As Amiya left Ferris’s room to set up her own avatar, she did an internal fist pump.
Although Ferris was fairly emotional, his permanent deadpan expression made it difficult for most people to tell how he was feeling.
“Even though that part of him is also cute… It's such a waste!” Amiya silently cried out.
It was unbearably disappointing that no one else understood her brother’s cuteness—how excited he got when people praised him, how he sulked when he was lonely, etc., etc.—and so Amiya hatched a brilliant plan: if she could convince Ferris to put on wolf ears and tail, it would not only help show others how he was feeling, but also amplify his cuteness even further.
There was no one to point out that the cuteness of a beefy man with animal ears was somewhat subjective.
Regardless, Amiya was satisfied. She flopped onto her bed, turned on her headset, and watched as the countdown ticked down to zero.

As Amiya found herself in the character creation space, she immediately sought to test out something that Ferris warned her about.
She set her ‘Human’ race slider to zero.
Amiya felt an uncanny chill as her avatar dissolved into an echo of what it once was. The whispers—as though slighted by this transgression against the avatar’s being—carried sense of loathing; as they grew into a cacophony of screams, the grudge manifested its true malice and--
Amiya set the ‘Human’ slider back to full.

She set the slider to zero again.
… Back to full.
… To zero.
… And back.
“... It's kinda cute…” she mumbled to herself.
