Lu AnLing had been in many confusion situations in her life. She had also met a lot of people she didn't understand, but none of them were stranger than Tang Bingyi.
"Wasn't this suppose to be a business meeting?" Lu AnLing asked, hoping that someone would save her from Tang Bingyi's questioning.
Tang Bingyi giggled. 'How interesting...' She thought. Lu AnLing had answered the same way Kang Jun had answered her at the club and in France.
"Women are good at multitasking. We can do both." Tang Bingyi said with a Cheshire Cat-like smile.
Despite the strangeness of the girl, Not finding a problem with her logic, Lu AnLing shrugged. There was nothing to refute, and she didn't want to be rude to one of the people who was offering her a job so she was stuck.
Seeing this, Tang Bingyi felt as if she had a free pass to ask whatever she wanted.
"What do you think of Mr. Kang?"
Lu AnLing: "I think he's a great man."
Tang Bingyi opened her mouth, but Lu AnLing interrupted politely.
"How about we alternate between personal questions and business questions."
Tang Bingyi nodded, her smile not disappearing from her lips.
Tang Bingyi: "I'm assuming you know what the Infinity Project is, right?"
Hesitatingly, Lu AnLing nodded. She hoped that this was not Tang Bingyi's question because it would be simply unfair.
Recognizing her hesitation, Tang Bingyi giggled, "Don't worry, that's not my question."
Tang Bingyi straightened herself and sat up straight. There was a file in front of her which Lu AnLing hadn't realized until now.
Tang Bingyi opened the file and then she handed a simple paper over to Lu AnLing and began to speak,
"The Infinity Project is the beginning of a revolution. Usually, Tang Entertainment wouldn't involve ourselves with Halo Stars because a bit of competition is healthy, but this requires us both to work together."
Looking over Tang Bingyi, Lu AnLing immediately noticed how her mannerism had changed. She was no longer childish, but now she was a hard-working professional.
Tang Bingyi might have still been young but her experiences in the business and entertainment fields were immense. She was the future of Tang Corporations and by how she spoke to her now, Lu AnLing could bet that their future would be bright.
When Tang Bingyi was done explaining the project, Lu AnLing pouted a bit and said, "I understand, but what is your question?"
Tang Bingyi smiled. "You see, your job will be not only to help us communicate seamlessly with our foreign investors and business partners but also, to help us with marketing. You will be our connector between borders."
Tang Bingyi turned her body slightly, opening herself up to the rest of the almost empty room and said, "Most of us know how to speak certain languages, albeit not always fluently, but you are different. How did you learn so much in these 6 years? Are you truly fluent?"
"I already knew French and English when I was young, but then I went to France and America I became better. Being surrounded by the language you're trying to study is important and I learned that there. After two years in France I was already fluent and then I went to America where I became fluent in English and Spanish. When it came to the other languages I learned I just had to find someone who was born and raised in the culture where the language is spoken to teach me and help me practice. When it came to writing, that was easy. Grammar, verbs, etc. Those were simple things for me..."
Lu AnLing went in depth explaining how she learned languages and Tang Bingyi listened without her attention straying.
Then when it was time for her second personal question, Tang Bingyi spoke without refrain.
"When I asked you what you thought of Kang Jun, what I meant was, what do you think about him in terms of romance. You must have heard the rumors about him..."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing frowned. Why was she being questioned so much this year? Was it really strange that Kang Jun was human and that she could fall in love with him?
Lu AnLing: "I don't believe in judging a book by its cover. I determine whether or not someone is a good person by how they treat me."
"Even if he turned out to be a murderer?"
Hearing this, Lu AnLing frowned.
"Only one personal question." Lu AnLing said.
"That was my question. You didn't let me finish." Tang Bingyi knew how to phrase her sentences. She didn't quite like beating around the bush but the question she wanted to ask needed a buffer of sorts. "My question was would you still like Kang Jun if I told you that he might be a murderer?"
Tang Bingyi had heard rumors about what Kang Jun had done to his brother. She didn't know how valid they were but it was these rumors that formed The image of Kang Jun that most people in the rich circles knew nowadays.
On the other hand, Lu AnLing had barely known anything about that part of Kang Jun's life. The year Kang Zhi was killed Lu AnLing was beginning her second year living in the institution. And in there, news from back home never made its way in.
Lu AnLing: "My opinions of others will always depend on how they treat me. Murderer or not, I don't know the circumstances. I knew a girl one who had gone out with someone she cared about. On that day, they had a fight and the girl told him she wished to be rid of him... then moments later he tried to forcefully take her back home and she shoved him. Right then, a car came and hit them both. The girl had pushed him in front of her so while she got a few minor scratches and a concussion, he died..."
Lu AnLing didn't say her point but Tang Bingyi could understand what Lu AnLing was getting at.
Tang Bingyi: "So no matter what, if you get to know him and if he treats you well you'll forgive all his sins?"
Lu AnLing shook her head. "The past is the past. I'm not here to forgive all his sins or convince him to be a better person. I would never be an accomplice to someone else's crimes but if I love him, I'll love him. If I can't stand the horrible things he does and he won't stop, even for me, then I'll leave him."
Lu AnLing was just saying this figuratively. She didn't think any crime Kang Jun had committed in the past was too horrible but at the end that had nothing to do with her. If he ever did something in front of her eyes that she believed to be wrong she would talk to him about it and knowing Kang Jun's personality; for her, he would never do it again.
Though, hearing Lu AnLing's response, Tang Bingyi laughed out loud
Hearing this, both Kang Jun and Mo Yichen were alerted and made their way towards the two.
Before this, the two had been discussing a completely different matter so they could allow the two girls to get used to each other but hearing Tang Bingyi laugh with such genuine amusement, they couldn't help but be curious.
Once they got close, Tang Bingyi turned to Kang Jun and suddenly, her cold aura came back. However, it didn't change the mood. Tang Bingyi was still obviously amused.
Seeing a weird silence begin to form, Mo Yichen who was by far the oldest amongst them, looked at Tang Bingyi and asked, "What's going on?"
Tang Bingyi pointed at Lu AnLing and said, "I love her. She's the best."
Hearing this, Lu AnLing blushed and Mo Yichen gave a confused look between the three. Internally he was extremely amused but he didn't want to show this. He wanted to show Kang Jun that he was on the man's side.
"What happened?" Mo Yichen said stiffly as he tried to contain his true emotions.
Spotting this, Tang Bingyi smirked. "Can you give this girl to me?"
The question was directed to Mo Yichen but Kang Jun immediately frowned and said, "I refuse."
