Lin Huang was slightly embarrassed by the attention at first, but as they tossed him high into the air he gave into the moment and reveled in their cheers.
“Hey that kid’s not bad. It’s just that he's kind of young.” Yi Zheng winked at her as he said this. He took advantage of the momentary reprieve to jump onto her boulder and chat with her .
“A kid that hasn’t even grown hair!? I’m not interested.” She snapped at her frivolous brother.
“Don't worry. It will grow out in a few years. Small boys like the older sister types. You are definitely his type!” He said with a mischievous smile.
“Scram!” She raised her voice at him, her face slightly flushed with anger and
embarrassment.
In the middle of their celebration, a strange laughter echoed in the air.
“Hiss…..”
The sound was distant yet near. It seemed to travel with the wind, its direction changing and its source unknown. The sinister coldness within it sent chills down the spines of the hunters.
“Who’s there?!”
Yi Zheng shouted into the air, his thin sword drawn and ready for battle. He cautiously scanned around but couldn't find the source.
By now, everyone's weapons were drawn, a tense look on their face.
“It can’t be that monster transcendent, right?” He muttered softly. He could not think of a second answer. He wasn’t alone in this; an extremely dark look crossed the faces of some of the hunters as they thought of this possibility.
No one expected the transcendent to show up right after they finally triumphed over the massive horde. A transcendent posed the same threat as the entire monster horde.
Anyone below the rank of transcendent are ants in its eyes. This sentence wasn’t just an allegory but reflected reality as well. A transcendent was able to suppress a thousand hunters in an instant.
“Senior is the transcendent who started this horde?” Yi Zheng cupped his hands and greeted the monster respectfully. He didn’t actually know where it was, but was only trying to delay it.
It was now 4 am , 2 hrs away from the 48 hr limit . By then their transcendent, Yu Danli, would arrive. Every minute they bought greatly increased their survival chances.
“Human brat, do you think I’ll let you all go just because you were polite?” A sinister voice echoed in the air. “Hiss...I did not expect to meet a descendant of god here…”
A soft hissing sound was heard from the goddess ridge. A giant black python came into view as it slowly coiled around a snowy mountain peak. It reared its head and stared fervently at Lin Huang, greed reflected in its eyes.
“As long as I consume you and absorb your divine blood, I can join the ranks of the mighty deity race!”
“God’s descendant?!”
The crowd’s eyes bulged as they turned to Lin Huang. Lin Huang’s immense power finally made sense as they took in the monster's words.
“So your target is me?” He didn’t expect another threat to loom so soon after the other passed. What's more this one was directed solely at him, although it was based on a misunderstanding.
“Of course, human brat. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have sacrificed one of my clones to stall that human transcendent?!” While its reptilian head was incapable of showing any expression, its taunting eyes clear for all to see.
“That’s right! The transcendent you guys desperately tried to buy time for has been held up by my clone. That fellow should be happily chasing my clone right about now. He won't make it here for a few more hours.”
Hearing this revelation, everyone's hopes were simultaneously dashed.
“What's the matter? Feeling disappointed that all your work was in vain?” Its taunting even more apparent.
Lin Huang quietly contacted Kuro and asked for his advice, “Kuro is there any way to defeat this monster?”
[With master’s current strength, the chances of surviving an encounter with a transcendent is 0%. The gap in strength cannot be made up so easily.]

“Senior, you misunderstand my intentions. I wouldn’t dare to try anything in front of senior. Just a few words.” As she said this she waved at Yi Zheng, beckoning him to follow her. She then jumped off the giant boulder and walked towards Lin Huang.

As the pair came close, the bystanders made way for them. Most of them wore shocked expressions on their faces.
Yi Yeyu was a relatively famous hunter in the 7th district after all. She was after all, ranked within the top 1,000 gold hunters in the district. Furthermore, she had a powerful brother. A lot of people had a crush on her.
The fact that such a girl confessed to Lin Huang, a person who hadn’t even advanced to the BlackIron realm, left them shocked.
As the pair stood in front of Lin Huang, Yi Yeyu pulled his hand and smiled at him.
