Kace gave Sonja a cold stare in response to her words. 'Why should I ever listen to you?' Kace thought as he burned her with his icy stare. Her face seemed to be pleading with him, but he no longer cared. As far as he was concerned, she was just another enemy now.

"Do it," Kace commanded in an ominous voice as turned his eyes on Shadow.

"At your command, My lord." Shadow flashed an evil and toothy smile as he placed his other hand upon the ground.

Sinister chanting reverberated around the hall from Shadow's mouth. The soldiers were becoming thoroughly terrified, unsure of what he was up to now. The only thing they could think of at that moment was that it would not be good for them. They began to try and resist against the shadows that bound them. Which irritated Kace to no end.

His spear shape-shifted into the form of his old halberd. With a malicious glint in his eyes, he proceeded to execute several of the struggling vampires. Their heads flew through the air as the others began to sob. In their current position, they had no way to defend themselves. They were as helpless as newborn babies, and now they harboured a deep-seated fear of monster before them.

Sonja could feel her heartbreaking, this person was supposed to be her disciple. The one who would carry her legacy if anything ever happened to her. Instead, she had unwittingly turned him into an enemy. What was even worse was the fact that this man was supposed to become the saviour of all monsters. 'How could I have been so stupid! The vampires will never have a place at his side after this!' Sonja was severely regretting her actions right now.

"I hope you have all settled down now?" Kace asked with an ice-cold voice. It gave them all the impression that he was actually hoping that they would continue to resist. "Hmm, it seems you are all being rather obedient."

He clicked his tongue as he looked at all the vampires that were bound to their spot around him. From the sounds of it, Shadow was almost done with his preparations. 'Fuck it. I still have some time.' This malicious thought crossed his mind as he quickly counted how many vampires were left.

Without warning, he continued the executions. His halberd was like an executioner's axe. Unrelenting as it severed each new head from its neck. The sight of the massacre sent the vampires into a blind panic! How could they have been so naive! Would any of them have ever let someone off the hook for attempting to kill them? Of course not! So why did they believe that he would!

Sonja's heart was slowly breaking into pieces as she watched her soldiers get cut down in front of her eyes. She silently prayed for the bindings to wear off. Each second was agonising for her. However, her panic reached new heights as Kace came to stand in front of Sophia. 'Oh, gods, no!' Despite how she acted, she loved her daughter more than anything. If Sophia was killed, she was certain that she would never recover from the trauma.

Sophia stared into Kace's cold eyes as a single tear leaked from her eye. 'He's not the same as he was before!' Sophia could tell that something had changed within him. Except, she fully believed that it had nothing to do with the current situation. She suspected it was an aftereffect of his bonding with his weapon. She watched in silent horror as Kace lifted the deadly halberd into a prime position to swing it.

The weapon swept through the air without a sound, Sophia closed her eyes, knowing that her death was nigh. The sound of her mother wailing penetrated her eardrums. She felt a sting upon her neck. 'Ah, I guess this is it.' Sophia thought about all the things she had still wanted to accomplish in life. It made her think about how she had fought against her duties as a princess. About all of the responsibilities and hopes that had been placed on her. How she had squandered all of these things.

Sophia suddenly felt herself being held in an embrace. 'I never imagined death would feel like this.' She was just grateful that it had not been as painful as she had thought it would be. An annoying noise irked at her as she accepted her fate. Slowly pulling her back to reality.

She slowly opened her eyes to find herself being held tightly by her mother. 'Wait. What?' She was confused to find that she was still amongst the living. She looked around carefully only discover that all traces of Kace and Shadow had disappeared. The surviving soldiers were all down on their knees. Their faces were soaked in sweat, and they looked as if they had just come face to face with the grim reaper himself.

"Umm, what just happened?" Sophia asked in disbelief. Her eyes wandered to her mother's face that was bright red as tears flowed freely down her cheeks. A stinging pain urged her to touch her neck, she gasped as she realised just how close she had come to actually dying. There was a small nick left in her skin from where the halberd had actually cut her.

Meanwhile, in a dark cave situated outside of the vampire's city…

Two figures stepped out from the shadow's wriggling around on the ground. Kace stared at the crude stone throne that was right before him. His eyes flashed with anger at having been unable to finish the job. 'Why should I care about any of them? Even Grugda, despite what we've been through, never came to help me. Why should I allow any of them to live?'

Kace was unaware that at this moment every eye of every goblin in this tribe was fixated on him. Each and every one of them was silently waiting in the shadows. A voice interrupted his sinister musings.

"My Lord, please, take your rightful place," Shadow said solemnly as he bowed and gestured to his throne. Every eye in the cave flickered with excitement…
