At Zenith-O…

One of the men – the bulkier between the two – grabbed Hwang Meilin by the wrist and threw her away when she tried to rescue her friend, Teng Man Rui from the two hungry wolves who were eyeing to take her home.

She lost her balance and was repelled strongly backward. Hwang Meilin got nervous even more as she stumbled and struggled on her own, flapping her arms trying to find balance, when she bumped her back onto something solid. She bounced forward this time.

'Huh! Ouch!' She gasped in protest as her eyes widened from getting caught unaware.

Now, being thrown forward, a hand caught her arm in place. As she turned her head backward, she could sense a hovering shadow of a man who was standing behind her. "Be careful, lady."

"S-Sorry. I'm sorry." Hwang Meilin blurted out thoughtlessly.

"Who pushed her?" The man bellowed, despite the loud music. The oblivious youths within earshot who were still dancing glanced at him as they heard him ask forebodingly.

The man, although cladded in an ominous navy blue cloak and hood, had a strikingly buff muscular body, of which Hwang Mailin had proven to be strong and sturdy during the short contact she had from their earlier smash. Only a part of his face was showing since the hood had made the rest hidden, but the exposed part of his face revealed a copper-skin and a white scar across his nose bridge. He was tall and had this authoritative presence.

Hwang Mailin shivered as something was menacing from the aura he had been giving. 'Is he a savior, a hero that will help us out of this situation, or is he a much greater threat to us? Oh my! Where are our guy friends?' She bit her lower lips in great, deepening anxiety. There were three men now vying for Teng Man Rui who was still giggling senselessly and swaying as her eyelids dropped sheepishly. The two men from earlier were still grabbing her arms at each side to steady her.

The two men, upon hearing the query, tilted their arrogant heads without answering.

It looked like a brawl would start anytime soon.

The newcomer was outnumbered.

'If he's going to save us, he would have to work double. There were two of them. But then, if he would help us, what will he get from it?'

The newcomer gestured for her to stand aside.

The crowd of people, sensing their conflict, had given them enough room to move. Some who were near watched closely for an interesting fist-fight to occur, while the majority had given them the cold shoulder and resumed their dancing.

Hwang Meilin tried to contact Xue Jinxu, Kang Sola, and their guy friends who had the physical strength to face these brutes.

She kept on hitting her number one speed-dial as well.

'Where's Jinxu-Jie and Sola?' She turned her head and saw the two at the sides of the mob. Xue Jixnu had caught up to Kang Sola, but it seemed that it would take them forever to come to Hwang Meilin's aid. The two ladies were moving against the flow of people, though they were trying to get closer.

The two men who had Man Rui whispered with each other. They nodded their heads as if they were agreeing on something. A master plan, perhaps?

One held onto Man Rui while the other man struck a pose, ready to surge and attack the newcomer. Without further ceremony, he launched a swift attack – a straight jab – aiming for the newcomer's face.

The guy in the hood was faster though. He not only dodged the attack but at the same time launched a powerful kick into the attacker's shin. Almost instantaneously, the attacker fell on his knees and grunted.

The other guy, the one holding Man Rui, prepared to attack as well. Hwang Meilin rushed to her staggering friend as the second man freed her.

"Are you okay, Man Rui?" Hwang Meilin asked, in which the lady only responded with a 'Hmmm.'

The second attacker launched himself towards the hooded man and even shouted as he ran. "Eeyaah!!! You son-of-a-bitch!" He was planning to attack with his whole body, his arm folded on his side.

The hooded man only slid and sidestepped, and stretched one long leg out, and the attacker went straight towards the ground as he tripped.

'Ooohhh…' Hwang Meilin's eyes sparkled from both delight and awe. The newcomer had swift moves and sound judgment, that he barely lifted a finger or expend too much energy to counterattack his sparring partners.

Hwang Meilin had not seen a brawl this neat. She tried to take a sly peek at the man's façade, but she could not make any more out of it. The hood had hidden his eyes up to his head. The lower half of his face revealed the white scar across his perfectly shaped nose, and his cheeks were angular and devoid of any fats, yet not at all intimidating. It was his aura that could be daunting, as his presence was majestic, but his face seemed relaxed and reassuring. Hwang Meilin could even swear upon her life that he even had some sort of handsome features here and there, although she couldn't define it well because of the cover.

"Aren't you going to flee?" He asked curtly when Hwang Meilin remained rooted on the ground.

The two men who attacked earlier scrambled on their feet.

"Uhm, En. Thanks." Hwang Meilin said while nodding. She started ushering Teng Man Rui away.

Because of the thick dancing crowd, Hwang Meilin had a difficult time maneuvering. The tall guy sighed, swept past through them, and utilized his body as a human shield that both blocked the crowd and paved a way for them.

Hwang Mailin followed his lead and in no time, they reached the safer side of the dance floors where the tables and the bar were located.

"T-Thank you." Hwang Meilin spouted quickly since the man, already achieving his chivalry, was on the move again. He nodded in acknowledgment. "Be careful, ladies." With that one statement, he left without any formal introductions.

Hwang Meilin swept him one last glance before she tended to her lady friends. Clinging to Teng Man Rui, she waved her right hand towards where her other two friends were. Xue Jinxu and Kang Sola circumvented the dance floor and finally reached them.

"Oh my God! Are you both fine?" Xue Jinxu hugged both Teng Man Rui and Hwang Meilin. She caressed Man Rui on the cheek. The question was intended more for Hwang Meilin to answer.

"Yes. Luckily we escaped that situation unscathed!" Hwang Meilin heaved a big sigh of relief. "Thanks to that man!"

"Which man, Jie-Jie?" Kang Sola asked, blinking innocently and curiously at the same time. "I'm sorry I didn't reach you on time, though!"

"The man that got to us and helped us tackle those rowdy men." Hwang Meilin explained. "There are still good people in this world!"

"You're really lucky. I've contacted my husband. They will be here in no time. Let's go out first. Seems that this lady over here would need fresh air." Xue Jinxu raised a brow at Teng Man Rui. 'We need to talk later.'
