Chapter 78: Chapter 78 – Time for Change! Golden Ranger!

You can even form teams in this game?

Ren Suo selected to view the details for forming teams and the “Team Contract” appeared. It explained the hidden advantages and disadvantages:

[Trainees with the Team Contract would not ascend to the heavens immediately after being fully healed. Instead, they would remain on the ground at the current position and enter a state of ‘sub-optimal health’, having insufficient energy to move. Their filled health would reset to 0 and rise again slowly. When their health refills fully, they will be removed from the training session immediately. Other healing shots will speed up this process.]

[When the trainee is in a state of ‘sub-optimal health’, his/her teammates can spend 10 seconds to give the trainee their fats and unbalanced health conditions, through which the trainee can break out of the state of ‘sub-optimal health’. Upon successfully breaking free of the state of ‘sub-optimal health’, the trainee’s health will remain at 90 points, but he/she will be free to move.]

[Trainees with the Team Contract will be able to see their teammates position on the map.]

[Trainees with the Team Contract are given translation miracles that allow them to communicate with their teammates clearly regardless of distance, and differences in languages spoken would not affect gameplay (the trainees will hear their teammates speaking in their most comfortable language).]

[Upon successfully completing the round, trainees with the Team Contract will receive an individual ‘Final Priest Score’ which is an average score based on the number of people in the team. The other scores including the number of healed opponents and healing output are calculated on an individual basis.]

[Trainees with the Team Contract would not be immediately kicked out of the training session when they ascend to the heavens but will be returned to the resting room to continue watching their teammates’ progress. If the team successfully completes the training session, the trainees that had previously lost would instead also pass.]

[Trainees with the Team Contract must enter the same training ground and session with their teammates. However, the Team Contract is only valid for Round Two of the training. Once Round Two of the training ends, the Team Contract will no longer appear in the Exchange List, and the team will be dissolved by default.]

Ren Suo only had one thought upon looking through the Team Contract.

It was powerful!

There would definitely be people who buy it!

Imagine the significant advantage of purchasing a Team Contract and forming a team of four, while the rest of the trainees are individual entities and playing alone.

Furthermore, a teammate who was fully healed would not ascend to the heavens immediately. As long as the enemy did not continue to heal the teammate, the rest of the team could essentially revive the teammate after eliminating the enemy.

In that case, the team of four people would gain a significant advantage over the lone trainees and could utilize a variety of combat tactics: luring, flanking, surrounding…Regardless, there was almost no hope for a lone warrior to win against a four-man team.

If all of the four-team members were able to make it to the last circle, it was almost certain that the team would win the training session.

In that case, the value of forming a team was not to be looked down upon. If the probability of success in a 100-player training session is one out of 100, then after forming a four-man team, the probability of success would be larger than all other lone players without a team. If all the other trainees in the training session were playing individually, then the probability of the four-men team winning would be 99%!

However, forming teams was not something that few people would think about.

If a four-man team encountered another four-men team, it would be a battle of individual capability.

Presently, Ren Suo was already hearing numerous exchanges in the plaza:

“Xuan Nation, is anyone from Xuan Nation forming a team?!”

“Violent Mace Heal, I want to form a team with a few ranged snipers.”

“One more player, one more player, join our team with 1000 points!”

Ren Suo could only understand the language of Xuan Nation, so he naturally only paid attention to the shouts of Xuan Nation people. Without a doubt, the Central Sphere Exchange Corner was where all trainees had to go to, so it was the easiest and most direct place to ask people to form teams.

Besides, all of the trainees barely knew each other, and they would not have known the ability of the other trainees in the previous training round. As such, it was only logical to simply form teams with anyone else who was willing to do so.

Nonetheless, the trainees who managed to appear there must have passed the first round of training and stood out amongst 99 other people. They must have had a certain level of capability, and it was unlikely to form a team with an inexperienced or reckless player.

The trainees were not senseless and would definitely have known that although the other Talents would strengthen their character, it would not give them a significant advantage over their enemies if the Talent level was not increased sufficiently.

On the other hand, the advantage of forming a team was almost greater than a max-level Talent!

It was obvious which was the better option.

However, forming a team would require spending all of the accumulated points from the previous training round. Based on Ren Suo’s calculations, successfully healing a trainee would give him 10 points + 10 points for healing output = 20 points in total. As such, 1000 points was equivalent to successfully healing 50 trainees.

That was an almost impossible target for the trainees who were dispersed around the entire training ground, unless the trainee could become a Buddha who could wipe out the entire training field with one palm.

Since that was an impossible target, forming a team would mean that the trainee would lose an opportunity to purchase Talents.

But even if the trainee and his/her team passed Round Two of the training, the “Final Witch Score” which formed the main bulk of the points would have to be averaged out amongst the team members. If they scored 1000 points, the average score per person would be 250 points. In that case, they would still be unable to purchase powerful Talents even after passing Round Two.

Of course, however, it was possible for the “Final Witch Score” for Round Two to be more than 4000 points. But if that was so, another trainee who played individually would then be able to buy four Talents at once.

Regardless, as long as the trainee was able to complete Round Two successfully individually, he/she would gain a significant advantage over those who formed teams, in Round Three, which was an individual competition round.

As Ren Suo was pondering over whether he should team up, someone tapped on his character and a dialogue bubble appeared over his head. Ren Suo heard a voice beside him saying, “Do you want to form a team?”

Conversation options appeared and Ren Suo selected “Thanks, but no thanks, see you” and left.

Ren Suo naturally could not form a team by himself, and other people formed teams as they were not confident of passing Round Two, so what about Ren Suo?

He was not confident either.

However, as long as he continued trying for tens or even hundreds of rounds, there would definitely be one round in which he passed.

When the break time started, Ren Suo could save his current game progress. That meant that he could enter Round Two of training as many times as he needed.

If he wanted to, he could even replay Round One to gain more points, but that was not necessary.

Even if he could heal 20 to 30 people, he would merely receive about 100 more points. There was no point if he could not earn at least 1000 points and purchase a useful Talent.

Rather than retrying Round One, it was more logical to find ways to pass Round Two.

Nonetheless, a small number of points could still be useful. In the “Others” category, there were other “Minor Talents” that were worth 100 points.

“Enhanced Physique” allowed trainees to turn into strong men and beautiful women from their original average physical abilities and appearances. It was similar to completely healing a trainee.

But there was a special remark for the Talent: “This Talent is everlasting and would not be negatively affected by eating junk food and drinking unhealthy drinks”. That was why the Talent cost 100 points.

Other than “Enhanced Physique”, there were other Minor Talents like “Height Adjustment”, “Appearance Adjustment”, “Pupil Color Adjustment”… They appeared to be very minor and less significant Minor Talents.

All of the Minor Talents had two similarities: they were useful for the trainees’ life, and at the same time, they were not useful for their training.

Naturally, Ren Suo did not waste any points on the Minor Talents and would rather keep his points until he successfully completed Round Two and purchase more useful Talents with his accumulated points…

The nine Major Talents were all very useful. Ren Suo particularly favored the assault rifle and the sniper rifle as his main healing equipment, but now that he had received “Avalanche Lv 1”, he knew that he should focus on the Talents of the Ruler of the Wind, Rain, and Snow. In that case, it would be best for him to replace his sniper rifle with a single-shot rifle that could be equipped with a high magnification scope.

Ren Suo could only purchase one Talent.

How should he choose… Eh?

Ren Suo suddenly noticed a small “plus” sign that was almost invisible on the upper left corner of the Exchange screen.

He clicked on it and a golden-colored figure appeared in the game. The golden-colored figure appeared in front of Ren Suo’s game character, but it appeared that other players in the game could not see it. Some players even walked right through the golden-colored figure.

“You are quite lucky to have noticed the hint I left behind in the Kingdom of the Holy Light,” the figure said. He continued in a strange and mysterious voice, “And on you…there is something that I want.”

“Let’s make a deal, lad,” he said.

“You have encountered Golden Ranger, the archenemy of the Master of the Holy Light.”

“You can now use merit points to employ the Golden Ranger to attack the exchange system of the Holy Gods.”

“Each successful attack on the system by the Golden Ranger can reward the player with 1,000~10,000 game points. A minimum of 1 merit point is required to attack the system, up to a maximum of 10 merit points. The more merit points used per attack, the higher the success rate of the attack, and the larger the number of game points earned.”

Ren Suo blinked.

Golden Ranger?

Ding~

Ren Suo’s mobile phone suddenly lit up and a message appeared:

[Crazy You Jilong: Remember to analyze the monsters and other information in ‘Over My Dead Body’. Organize your points into an Excel table, the table format has already been sent in WeChat. The deadline is Friday. Also, come back to work if Team Two did not assign you work!]

Ren Suo had almost forgotten to submit the major assignment.

And analyze the information…

Ren Suo remembered about the extremely detailed Family Record of Secrets in the game. Without a doubt, the Countermeasure Division would have a perfect understanding of the monsters as well as the ways to subdue them, if he were to submit that.

But he could not submit the Family Record of Secrets directly, nor could he admit that he was a genius even if he wanted to do so. There was much information that existed in the Family Record because of his past game saves and was not present in the uploaded save file…

If he purposely concealed certain pieces of information, it could result in the Countermeasure Division being unable to take precautions against the formation of monsters. It would also cause trouble if the measures they employed were found to be ineffective.

Ren Suo could not bear to conceal critical information that he already knew. If he did not pass on his knowledge that could save lives, he knew that he would feel guilty if an attack of monsters took place.

Ensuring my survival with my knowledge, and saving the world from harm—yes, I want to accomplish both of that.

I need to figure out a way to disclose the contents of the Family Record of Secrets without involving myself at all…

Ren Suo pondered hard about what to do, and eventually his attention turned to the Mini Worlds Gaming Console, then to the game character still shown on the screen.

He thought of an absurd idea, or rather, with his complete confidence in the abilities of the game console, he thought of performing a small little test.

But…the results could be very interesting.
