Merlin doesn't want to ruin their sleep, or perhaps doesn't want to ruin Seraphina's sleep he doesn't want to face the consequences of pissing off a Sovereign existence.
Also he notice that Seraphina doesn't have her wings and horn, he also just notice now that Clay's index finger in his right hand have some layer of colors in it and strange carvings.
'Hmm? It looks familiar where did I read it again? I think I read something that looks like this in the forbidding section of the library, I forgot it's meaning though.'Merlin thought but just decided to ask him later.
So instead he just read a book there while waiting for them to wake up.
After an hour or so, the two already woke up, they proceed to eat first, after eating merlin followed them to their room and finally ask 2 questions.

So merlin thought that there's a possibility that Clay is already at 9th class or maybe even Sovereign just because on how he can Summon so many 9th tier magic at once which is extremely ridiculous.
Now after Clay heard Merlin's question, actually Clay is also wondering on how he can use a 9th tier magic spells so easily and he can even use maybe Grand tier spells, even when he is just 7th class magician.(A/N: to those who might be wondering why he can, it is answered by the system long time ago, spells from systems doesn't have limits no matter Clay's level is as long as he have a mana, on the other hand the purpose of levels is he can't learn spells from that world as long as his level does not match, for some reason Clay forgot about this, even having a Superior comprehension *Sigh* he's really just the complete opposite of an ideal MC.)

It's because even though you are that strong you need to graduate in 1st curriculum and 2nd curriculum now I'll explain to you how it works; in 1st curriculum you must achieve 1st class wizard to graduate but attaining it is not enough you must be atleast 10 years old to graduate, note normal people graduate at the age of 15 years old and up.
You're not an exception to this there's a lot of talented people who reach high class at young age but still abide this, it's because it is a tradition you need to spend atleast 5 years in this school to be recognized as a real student, you will need to join school activities, socializing, we will record your behaviors in school and overall performance all of it matter because we need to nurture our own students talent is not enough we need to make you a honorable wizard...now let's move at the 2nd curriculum.... In this curriculum you need to be atleast 4th class and 15 years old to graduate, note normal people graduate at 25 years old and up, but if you reach 30 without attaining 4th class the school will be force to kick you out but you will have a status as a alumni which is really convenient because whenever you go in this continent you will be respected, well its the best academy you you will certainly be respected, same rules apply you need 5 years to participate in school activities, record you performance or what's the people would like to join the <WIZARD'S TOURNAMENTS>"
