out and weakly answered, “Mr. Huo?”

Huo Yunchuan finally heard the voice of that irritable person, and his anxious heart finally settled.

“It’s me.” He let out a sigh and adopted the softest tone he had ever used in his life. “Don’t hang up. Let’s talk.”

The little angel whose temper quickly passed responded with a nasal “Okay.”

Huo Yunchuan heard this and secretly rubbed his knees, which had been sore from kneeling earlier. He felt aches and soreness all over his body. “It’s good that you got the household register. I’m very happy.”

He forcefully suppressed his irritability and anger.

Those who were close to Huo Yunchuan knew it well – when he was pushed to the limit, he became a tricky character that no one could control.

“Oh,” An Wuyang rubbed his eyes and said, “I apologize to you. In the future, I’ll let you know when I go out.”

In this matter, he felt that he was in the wrong, so he thought it was more appropriate to apologize.

“Yeah,” Huo Yunchuan said sweetly.

Currently, the only things capable of calming him down were surprisingly just a little over eighteen years old, and the other was a two-month-old embryo.

Both were still pitifully young.
