"What the fuck was that?" Kace could not help but blurt out after witnessing Joshua's disappearing act.

Hearing Kace's voice snapped Sophia back to her senses. Her neck almost broke from how quickly she twisted it to look at him. 'Oh, thank god! He's awake!' Sophia thought as she looked at his figure just standing there. 'Wait? How did he get out of the room?'

"That, as you called it, is a problem for us vampires to solve." The cold voice of Marquis Perez echoed throughout the hall.

All eyes turned on him in a second, many of them were grateful for his presence. Sophia looked at him with disdain, if he had arrived earlier, they could have kept the situation under control. She had a distinct impression that he had deliberately been slow to arrive. After all, it would benefit the noble faction if Raven successfully escaped.

"Princess Sofia, surely you must realise that it must be put down. Beyond that, this incident proves that Raven is unfit to be king. His subordinate has murdered a number of the castles guards. Surely they will be tagged as traitorous outlaws. Don't you agree?" Marquis Perez asked with a stone-cold voice, that sounded more like a statement than anything else.

Kace could not believe his ears, Raven had become a valuable companion to him. There had to be some kind of mistake. Even Joshua had been kind to him, which gave him an excellent impression of the man. Something must have happened that he was not aware of yet. It was clear that the Marquis was attempting to use the situation to his political advantage.

The temperature in the room dropped by several degrees, as Sophia fixed him with a chilly gaze. In her mind, this was not the place to discuss such serious matters. After all, right now, they did not have the full picture of what had happened. Throwing accusations around right now could severely affect her mother's reputation.

"No Carlos, I think you have said enough. Perhaps we should discuss this later when in the presence of the Queen." Sophia replied with a frosty tone.

Carlos side in response, he had hoped to bait her into an argument in front of everyone. That way, he could reduce her credibility, for when he would argue his point later in front of the council. He gave her a slight smile before nodding in Kace's direction. Without a sound, he quickly disappeared just as suddenly as he had appeared. Kace could only watch the events unfolding with a hint of anger on his face.

Although he did not know exactly what was going on, he did not like the idea that someone was trying to drag down those he considered to be friends. Sophia withdrew the cold atmosphere that she had created in her anger. Personally, Kace thought that she looked close to tears. Which was not far from the truth. Sophia was considering the fact that Celia would definitely be punished for her part in this.

That punishment would certainly be a death sentence. The creation of Wraiths had been outlawed for centuries, ever since the great war from before her time. Her mother had made sure to tell her plenty of stories about them, on the off chance that one day she might need to deal with them herself. They were horrifying monsters compared to vampires. They could easily escape to a realm that no one could follow them to. If you were really unlucky, they would drag you over there to deal with you alone.

This had been the best chance to deal with him since they gradually grew stronger over time. They were not an existence that had to train or anything like that. Their powers would just naturally come to them. They would definitely have to track down this rogue before he became too powerful. Unfortunately, they were amongst the hardest of existences to track down. Right now he could already be a full country away.

Sophia felt a headache brewing, she could only hope that she was not tasked with tracking him down. Which could be likely considering she would be held responsible for his escape. Since she was the most senior vampire on the scene at the time. Her thoughts were interrupted by Kace, clearing his throat next to her. Without her realising he had already descended the remaining steals.

"Now I know this is kind of awkward but, what exactly happened here?" Kace asked with an unsure voice. He had a feeling that he was not going to like the answer. It just occurred to him that Grugda was nowhere to be seen.

"Never mind that! How did you get out of your room?" Sophia asked and anger. "It should not be possible!"

Kace looked at her with a guilty smile, he could not exactly explain to her about his little helper. Especially as he did not know the situation between their two races. With them about to start a manhunt, he did not want to give them an avenue to vent their frustration on. 'Crap! How the fuck am I meant to get out of this one?' Kace panicked.

Luckily, his saviour was just around the corner. The Queen marched down to the open area with a platoon of soldiers behind her. Each of them looked as though they were ready to fight a war, rather than detain and escapee. All of the vampires who were already present instantly got down on one knee. None of them wanted to become the target of the anger that was exuding from her.

The first thing that she spotted was someone who was not meant to be there. Obviously, that person was Kace himself. Kace could immediately tell that he had fallen face-first into a big pile of shit. There was no warmth in the look that Sonja was giving him. All he wanted to do right now was disappear.

"You! What the hell are you doing here!?" Sonia demanded in a steely tone…
