Chapter 13 – Medical Assistant Assessment

At the sight of the book, Ding Lei’s face suddenly beamed whereas the village chief’s expression turned darker.

The Qimin medical book was the most widely circulated herbal book on the Wuji continent, only sold at first rate pharmacies in cities.

A place like Jiao Ye Village, being extremely small, was extremely hard to find the book even if one looked for it all over the village except for in the temple.

Since coming to Wuji Continent, Yun Sheng has never left Jiao Ye Village and never had gone through formal medical training, let alone reading the Qimin Medical Book.

Huo Yan Village’s Ding Lei was different. Her home just happened to have a Qimin Medical Book.

Master Yang observed the change within the two childs’ expressions. He glanced at Yun Sheng, “what, you haven’t even read the Qimin book before?” Then don’t participate in the examination. I won’t accept those who are blind.

“Did you hear that, Master Yang told you to leave. You haven’t even read the Qimin Medical Book before and you still dare to come take the assessment. Right big brother Ye?” Ding Lei was elated and intimately asked the youth.

The youth surnamed Ye also was somewhat slightly surprised. He didn’t think that Yun Sheng hadn’t even read a basic medical book yet still came to participate in the assessment.

“I’m not blind, just give me a quarter of an hour to read the Qimin book,” Yun Sheng after being surprised restored her normal calm expression. She didn’t fear Master Yang’s cold eyes and directly took the book.

Qimin medical book was a lot thinner than the Yun Family’s medical book but it still had hundreds of pages.

Everyone including Ye youth didn’t understand what Yun Sheng was planning to do next.

Yun Sheng took the book, lowered her eyes while her slender fingers turned the pages of the book. Her pink lips wriggled slightly. At the start, her actions weren’t considered to be quick but as she went deeper into the book, her actions sped up as she started to flip the pages faster.

Everyone then suddenly understood, she was going to read the whole book with a quarter of an hour!

“It’s no use reading it. You’re dreaming if you want to compete with me when you’re just reading it at the last minute” Ding Lei said disdainfully.

It was difficult for a six year old child to read and understand a whole medical book without any prior medical training let alone memorizing the whole book within a quarter of an hour.

After immersed in her thoughts, Yun SHeng had just finished reading the medical book. “Master Yang, can you start the assessment? I am ready”.

Yang Magician eyes flashed. With such a confidence, he can’t help but was convinced by Yun Sheng.”Yun Ying Teng” (I’m not going to attempt to translate any chinese medical herbs because first of all, I’m not majoring in eastern medicine and searching up the english equivalent takes too much time – I tried searching it up. So I’m just gonna leave the names as it is)

“Yun Ying Teng, this type of grass is a herbal medicine. It has purple leaves, is only three centimeters tall. It is dry, cold, and can cure deafness and brighten up the vision. Taking it for a long term can prolong life” Ding Lei hurriedly said and proudly sneered at Yun Sheng.

“You forgot it’s habits, affinity for sunshine and wetness. Most likely grow in or along the river or wet valleys” Yun Sheng faintly added.

Master Yang after listening looked down at the book. It really was recorded in it.

She even noticed the inconspicuous parts about Yun Ying Teng.

Master Yang asked about several herbs a few more times and every single time, Ding Lei hurriedly answered first. However, Yun Sheng would always fill in a few things that Ding Lei had omitted.

She was articulate, not rushed, completely not like how a child would act.

This surprised Master Yang. The Ye youth from the side slightly raised his mouth. This wildcat really had a few knacks.

At the end of the exam, Master Yang closed the book and said in a serious tone “Qimin Medical Book page 109.”

Ding Lei suddenly blanked out. She didn’t expect that Master Yang would suddenly change the style of the exam.

Although she had studied Qimin book, but she was far from the point of being able to recite ah! Nevertheless, she didn’t fret. She didn’t believe that Yun Sheng would be able to recite it at all.

“Xue Xi Shi (Blood Rhino Stone), in the form of a crystal, shaped as a hexagon, has a sliver of blood silk at the core side ad is collected from the sea. When the stone is refined, it needs to be placed in a smokeless furnace and burnt red to be taken out to make it into powder. It could aid in the internal power as well as restrain bleeding.” Yun Sheng’s voice was like a bell. Right after her voice had faded, Master Yang’s yellow face revealed a hint of admiration.

He opened the book up. She hadn’t missed a single word ah!

Ding Lei’s face scrunched up,” How could you … It’s impossible…you, you cheated! You can’t possibly know the content of that page!”

“Qimin Book page 10- Gui Xian Cao (Turtle Saliva Grass), page 240- She Xi Hu (snake breathing dendrobium), page 321… do you still need me to continue? Ding Lei, remember your promise. You’ll crawl back,” at that moment, Yun Sheng’s dimples on her delicate face was unusually vivid.

The different herbal species in the Qimin Medical Book compared to the medical book of Yun family’s was a lot less. Compared to the ten thousand herbs in her family’s book, she could even recite the Qimin book reversed!

The Ye youth at the side lifted his eyebrows. He seemed to have seen Yun Sheng’s demonic smile.

“You! You…you,” Ding Lei’s face flushed. Having to crawl back to Huo Yan Village from Jiao Ye village wasn’t just losing her own face but also her entire village’s ah! She absolutely let the waste feel proud!

Suddenly, a fire lit up in her hand. With the blazing flames, she charged towards Yun Sheng’s tiny body.

The few people present didn’t expect that a magic apprentice could instantly use fire magic without needing to recite first.

This was Yun Sheng’s first time fighting against a magician although the opponent was only an apprentice. However the flames were rapidly changing, hardly following any laws. It looked as if the flames were going to grow larger in a moment.

Yun Sheng’s body suddenly became light. A pair of powerful arms quickly embraced her.

“Remember, you owe me once,” the Ye youth’s lazy foice fell lightly into her ear and Yunsheng only saw a beautiful face appear in front of her.

The youngster’s lips hardly moved, his dim eyes twinkled, and the flames that had sprung upon Yun Sheng was stagnated in mid-air.

A fire expanded into a vicious fire wolf with a big stature, red eyes, and gave off an murderous aura. In mid air, it swallowed the flames released by Ding Lei and spit it back at Ding Lei.

This was magic transformation, at the intermediate level of magic.

The village grandpa opened his mouth widely and stared at him. The boy without any magical chants or weapons was able to directly use magic at the intermediate level!

“No–” Ding Lei cried out.

The fire sprang up and engulfed her whole entire body.

At this moment, the village grandpa had just reacted. Ding Lei can’t die.

He took out his wand and waved it. On the wand were two blue and green magic stones. The blue one glowed brightly.

A stream of water dispersed out and extinguished the fire on Ding Lei.

However, the fire wolf had already burned Ding Lei beyond recognition. Her body was covered with burns. On her body fell out a burnt out low-level magic weapon.

Ding Lei came prepared this time. Her body also carried a magic talisman that could store a magical attack.

Within an instant, it had caused this much damage? This was magic?!

Yun Sheng’s heart chilled, looking at the burnt body and agonizing Ding Lei.

Yun Sheng didn’t sympathize her but also didn’t appreciate the youth. She tried to break free from his arms.

However, the youth’s arms were as if made from steel. It was as solid as the mountains and he didn’t have any meaning of letting her go.

TIn terms of medical conditions in Wuji continent, extensive burns like Ding Lei’s if mishandled only causes her to wait for death.

“Remember little wildcat, when facing an enemy, underestimating the enemy only means stupidity,” the Ye youth’s words were like frostbites, reminding Yun Sheng.

The strong lives, the weak dies!

However in the next moment, a bewitching smile appeared on his lips: “Welcome to the Jiao Ye Village Temple. Little wildcat, remember my name – Ye Bei Ming”.
