With everyone in position (Belphegor found a nice log to sit on), Fenris literally leapt into the fray with an overhead haymaker.

The wolf, having noticed his markedly unstealthy first strike, simply stepped out of the way of Fenris’s fist, which hit the dirt with a thud. However, in the same motion as his landing, Fenris immediately followed up with a lightning-fast uppercut from his opposite side, sending it into the bushes.

The rest of the pack snarled as they placed themselves between him and their incapacitated ally. Slowly, they spread out and encircled him, preparing to take him down.

Seeing the wolves focused on Fenris, Ami and Murmur sprang into action. Although they weren't much stealthier than Fenris was, their raw status drastically outclassed his own.

Like her brother, Ami dashed in with a wide, brutal swing of her maul; however, she connected with her first strike, instantly crushing the poor wolf and reducing it into death-effect particles.

Murmur, on the other hand, used a Germanic overhead greatsword stance; she closed the distance with a “simple” step-in—her movements were refined to the point that it looked like she had blinked forwards—and cut through her mark twice: once from above, and again from below as she brought her sword back up.

“Alright, we’re done here!” Ami shouted to Fenris. “The rest is up to you!”

The two wolves on Fenris immediately started chasing after Ami.

“Eh— WHY?!”

Fenris intercepted one wolf with his right arm, blocking its lunge. While his gauntlet protected his hand as the wolf bit into it, the second wolf closed its jaws around his knee. Unflinching as blood dripped down his leg, Fenris brought his left elbow to the second wolf’s head, causing it to yelp and let go. With the first wolf still attached to his hand, he gripped its snout and swung the whole wolf into the other.

At this point, the wolf that Fenris punched at the start had finally recovered enough to return to the fray—however, the battle was already over.

Fenris slapped the wolf as it ran in, grabbed it by the rear legs, and slammed it into the dog pile—once, twice, and then, after the third hit, the remaining wolves all turned into particles.

A sudden blast of noise made Fenris jump a foot into the air.

“... M-my head…” Fenris looked like smoke was about to come out of his ears, with his expression significantly blanker than usual.

“A-are you alright?” Ami asked.

“I just got... a lot of notification sounds at once…”

“Oh…”

Since notifications weren't audible to other players, the alerts would sound directly inside the receiver's head. While they would normally play one after another, Fenris had just experienced all of them at once.

Much like how one could technically argue that an airplane does not fly in the same way that a bird flies because it cannot flap its giant, metallic wings, the notification bomb technically wasn't loud at all since it didn't make any measurable noise—which is to say that it was incredibly loud to anyone that wasn't a total pedant, and that the semantics made very little difference to Fenris at this particular moment.

... Yeah, not sure what was I thinking when I wrote that last part...

Anyways, I've changed the "Fist" weapon type to "knuckles" because calling "Fist handling" an Art felt weird.

An explanation of the stats will come in a later chapter.
