Hey, What The Hell is This?

We decided to deal with the black grizzly’s corpse first. This thing’s materials are useful in many ways. Especially its fangs and claws, which seem to be of very high quality. If we use them as materials for swords, we can expect it to be strong and durable considerably. And then there’s the fur–which does not really provide much defense, but it’s excellent at protecting against the cold. For me, who lost my place of residence, it’s quite important to keep my body warm.

Wait, what is this…? While skinning the corpse, I found something strange–a red gemstone. It was inside its body, giving off a dull glow and an indescribable atmosphere. Well, that’s fine. I don’t know what this is, but it wouldn’t hurt to pick it off. There’s also the possibility of selling it for a high price. I’ve stripped off a whole bunch of material while thinking of my future plans.

What should I do now? Should I head to the next town as I had originally planned? It doesn’t really matter where I go, but if I think of my circumstances, it’s better to go to my parents’ home, far away from the imperial capital–a place where my bad reputation hasn’t spread yet. As I was pondering to myself, Lei suddenly said something I hadn’t thought of.

“–then why don’t we go to my mother’s hometown?”

“Eh…?”

“Well, you know… Rastahl Village!”

Rastahl Village.

Of course I know of it. Lei is not the rightful queen child, but the daughter of a woman from the village of Rastahl. Although Lei is not considered a strong candidate to succeed the throne, the emperor was very fond of her mother. That’s why she was given preferential treatment over her other half-brothers in the royal family.

“I only go there once in a while, but the people in the village are all very nice!” Waving both of her arms and opening her eyes wide while delivering an impassioned speech, she continued, “And the food is delicious! The air is clean! Well??? Not bad, right?!?!”

“All right, all right. I already get it so calm down”

How far are you going to push for Rastahl village? I’m utterly amazed by her, but it’s not a bad option though. Rastahl Village is far away from my parents’ house and I don’t have to worry about my bad publicity. Yup. It wouldn’t be a bad place to live for a short period of time.

“All right. Let’s go to…the village of Rastahl.”

“Un un!!! Let’s go, let’s gooo!”

Rei’s smile flashes brightly.

T/N: what a cutie hahaha

”…Then we’ll need a carriage. It’s too hard to walk all the way there.”

However, I need to return to the imperial capital to borrow a carriage. So what to do? Hmmm…. I don’t want to go back to the capital though. Of course they will. If they find out about my skill, they’ll send me back to the castle for sure. I don’t want to go back to the castle either. And my bad reputation as to having a miss skill will spread further. However…well, I guess it can’t be helped. If we want to go to Rustahl Village, we have no choice but to make up our minds here.

“Lei, do you have any other clothes with you?”

“Hmm? Yeah. I have, but…”

“Disguise yourself so they won’t figure who you are. Once we get back to the imperial capital, I’m going to borrow a carriage.”

Of all things, the carriage rental place today was very crowded. The queue was so long that it was so tedious. When I heard the cause for this, I almost blurted out. The reason for was that a black grizzly bear had gone berserk and suddenly appeared. The demand for carriages temporarily increased because it would be dangerous to go through the streets normally. That’s why adventurers are currently forming an urgent party to deal with the black grizzlies. Well, I just defeated one though. The “miss skill” holder would never be trusted to say that, so I’ll keep quiet for now.

‘”Hey, that guy….”

“Look at him, what a failure of a swordsman”

“I heard he got kicked out of their house…”

In fact, I can hear them whispering all the time, even from earlier. I don’t want to hear it, of course, but they’re talking at a very subtle volume loud enough for me to hear. It’s just plain annoying.

“They don’t know anything about Arios..!”

Oi, oi, calm down. I call out to Lei, her fist trembling, to be still. Or rather, I have a feeling that this princess is angrier than I am.

“Just wait a little longer and we’ll be in the front of the queue. Bear with me.”

“Uh, un…”

It was worth the long wait and we were inching forward. If we waited for a few minutes, we would be able to get into the carriage safely. And then–

“Hey, you there!” Suddenly, a voice called out at me which gave me a bad feeling.

“Yes? Is it me???”

“You know who I’m talking to! You piece of shit!”

The men in line directly behind me suddenly went on a tirade. They wore weapons and armor, albeit inexpensive looking ones. Are they adventurers?

“You can tell by looking at us, can’t you? We’re adventurers.”

The man behind me said with a smug look on his face. Sigh…

“Sorry, but we got an emergency ‘request’. That’s why you two need to get out of the way.”

“Hahahahahaha,” the people who look like his friends start laughing.

“You know what I mean. We’ve done more for society than you, you worthless little shit. For the sake of the good people, get out of the way, scum.”

–That’s a lie. I instantly thought so. It’s probably true that they’re receiving some kind of request, but it’s not an “urgent” request. If that’s the case, then they should have just barged in from the beginning. And in the first place, they should have just borrowed the guild’s own carriage. So this is simply to make things difficult. These guys just want to humiliate me, who couldn’t become a sword saint–

“You people! What are you talking about?!”

Suddenly, Ray interrupts the adventurers.

“Your behavior, I don’t think you’ve even reached the ability to receive a very urgent request.”

“Huh?” The adventurer’s eyes widen. This is not good. That girl, Lei, she’s never going to be able to stop when it comes to this.

“Before you talk big, you must first become a great member of the guild. Bottom-tier adventurer.”

“You son of a bitch!!!”

“Shut the fuck up!”

“Oi, let’s start with this bitch!”

Not good. The adventurers seem to be completely pissed off. They each carried their own weapons and their aim was completely set on Lei. No matter how weak their opponents were, there was no way she could withstand the attacks of so many people. I guess it can’t be helped.

—Cheat Code Activating—

 List of Available Cheat Codes:

 –Increase Physical Attack – Low

–Use of All Fire Element Magic

The fire-element magic has too high firepower. I’m not going to be able to cast it in this place. It’s a good idea to have the increased physical attack. I have some knowledge of combat, so this should be enough.

 –The Cheat Code is Activated.–

 Increase Physical Attack – Low

“Die, you bastard!!!”

The numbed adventurer swings his sword down at Ray. But…

“Haaaah!!!”

I ran as quickly as I could, hitting the adventurer, then—

Boom!

“Nugipriyaaah!”

The adventurer was blown far into the sky.

”……..Ehh???”

I blink my eyes, uncomprehendingly.
